Great cottage
Cleanest stay ever and everything you need. We were disappointed we couldn’t walk to the pub at night as it’s just too dangerous with narrow busy road and no footpath, other than that brilliant. Thank you

Woodside Cottage
Nicely decorated, quaint cottage. There is everything you need for a comfortable stay. Lots of lovely walks nearby and the Bobbin Mill is definitely worth a visit. The spa that features heavily in its marketing is quite a drive away and pretty dated. We only went once and it isn’t really a great addition to the property. No pubs or restaurants in very easy walking distance as you have to walk on the roads. Lots of instructions and rules taped up on the walls.

Professionally run vaccation home
The house lies quietly and somewhat hidden close to Lake Windemeer and offers all amenities you may require. It is professionally run, various signs eliminate any potential uncertainties. There are nice sitting niches in the windows for reading and enjoying the scenery.

About the host

Hosted by Brian Smith

Host profile image
We are Brian and Alison Smith the owners of Woodside We manage Woodside ourselves and are passionate about it and our guests. .We respond to bookings and enquiries promptly.
We are a family of six who just love the Lakes. We love going for the walk upto High Dam and all my children have been doing it since they were babes in arms.
We started visiting the Lake District in 1993 and got the bug!

Why they chose this property

We are an owner run and managed cottage who take a real pride in providing a quality service and cottage. Our caretaker does a superb job in getting Woodside ready for our visitors and our location is fabulous for exploring the Lakes. Woodside is so near High Dam and lake Windermere, we can stroll there on a Summer's evening and take the view in. So relaxing, or sit in cosy comfort in Oscar's cafe at Lakeside and watch the constantly unfolding scene on the Lake , magical.
Our aim is to make your stay as luxurious and comfortable as possible. In equipping our cottages we have chosen high quality furnishings and fixtures and we have tried to provide everything you will need to have a relaxing and enjoyable holiday.

Each room at our cottage has been meticulously designed with a unique colour scheme and furnishings. We have just three bedrooms at Woodside , which means we can pay attention to every detail. Many guests say we have thought of everything, I hope you would agree.

We are a small business so it’s easy for us to combine a personal touch with high standards .
Every inch of our rooms were designed and crafted by us using quality, hand-selected furnishings and colour coordinated schemes.

We wanted our accommodation to ooze warmth and comfort to ensure you have a memorable stay. All rooms have quality carefully selected beds for a good night’s sleep and topped with layers of quality linen to sink into at the end of the day. You’ll also be treated to fluffy towels at Woodside .
You can unwind with free wifi, or simply sit at the table by the window with a tea, coffee or wine and play games. What could be better?

Oh, and did I mention the gardens? You’ll be surprised at what wanders or swoops across them. And of course I must mention the peace and quiet. Woodside is in peaceful location with plenty of bird song to enjoy! Deer, pheasant and wild ducks are often seen at the cottage!

What makes this property unique

We have owned Woodside for several years. We chose it because of its very special location and it wonderful character. You can come to Woodside and walk some of the most peaceful walks right from the front door or walk down to Lakeside and sit by the Lake. It is a very special and much loved cottage
