About this property

River's Edge Shenandoah Riverfront Cabin

River's Edge Cabin is located on a scenic stretch of the South Fork of the Shenandoah River. Cool off in the river during the hot summer months. Fish, canoe, and kayak from your own backyard. River's Edge is also a great getaway during the cooler months, although 4WD may be necessary if there is substantial snow.
River's Edge is the perfect house for couples or small families looking for a quiet getaway. We prefer no more than 4 responsible adults or a family of 6. The cabin has a fully equipped kitchen, 3 bedrooms (2 full, 1 queen, 1 full), 2 full baths, gas grill, and a covered deck overlooking the river. Guests provide their own bed linens and towels, however, quilts, blankets, and pillows are provided.
There is plenty to do without leaving the property. Enjoy the views and sounds of the river and the starlit skies from the rocking chairs on the covered deck. Inside activities include games, a DVD collection, and puzzles. Outside you can enjoy badminton, cornhole, and river activities. A canoe, 2 kayaks, and tubes are provided. There is a fire pit overlooking the river for quiet evening campfires. Firewood for several small fires is provided.
Although for most guests it isn't an issue, please note that the yard does have a slope down to the river.
The cabin is located 5 miles north of Luray and just a short drive to Shenandoah National Park, Andy Guest State Park, and Luray Caverns. (The 1.5 mile drive to the cabin from the main road is a maintained gravel road.)

Great getaway
The property was exactly as described, the perfect relaxing getaway. Teens loved exploring Luray caverns nearby and hiking Kennedy’s Peak a short 20 minute drive with amazing scenery. Owners were great to work with and had the place all ready when we arrived. We loved being right on the river and using the kayaks and canoe at the cabin. The evening bonfire was fun as we toasted marshmallows and roasted hotdogs. Great bird watching from the beautiful porch. Thank you for everything (the wine and crackers upon arrival, the recommendation of a great hike, and extra firewood). Perfect hosts and perfect weekend.

Hiking journey/partial spring break
We were very pleased with our stay, plenty of room for us and the kids. On the river, was a bit windy and cold as it is early in the season but enjoyed a camp fire, hiking near by, local sites and beautiful mountain/river view!

Fabulous stay
One of the best cabins we have stayed at! Thank you to the wonderful host! Even Our kids commented and said they want to come back to the house. Everything that we needed and more to make our stay enjoyable was there. Look forward to the next time!

Perfect location!
This is a perfect property location if you’re interested in visiting the Luray caverns or any little exhibits in the town. This location is only about 15 minutes from the caverns and downtown Luray. The property is beautiful and the hosts are very attentive to questions regarding your visit. You can also enjoy canoeing and kayaking, and it comes well equipped with many boardgames for hours of entertainment. This is a perfect location for those who would like to get away from the hustle and bustle, but still close enough that you do not have to drive very far for various amenities. I highly recommend a visit and would definitely visit again 😊

Why they chose this property

We love the quiet and beauty of the Shenandoah Valley. We were fortunate enough to find this property right on the river where we could build our own cabin. Nothing beats having the Shenandoah River right out your front door.

What makes this property unique

We can swim, fish, and canoe right from the house. Evening campfires overlooking the river are the perfect way to spend an evening after a day in the water. There is plenty to do without leaving the house.
