We love the Kutzke Neighborhood and older homes - this is our second home here. My wife worked at Mayo Clinic for 38 years and living this close eliminated the need to contend with parking as she could easily walk to work. I worked for Augsburg College in Rochester and could bike to work which I much enjoyed after years of commuting. purchased this house in 2005

Why chose Kutzky Park

We lived in various outlying neighborhoods in Rochester for many years - neighborhood home, acreage and a townhome. We always enjoyed Rochester but we always drove to get downtown and to work. In 2002 we moved to a house in Kutzke and enjoyed the people we met and the older homes. In 2005 we purchased our second home in Kutzke and still enjoy our time here.

What makes this house unique

The woodwork, floors, layout and vintage windows first drew us in. We loved having the master bedroom on the main floor, which is uncommon for 1920's homes. The proximity to bike trails, Mayo facilities and downtown sealed the deal.

A Perfect retreat to recover in from surgery!

  • 5 of 5

We've been to Rochester several times before for health needs and always stayed in motels. This time we knew it would be a 6 week recovery time and decided to rent a home for that period. We could not have picked a better home, area, or owner to help us through every need we ran into during this time. Wayne, our owner was "like family"; very sensitive to our needs from the normal ups & downs of surgical recovery. He walked us through the home as we arrived and gave us the freedom to treat it as our home. The comfort of that freedom allowed for a lo-stress recovery and healing for my husband. His home is spacious and has many similar items that I have in my home, so I really felt I was at home, not out of town as we faced each day after surgery. Even though you don't see the piano in any of his pictures, it became a soothing therapy for rest as I played tunes from long ago. Since husband slept, I would say that was a positive. The private patio off the 2nd bedroom on ground level gave us restful periods on beautiful spring days that also helped in his recovery. Access to Kutzky Park was an exceptional bonus for healing from major surgery and we were able to walk it daily as well as walk to the clinic for appointments or just plain walking activity.

The neighbors also embrace you as "one of them" and open their arms, but carefully respect your need to heal.

Wayne's home is completely supplied with most everything you might need (save some perishable foods!) for a long stay. It's clean and well furnished as well as artfully decorated so if you are looking for a "home away from home" and have to stay a while, I would encourage you to look this lovely home up. That 1st question you asked didn't really give me much choice in my answer, but indeed we both grew to "love" staying here in spite of not necessarily "wanting to come here".

Owner's Response: One of the benefits of opening our home for rentals has been the remarkable people we meet along the way who handle their journeys with such grace.

Perfect for our family!

  • 5 of 5

Wayne’s property was perfect for our family! The house itself was clean and comfy. The washer and dryer in the basement, as well as the additional living space there was much appreciated. The loft on the 3rd level was perfect for my husband and me. It has everything you need. Our adult daughters each had their own bedroom on the main floor.

A few of the things that made our stay very enjoyable for our family include the following:

Recliner in the living room - perfect for rest and recovery after surgery

Internet - fast and reliable - this made it easy for us to catch up on our work obligations while at Mayo

Location - right in between the Mayo Clinic, and St. Mary’s Hospital. We were at both during our stay, and were able to walk to each.

Also...very close to bike trail, which we utilized for biking, running, and walking.

Close to downtown (Mayo Clinic), so lots of good restaurants

Washer and Dryer - as mentioned above, very nice models

Loft- this was a perfect place for my husband and me. I set up a mobile office, was cooled by air conditioning, there is a TV, queen bed, bathroom. The ceilings are low, and the steps are steep, so watch out for that. We didn’t have any trouble.

The kitchen is nice and well-stocked. It is small. We used it for breakfast and lunch, and mostly went out for dinner. We found ourselves so busy going back and forth from Mayo, that it was easier to eat out for dinner.

Overall...a very nice stay. There are wood floors throughout, and the house has a very nice energy to it.

Excellent Home. Owner is great to work with.

  • 5 of 5

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here. My family and caregivers stayed here while undergoing medical treatments at the Mayo Clinic. The home is ideally located to the Clinic and Methodist Hospital. It was extremely comfortable. There was plenty of room for my family plus caregivers to join me during my extended stay in Rochester. All that stayed loved the home!

Great home away from home.

A peaceful sanctuary to come back to after meeting with the great physicians at the clinic. Spent a week here after our daughters surgery and it was just what we needed. Thank you Wayne for helping out with every detail of our stay!!

I can't imagine a better place to stay in Rochester!

  • 5 of 5

This home is well maintain with all amentites. Very close to Mayo Clinic and easy walking distance to downtown. I stayed for two weeks while my wife had surgery in February and simply walked to the hostpital while she was there. Afterwards it was perfect for a restful recovery before returning back to Dallas. Wayne was great to work with and very accomodting. I would highly recommed staying and will return!
