This was the best!! We have stayed at several VRBO properties and this exceeded them all. Everything is top quality. All the way from the commercial grade appliances (a big plus for us) to the warm reception upon arrival. The kitchen was well stocked to start the visit. Eggs, butter, cream and scone mix in the refrigerator - which meant we didn't have to rush out to get something for the next morning breakfast. The attention to detail is much appreciated!! We had a great time following the maps to area attractions, but it was fun to just be at the house and enjoy some much needed down time. What a wonderful place!! Definitely take the drive to the "Grove of the Old Trees". You can walk as much or as little as you want to and the scenery is unbelievable. We also enjoyed the drive to the coast and a visit to "the" hill overlooking the ocean for sunset. Occidental has some great places to just wander and grab a meal - although we preferred shopping in the market and taking it back to the house to prepare our own. Even the outdoor grill was upgraded... Thank you, Robert and Jeanne, for sharing your "treasure" in Occidental! Dale & Jeanne

One of most special features of the cabin and it's surroundings is it's PRIVACY. The owners and caretakers live on the 6-acre property, but you won't see or hear them unless you need something. Another feature is it's security.... there is one driveway to the cabin, and it is monitored 24/7 by our staff. You can unwind in total privacy and serenity at the Wine Country Love Nest, while enjoying....all to yourselves.... a huge selection of amenities! Read on........
We have been hosting guests from all over the world for over 4 years. Celebrities and famous folks have stayed here in complete privacy. We book to 100% occupancy early, so get your preferred dates NOW! :-)

We give 110% of our attention to every detail of preparation for the Love Nest to always exceed your- (and our)- expectations. The pool, spa, sauna, redwood deck and patio are not shared with anyone. You will have it all to yourselves in complete privacy.
The solar heated pool opens on May 1 each year, and closes on November 1 of every year.

We have resurrected a 64-year-old hand made log cabin and turned it into a very unique and intriguing home. It is all together beautiful, luxurious and intimate.
The Love Nest sleeps 2 Adults in a TEMPUR-PEDIC 'Cashmere' California King bed with UPSCALE linens, and will accommodate 2 more Adult guests- (if approved)- in super-comfy twin beds in the "tree house"- a small, cozy, heated room just 10 steps from the main cabin. Our goal was to retain the charm of the home while COMPLETELY rebuilding every aspect of it's infrastructure.
We installed all new windows, glass doors, appliances, electrical system, plumbing system and a radiant-heated Chinese slate floor-(Floors are heated during Winter). Every room in the cabin has this slate floor, which is of many hues and a fascinating pattern. The gourmet kitchen features new upscale stainless appliances, all granite countertops, and gorgeous blue cabinets that were custom fitted by a local craftsman. You'll also have a nice Wolf stove with 4 burners and a big griddle for those mornings when you want to cook your own breakfast.
The Bathroom features a huge curved walk-in glass block shower built for two. There's a big skylight above, and a copper shower head from above. The bath also features a beautiful polished concrete vanity that was crafted by a local artist.
You'll have a 7.1 Yamaha/Denon/Klipsch/Velodyne sound system in the living room that is a real treat. There are built-in high-end Klipsch speakers all around the room. You will also enjoy an HD 8' diameter screen and a ceiling-mounted Sony HD projector. The combination of the screen and the sound system creates an absolutely terrific movie or sports viewing experience!
In the bedroom you'll have a wall-mounted HD 55' LED flat screen and a built-in Bose sound system. There is one more HD flat screen in the living room near the fireplace that's perfect to cuddle up in the afternoon on the cozy love seat to watch the fire and some TV. There's also a gorgeous new Yamaha Disclavier PLAYER piano for you to enjoy.
High-speed wireless internet service and complimentary long-distance telephone service within the United States are provided.
If you like to be super-cozy, you will love the heated slate floors during the Winter. Fireplaces in both the living room and bedroom top it all off. The living room fireplace will be loaded and ready for you to strike a match and have a romantic fire for your first night's stay! And……..firewood is always provided!
You'll have a generous amount of Keurig K Cups and a Keurig coffee maker. When you arrive, you will find some essentials have been supplied- Half and Half in the fridge along with some farm-fresh eggs and some O.J. Or- why not take a walk to nearby Occidental and have breakfast at Howard Station- a historic establishment with great breakfasts.
The outside of the Love Nest really fun, too!
THE SPA- called the 'Serena Bay'- It's BIG. It's a wonderful experience to gaze at the stars while soaking in this special spa. It's filled with fresh spring water from our own spring.
The POOL...… It's GORGEOUS, and solar heated during the warm season. (The pool is closed during the low season- November thru March). The adjacent lanai has a bar crafted from an ancient slab of reclaimed redwood that was harvested right off the property. The pool is surrounded by a redwood deck. It's fun to hang out in the expansive open-air 'surf shack' themed lanai by the pool in any kind of weather. There is a stainless gas barbecue that's always ready for grilling the dinner of your choice. On the patio you'll also find a charming fire pit for those starry evenings- making good conversation and s'mores. It is always stocked with firewood for you- just light a match and enjoy!
The outdoor sauna- made of all clear cedar wood, and shaped like a wine barrel. It's located just a few steps outside of the Love Nest's door. It's really a treat!
Sun? Lots of it! The Love Nest is located in a redwood forest, yet you'll enjoy a VERY sunny spot. You can gaze across the valley and you'll see that the Love Nest is actually located higher than many of the 100' tree tops in the canyon. Occasionally you can spot a Bald Eagle soaring high above, or the Red Tail Hawk mating pair that lives nearby.
If you are an outdoor adventurer you are going to love this place. You will be close to exciting open-air activities. Sonoma Canopy Tours will have you zip-lining over the Redwoods and taking in the very best view of the valley. Be sure to investigate the spectacular sky bridges and the 30 foot spiral staircase along the way. It is a riveting, astounding, and awe-inspiring journey that is sure to leave you with lifelong memories.
Get Ready To Explore And Restore............
If laid back style is more your thing or if you have had enough of an adrenaline rush for one day then it is a good idea to head into town. There you will find fantastic restaurants like the one at the Union Hotel which has unbeatable food and hospitality. If you like brew pubs, stop in at BARLEY AND HOPS for a great selection of beers on tap, live music and EXCELLENT food. There is also plenty of local artwork to check out and several quaint gift shops to explore before wandering back to the Love Nest for a much deserved respite.
We are on the grid, but our 10 KV Solar System provides for most of our electrical needs- We sell excess electricity back to the utility company during the Summer time.
We live close by on the 6 acre property and are extremely respectful of your privacy. If you need anything, we are a phone call or text away. You won't hear from us unless you ask!

