A Gem
I would like to share all of the amazing attributes of this incredible space but in keeping with a simple, less noisy lifestyle I will keep it as short as possible. First, no it's not a typo or scam. This beautiful, miniature "resort" (my description) is also the absolute best price I found ... this home would be a great deal at twice or three times the price. Value notwithstanding, the hosts provide a manifestly simple yet luxurious environment and wonderful amenities. Everything is extremely clean and top quality but just as importantly the space has a warm and positive atmosphere and energy. Being a mile and a half from the road it is serenely peaceful and comfortable as the climate at that elevation is much more pleasant than it can get down lower. No the drive is not that bad, I drove it in a compact sedan no problem, just slow down and enjoy the scenery ... by my fourth and last day I had come to really enjoy it. Rick and Katy are wonderful hosts and very interesting people. They're pretty busy keeping up the place much of the day (no staff, just them) but be sure and catch up with them during the scheduled house times, you won't regret it and you will probably learn something. They want you to have the most enjoyable experience you can and it shows in their efforts every day. Lastly, the morning breakfasts are incredibly healthy, tasty and nutritious bonuses .. this is a perk that you usually won't get at any price and you will love it I guarantee. I was visiting to buy land nearby ... I left without any land yet but I came back with something much more valuable I feel. They introduced me to other local, like minded people that made me feel I was getting close in my journey to get back home. I will be their "neighbor" on the volcano someday soon and I'll be happy to be part of a community with people like Rick and Katy. mahalo Scott

Guest Testimonials:

Here’s what Nicole wrote:

“We stayed there for four nights. My room was the largest suite with bath and part of the patio. The place is pretty close to everything if you wanna explore volcanos. But make sure you get yourself a car with high clearance, the road to the house was kinda bumpy and it damages the base if you have a low clearance. Every else was just perfect. The hosts were nice and sweet :) ”

Here’s what Stephanie wrote

“Rick and Katy Joy are amazing hosts who took little moments of time to make our Hawaiian home so comfortable. Everything from the cleanliness of the room, light and delicious breakfasts, to personal inquiries about our ventures outside of the lovely Celestial Sanctum. They made us feel like instant guests of the family. Their home was the perfect location for checking out the southern coast of Hawaii. Kona, Hawaii Volcano Nat'l Park, Pahoa, South Point and Hilo. I hope we see them again!”

Here’s what Sophea wrote

“What a wonderful stay! Rick and Katy Joy are so warm and welcoming. The house is beautiful. My room was quiet and private. In the morning there was the sound of cows and the clucking of chickens.
