About Nikole Adamson
The cabin is owned by brother and sister team, Mark and Nikki Adamson. This cabin was their childhood home and it was built from the ground up by their parents, Karl and Carolyn (shown in photo). It took every weekend over the course of four years to complete. Karl was a native of Watersmeet and wanted to bring his family back to the simpler, more honest life offered in rural Michigan. The only thing in the home that our parents did not build is the fireplace and rocks laid by the front door. Dad always said he 'didn't want to practice in the middle of the living room'. Both Karl and Carolyn have passed on now but their memory lives on in this beautiful cabin and location. About the owners: Owner Nikki Adamson resides in Dallas, GA. If you call with a question or for help with a reservation, you will most likely talk with her. She has been married to husband Cory Schaubs for 10 years and she is a general dentist. Nikki and Cory enjoy camping and the outdoors, target shooting, archery, and travel. They spend a week vacation every summer up north improving the cabin. Nikki and Cory have two fur-children, a three-legged German Shepherd named Sophia, and a mixed breed rescue cat named Chloe. Owner Mark now lives in Lake Villa, IL. He handles more of the repairs and cabin maintenance. Mark is an electrical lineman and has been married to his wife, Lynn, for 10 years. They have one wonderful son, Reid. Mark and his family also enjoy camping, the outdoors and Reid's sporting events. Their dogs, Levi and Ellie, complete the family. After the early passing of our parents, we were not ready to sell the place that we still call home. After much thought and discussion, we decided to make Simpler Times Cabin a place that others can come enjoy too. You'll quickly see why so many people come to visit our area and why we wanted to share it with you.

Why Nikole Adamson chose Watersmeet
Look closely at the cabin and you will see the love, sweat and tears that were spent building this home. The logs are hand-peeled red pine timber, and the chinking was placed inch-by-inch with little nails by our mother. The cabinets are handmade with tongue and groove lumber, and the open ceilings offer and open yet cozy feel. The water is from a spring-fed well and so incredibly pure. The air is clean, the seclusion is spectacular and the scenery speaks for itself.
What makes this Cabin unique
This property is an authentic log cabin and was actually built as a three-bedroom home. For this reason, it is much more spacious and well-appointed than many other rental cabins.

Amazing Log Cabin!
We had an absolutely wonderful time staying here! This place is dreamy. From the moment you enter the spacious driveway you can see how nice this place is. There are tall trees surrounding the property and a river is in the back yard. The construction of the log cabin is amazing. The living room has an open ceiling and you can see the large wood structure beams interconnected with each other. Well decorated like a log cabin should be. I would definitely recommend staying here for your next vacation! It's not too far from the most beautiful trails in America!
Everything was nice and so easy with our dogs
Weekend get away
Very peaceful. Enjoyed the fireplace and the view outside. It was nice to get away with my wife💕
Pleasant get away
My overall experience is good. Dealing with nikole was a pleasure. The owners did well on this this cozy place, nice set up . The only two issue i had with my guest was that stayed with was the cabin had a several mouse traps set up around the fire place and during dinner a mouse came out of the bottom of the stove... for the money paid , there should not be any kind of rodent issues what's so ever . Will i rent again ? Yes, if the problem is taken care of .
For future guests, please take the time to read all information before making a reservation, as this comment above is a common occurrence in the northwoods as the cooler weather starts to move in. The possibility was clearly stated in the property description. Thank you!
met all of our expectations
The house and property was beautiful. If staying during the summer, bring mosquito and fly repellent.
