About this property

Reconnect lakeside w/private waterfront & tiki bar & 4 bdrm mainhouse.

Welcome to Sunrise Point on Molasses Pond!

A summer & fall weekly & weekender rental retreat on 6 acres, w/ 300' of private shoreline, tiki bar, dock, swimfloat, & paths throughout our beautiful lakeside property.
Camp Molasses is peacefully situated in the woods & on Molasses Pond in Eastbrook, Maine.
We have 4 kayaks available with rental.
Available for summer, & fall rentals: weekly & long weekenders paradise!

We have Frisbee Golf, cornhole, swim float, dock, water games, lawn games & more provided.
Eastbrook is located approximately 29 nautical miles to the North-East of Mount Desert Island (MDI) & Acadia National Park.
The Main House @ Camp Molasses has 3 bdrm & 1 study with a queen sleeper sofa, 1 full Bath w/ laundry, full Kitchen and Wi-Fi and can sleep 10+. There are 4 queen beds, 1 pull out sofa & futon. We have a wonderful outdoor shower!!
There is a huge sunny deck that overlooks the lower lawn & small pond, while down a short nature path leads to 300’ of private waterfront, dock & waterfront camp sites, exclusively for the use of you & your guests only!
The Main house is set back from Molasses Pond by several hundred ft while the waterfront campsites are along the waters edge & very private. With fire circles, picnic tables and tent spots on the ground. All campsites are for the exclusive use of you and your guests, no one else has use of the property during your stay.
Molasses Pond is a 1,252-acre Recreational-Friendly Pond with a maximum depth of 47 feet; Principal fisheries are Salmon, Brown Trout, White Perch & Bass. Jet Skis ARE permitted as well as almost all other watercraft on Molasses Pond.
Our private dock is for your blissful enjoyment of swimming, boating, kayaking, fishing, lounging and everything Molasses Pond has to offer.
Our shoreline is rocky. The water depth is shallow in front of the property & gradually extends hundreds of feet beyond the dock. We have a swim float anchored just off the dock. Great for young waders, distance swimming or just floating around. You will find tons of blueberries lining the shores of Molasses Pond and on our property. We prune the hundreds of wild high bush blueberries every March when the snow is gone. Great to make jam, put them in your pancakes or add to your cocktails!
We see lots of wildlife on our dock, small fish to large eagles perched overhead.
With our central-western shore location on the pond we find the dock to be our favorite spot to watch weekend fireworks & relax away from the hustle and bustle of our busy lives.
Please be safe and wear life jackets when on the pond & helmets when biking on trails; follow local rules & regulations & use good judgment.
All waterfront activity is pass at your own risk and there is NO lifeguard on duty. Never leave children unattended.
For those looking for relaxation and a cold beverage, there are lots of places to do both on this property! Our large sunny deck overlooks the huge lawn where soccer, croquet, volleyball, badminton and bonfires happen!
There is a big bonfire to tell stories, roast marshmallows and catch fireflies! Bring extra camp chairs!
Don’t forget to take a book or a nap by the water in the hammock for complete summer paradise!
Yes, there IS Internet and Wi-Fi at the house as well as a landline phone, but NO cable or satellite service.
We usually stream movies via Netflix and music via Pandora. Yes, there is a DVD library to choose from at the house as well as 2 T.V.’s and 2 DVD players and a simple am/fm/cd player radio.
There are also books, board games and some toys. We were very reluctant to get Wi-Fi service uptacamp because we enjoy the disconnect. Although it’s there, don’t use it! Enjoy each other, listen to the birds, read a book, play a game, write, swim, paddle, hike…
The house is fully stocked and we ask you to replace any supplies that you excessively use. We enjoy cooking so our kitchen is full of almost everything you need to prepare meals. The Kitchen has a toaster, waffle maker, blender, coffee maker, crock pot, microwave and a few condiments and spices.
Our washer and dryer uses H.E. ONLY Laundry soap.
If there is something specific you would like available at Camp, let me know and I will do all I can to accommodate your needs.
Hannaford in Ellsworth offers ordering online for scheduled pick up. It’s a great service and convenient, (book several days in advance during the busy season!)
Ellsworth: Grocery/Farmer’s Market/Beer/Gas/Propane/