Jeanne and I have been happily married for over 30 years. Robert was born in San Francisco and educated as a teacher- Jeanne was born in Santa Rosa and is an RN. We have lived in Sonoma County all of our lives. Our interests and hobbies are bicycling, traveling, hiking, kayaking, swimming, appreciating music and the arts, and enjoying the wonderful community of Occidental in which we have lived our entire life together. We always try to make the most of every experience that life offer us. We invite you to come, stay, and enjoy a visit at our very special cabin!
Robert and Jeanne purchased this cabin in 1956
Our property was purchased by my grandparents in 1956. Robert moved onto the property in the 70's to help them get along so they would not have to go into a care facility. Robert had fallen in love with this cabin when he was a little guy, and his dream was to care for the cabin after the grandparents passed. After his grandparents passed away, he and Jeanne purchased the property from the family's estate. It is a serene and beautiful sanctuary. The Wine Country Love Nest is a very special couple's retreat. We love it and we know that you will love it too! Everything you need for a very enjoyable stay is included in the rental fee, save food and drinks. We provide all of your firewood for the two fireplaces, and even your first morning's continental breakfast.
A special benefit of the Wine Country Love Nest is it's LOCATION. It is located near Bodega Bay and Northern California's stunning coastline on the Pacific Ocean- (20 minutes away) and a very short drive to some of California's finest wineries. There are wineries only 20 minutes away! There are vineyards within walking distance in our neighborhood!
You can bicycle to the charming little hamlet of Occidental in 5 minutes.
The close proximity to Occidental and it's wonderful restaurants, pubs and shops make for a very relaxing vacation. You don't have to go far to eat, shop, go wine tasting, go antiquing, ride, kayak or hike. The Wine Country Love Nest is centrally located to all that Northern California has to offer. You will love it!
We stayed at this beautiful cabin with our two daughters and it was very relaxing and comfortable. Swimming in the long pool in the redwoods during the day and barbequing on the patio while enjoying the koi pond, gurgling water features and wind chimes and then soaking in the huge spa looking at the stars at night was a perfect day. The kitchen is well stocked and we really appreciated all the extras that Jeanne and Robert provided like breakfast items in the refrigerator, coffee, s'more makings for the fire pit and wine! Thank you! We also loved the projector to watch movies on the big screen one night. Robert was great to work with and we are looking forward to meeting Jeanne on our next stay because we will be back!!
This was an outstanding experience. We were celebrating out 57th Wedding Anniversary and this was the perfect spot. A stunning Cabin
both inside and out. We were welcomed very warmly by Robert the owner
we immediately felt at home. Very beautiful furnishings a very comfortable bed a wonderful kitchen with all the amenities.
Our hosts Jeanne and Robert thought of everything, there were flowers
on the coffee table also wine and chocolate !! what more could you ask for. A a great sound system and a great assortment of music.
This was everything that I had hoped for and more, we had a private pool a Jacuzzi and hot tub. We would come home after a day of exploring and tasting wine and sit in the hot tub and watch the stars.
We would not hesitate to come here again we experienced everything,
from a warm luxurious cabin to stunning views of the countryside to panoramic views of the ocean and enjoyed the quiet and peaceful surroundings.
We celebrated our Anniversary dinner at the **Rivers End** recommended by our hosts ,it was excellent.
We saw amazing sunsets and sunrises.
We went to sleep at night listening to the frogs crocking and woke up in the morning with birds singing.
We would highly recommend the Love nest for Honeymooners and anyone wanting a quiet romantic getaway.
Truly a piece of heaven.
Maggie & Rick Morgan.

