AUTHENTIC ADOBE BEAUTY IN ARIZONA RURAL HIGH DESERT WITH NATURAL DESERT GRASSES

PROPERTY & AREA INFORMATION

Experience 360° of incredible mountain views in this authentic adobe home on 10 acres of natural high desert.

Unbelievable peace, quiet and tranquility await. In early evening, you will hear the yap of the coyote. In early morning, you will see Jack Rabbits and Cottontail hop across the front yard. Road Runners, Hawks and even White Owls can be observed on or near the property. If you look closely under the Mesquite, you will see the elusive and endangered Horned Toad.

In this big sky country, you are guaranteed to see falling stars and, on some evenings, the Miky Way.

Guaranteed stunning desert sunsets and sunrises in red, blues and pinks, blues and grays. In the morning, you can observe the moon dip behind the mountains.

You can visit the breathtaking Chiricahua National Monument, Kartchner Caverns, the wild west re-creations in famed Tombstone, Old Bisbee - the artist haven and old copper mining town, Cochise Stronghold of famed Apache Chief Cochise , Amerind Museum, Bowie National Historic Site, Ft Graham Observatory and more. But please plan to spend some time in the Historic Willcox with its famed cowboy museums and wineries.

The Earth House, with its proximity to so many area sites, is the perfect spot for those who enjoy birding, antiquing, archaeology, rock hounding, hiking, touring Native American, Calvary and cowboy archaeology sites. Experience true serenity in the quiet desert.

Willcox has a famous cowboy history with museums and hosts wine tasting in several locations in town. If, during your visit, you desire the culture that only a big city can afford, Tucson is just a short drive down I-10.

The Earth House will provide you a unique vacation experience as the home itself is a creative work of art.

Note: This vacation home is located in a rural community and does not come with the many amenities of larger cities. It has both the charm and the downside of a rural environment. Therefore, being a nature lover is a must to enjoy your stay.

About Pamla Paris

I grew up in North Florida and obtained my BA & MBA from Troy State University. My career took me to Charleston, SC and then to the Memphis.TN area. Following retirement, I returned to my Gulf Breeze, FL home. I have two dogs, "Missy" a mixed breed, and "Dingo", a true Dingo. They love chasing the desert rabbits - truly an exercise in futility. It took five years to complete construction of The Earth House. It is a true, vs fake or "burnt", adobe house. Each 12"x 14" x 4" adobe block that went into the making of this home was made on site with desert sand and stabilizing concrete. Visiting The Earth House is my time to get away from the hustle and bustle of city living, to visit my desert friends and to enjoy the outstanding nature, sunrises and sunsets.

Pamla Paris purchased this house in 2010

Why Pamla Paris chose Arizona

I chose to build this unique adobe home in the high desert of Willcox due to its central proximity to outstanding natural sites throughout Cochise County The home was built in a rural area to get away from the rat race of city living. The property offers peace, quiet, serenity and a variety of nature while still just a short 15 to 20 minutes to town. The adobe home is like a work of art. The 360 degree mountain views are incredible.

It brings me peace every time I visit.

What makes this house unique

The home is enchanting with its tongue and groove ceiling, large vigas and adobe construction. It is in a quiet, remote, peaceful setting yet close enough to see the big city lights of Tucson and/or to tour the western sites. The home is extremely beautiful with its unique architecture.

Car: necessary

This small 'Old West' town is full of history with local museums and old buildings. It was the home to the Earp's of famed Wyatt Earp as well as Rex Allen, the 'singing cowboy'. Several local wineries offer wine tastings including the Coronado Vineyards. Within driving distance is Chiricahua National Monument, Cochise Stronghold, Tombstone, Old Bisbee (Named America's #1 Best American Small Historic Town), Patagonia Lake, Kirchner Caverns, Amerind Museum in the Dragoon Mountains and Ft Graham Observatory. There are fun events throughout the year in Willcox and in surrounding Cochise County, such as birding, antiquing, Old West shoot-out re-enactments, rodeos, antique car shows, rock climbing, museums and other annual festivals such as the Rex Allen Festival, Art Festival, Willcox Wine Tasting Festival and "Wings over Willcox". Recommended activities are in my photo lineup. But the best thing about your stay will be the quiet, peaceful environment surrounding The Earth House; the beautiful sun rises and sun sets over the surrounding mountains, big sky at night, the evening yap of the coyote, rabbits hopping across the property and birds galore.

Peaceful, quiet & comfortable

  • 5 of 5

The house and grounds were very nice & just as described. The house is quite spacious and comfortable and fully equipped with everything you might need, except a hairdryer. Fortunately out there your hair dries pretty quickly.

It was really pleasant to sit outside at all times of the day. It was very hot while we were there but nights were still pretty chilly. We're used to cold and prefer it for sleeping so we had no need for any of the heating systems. For us it was very comfortable both day & night.

We primarily do day hikes so we went somewhere every day early in the am and get back around 5. Everything does require a drive. But the drives are scenic and pleasant. Our favorite places include Chiricahua National Monument which has a number of very scenic and fairly easy trails. Another great area is called Cave Creek and it is on the other side of the mountains from Chiricahua. The rocks there are more red and also spectacular. Portal is one of the main towns and is a favorite spot for birders. You can get there on the highway or by driving over Pinery Canyon Rd from the Chiricahua side. We did both and the road over the mountains is very scenic but slow going as it is dirt and not maintained during the winter. It can be done by passengers cars and we did see several. However a higher clearance vehicle is a better bet.

We really loved Cochise Stronghold which we hadn't visited before and we even went back for a second day because we enjoyed it so much. It's historically interesting as well as scenic with a nice trail. During the hottest part of the day we lounged on a small beach along the river which was running with very cold water. There was very lush greenery there and lots of birds for viewing. There is also a nature conservancy property in Willcox, Muleshoe Ranch which was also nice but not as quick a drive as I thought as the road is dirt and not well maintained so it does take quite a while to get there.

So, the house served as a perfect spot from which to explore the southeastern part of AZ. It was always a treat to come back at the end of a long hot day and relax in the house and on the property. Pam was a pleasure to work with and stayed in communication with lots of helpful info. The property is truly unique and I highly recommend it.

Phenomenal place to stay

  • 5 of 5

Breathtaking home with glorious views of the whole valley! Pam was a very gracious host who offered many ideas for our trip to Willcox. She was quick and responsive with questions we asked and was a delight to worth with. The Earth House was a perfect retreat and centered in a great location that we could go into the city, but then return to our off the beaten path oasis. We saw not a single soul while we stayed here with the exception of an inquisitive coyote who checked us out from the tree line. Lots of delightful birds flew around and sang songs while cotton tails ran by. I loved to watch the ostriches running around at the neighbors property while drinking my morning coffee. I could rave on and on.... loved our stay!!

If you enjoy American history and hiking the adobe home is a great place to stay. Spacious, clean and quiet.

Friendly neighbors and the residents in the town of Willcox offer many suggestions for site seeing and hiking. We enjoy our 2 month stay.

Lovely Home in Lovely Setting

  • 5 of 5

This rental is a lovely, well-built, spacious and nicely decorated abode home. It is located well outside of town on a gravel road. Although there are neighbors, it still has an isolated feel to the location and a great place to view the stars and see various critters in the yard such as road runners, lizards, and jack rabbits. The owner is a gracious and very helpful host. There are many interesting features that you can drive to during the day, including the Chiricahua National Monument. We certainly enjoyed our stay.