Ellsworth is the closest “big city” to find big box stores like WalMart, Hannaford, Shaws, Home Depot, RiteAid, Walgreens, Dunkin’ Doughnuts etc.. and is about 25 minutes away from camp. John Edwards is located on Main Street next to Finn’s Irish Pub and is a local and organic market.
Right next to John Edwards is the Saturday Morning Farmers Market by local farmers and growers.
Simon’s Greenhouses offers organic and locally raised vegetables, diagonally across the street from Jordan’s Snack Bar on Rt 1 in Ellsworth.
If you want to load up on groceries before you arrive, I would suggest going through Ellsworth and doing that BEFORE coming to camp!
If you are traveling via i-95 and taking RT 9 to RT 179 to RT 200 to Molasses Pond Road, stock up in Brewer/Bangor.
Yes, there is a gas grill that uses propane. There is a propane tank attached to the grill, it may or may not be full when you arrive as we do NOT supply propane gas, but we do provide a tank for you to use.
Please remember to only fill what you will use as the tank needs to stay when you leave.
YES, we do allow pets: we charge $50/per week per pet. You must pick up after your pet, and if your pet becomes a problem nuisance to any neighbor of Molasses Pond, your pet must leave. Please keep your pet under your care and control at all times. Any issues will result in your sole responsibility for your pet and YOU ARE responsible for any damages done by your pet. Security deposits will be kept for any damages or excessive cleaning as a result of your pet or any “business” left behind on our lawn.

Property is in bad condition. Sheets were not washed. We found other people’s hair and nails In the beds. Carpets were filthy. Deck was In a hazardous shape. We were excited to grill then I quickly realized that the grill was falling apart and had tons of water sitting in it. No clean water at the property.

Wonderful Family Vacation Home
My Family had a wonderful week staying @ this home on our vacation this summer. It was so easy for check in and check out process. The house was clean and has a wonderful lawn for spreading out and game time. We loved the trail to the lake, and we had Kayaks to use, and the Pond is just breath taking. Very private. Our family would stay @ this property again. I would recommend this for any family.

Not what we were expecting
We were excited to stay at our lake side vacation rental, with so many amenities it would be a blast. However what was advertised and what we found when we got there were two different things. So we have listed the Pros and Cons so other vacationers know what to expect. Pros: Pot and pans in good shape;Dishes & glasses clean & plentiful;Nice location;Molasses Pond beautiful;Plenty of Parking;Corn Hole was nice;Tiki area nice;Beds very well made;Wifi & wifi calling/texting worked good;Nice magnetic closing screen on back door;Cozy feel to the house; At first Host was responsive with issues giving ETAs for resolutions Cons: No hot water in shower (new faucet in drawer, not installed; No smoke detectors (new ones still in package on table and in drawer); No land line;No power in bathroom outlet; No hairdryer;Issues with electrical outlets;Couldn't stream Netflix;DW door can't open all the way and smells;Refrigerator drawers broken, but stays cold!;Ceiling fan upstairs doesn't work and it's hot;Deck has loose & rotted boards covered with rugs;Old trashed pool under deck filled with stagnant water; No croquet, most outdoor games unusable; No canoe;single kayaks not steerable due to missing fins; Host never carried through with fixing issues with landline, fan, smoke detectors, streaming and no hot water, however did offer compensation, that's why this is a 3 star review. Even with the issues we managed to have a nice time with family. We will laugh about this in the future!

Remote lake house
If you’re looking for a remote getaway with lots of land and lake views this is it! Nice house, well manicured. We loved walking the dogs down the trail to the lake and/or lounging in the greens near the house. It is super-remote. There is Wi-Fi but it’s spotty so I wouldn’t advise conducting business if possible. This is where you want to go to get away from it all and have privacy with a view. Thank you for the stay!

Overall a great experience. Only problem is the single bathroom. For guests numbering 10 they could do at least an extra half a bathroom.