I'll keep it short because I could go on forever. The Wine Country Love Nest was the perfect getaway for my wife and I. Its romantic, adventurous, comfortable, cozy, hi tech all rolled up into one place. We enjoyed its central location to great hikes, wine tasting, award winning restaurants. Though you don't even have to go anywhere to enjoy it; as it has all the amenities you would want if you just stayed in for a couple days. Loved waking up to the bedroom fireplace coming on. Spent evenings in the family room playing cards and eating dinner by the fire place. Enjoyed a night time hot tub soak and morning sauna. The kitchen is gourmet chef style and really well appointed. It had many of the basics you would need cooking oils, seasonings, but probably best to check with Robert & Jeanne if you need something specific. The more time we spent here the more well thought out and care you see that they brought to the property. Thank you for the help in providing such an amazing place to stay and celebrate my wife's birthday. And thank you for the birthday wishes. We can't wait to come back!!!
We celebrated our 33 year anniversary and I picked the Wine Country Loves Nest as our place to get away because it had a real sauna. My happiness was sated there but to add to our adventure was the beautifully remodeled home with nicely selected knick knacks, modern kitchen with Wolf range, HD screens everywhere, including a home theater (I think I need to get one of those now). Outside, I'll add a very large hot tub and of course a pool, which we didn't use this time of winter. Koi pond. Even though it rained for half our trip and limited our hiking time, we enjoyed the home, relaxing, and I started and finished a book. We also were surprised with a mother and 2 baby deer that visited us at the great room patio door one morning. We recommend sleeping with the window slightly ajar so that you can hear the trickle of the stream below the house. We will definitely be back.
Wow! This is by far my favorite vacation rental of the last 10 years! Not only is it in a beautiful, private location but no detail has been overlooked in the creation of an exceptional, luxury experience. We greatly appreciated the well-appointed kitchen, high quality linens, awesome patio (even though it was pretty cold) and, of course, our welcoming hosts. The property was exactly as described, though somehow the pictures don't even do it justice. The fridge was stocked with some breakfast goodies (eggs, OJ, cinnamon rolls) and a welcome gift of wine and chocolate were waiting for us - though we didn't partake (dang food allergies!), the sentiment was greatly appreciated! It was also such a treat that we were able to bring our pups with us and have a "family" vacation. Occidental has always been one of our favorite destinations for day trips but now that I know about this little slice of heaven I have a feeling we'll be turning those day trips into weekends away. We can't wait to return in the summer to take full advantage of the pool and deck area. We've already shared this place with our family and friends who are all looking forward to booking as well. Thank you Robert & Jeanne for sharing your home!
Located just a very short drive to all that Sonoma County has to offer. The quaint hamlet of Occidental is rich in things to do and see. Great restaurants, fun boutique shopping, Farmer's Market, Organic market, and the world-famous Union Hotel. And- it is a road-biker's paradise! there is a world class ropes course just down the road (3 miles).
