About this property

Fantastic Views

Views, views, views and peace and quiet. If you want a place to relax, this one fits the bill! This newer home is just a short drive from the lifts, and offers peace and quiet for your ski vacation or cool summer getaway. Our home has everything you'll need for a relaxing unwired stay or as a base for the more adventurous- the kitchen and laundry room are fully equipped. Recently added hi speed wifi and streaming capability via fiber optic.

Fantastic views of Wheeler peak from here, and summers are delightfully cool and refreshing at 8600 feet elevation. Get away from that Texas and Oklahoma heat for a while, and enjoy golf, fishing, horseback riding and hiking in the beautiful Moreno valley of northern New Mexico.

Angel Fire has become a mountain biking destination, with excellent rides for all skill levels. Climb the tallest summit in New Mexico, Wheeler Peak, at over 13000', and a great view of it from the living room picture windows. Fishing for trout and yellow perch is terrific in Eagle Nest Lake, and anglers can ply the forest streams for coolwater trout. Hunters will find abundant elk, some deer and blue grouse nearby on National Forest land. The fall is particularly breathtaking, with the aspens coloring the mountains in a golden patchwork, and the wily bull elk bugling in the distance....a uniquely wild sound of the mountains.

In the winter, skiing is king, and snowboarders love the new terrain parks. Ample snowmaking will keep your family on the slopes even when other resorts run out of snow.

The house is centrally heated, and a gas fireplace for pleasant viewing in the living room. We now live out of New Mexico most of the year, and many of our clothes and belongings are stored in the closets of the house, so thank you in advance for excusing our crowded closets.

Shoppers and historians will enjoy Taos, a mere 35 minutes or so away, with many artisans shops, restaurants, and a lengthy history going back to the Spanish explorers hundreds of years ago. The area is so appealing that many movie stars have their homes here. Or head down to Santa Fe for even more variety, about 90 minutes away.

Note: There is good cell service and DVD players on the TV. Bring your streaming passwords for the Roku. During inclement weather in winter months, 4X4 vehicles or tire chains may be helpful for a short part of the gravel road.

Our home in Angel Fire is in Colfax County, which has recently implemented a 5% occupancy tax for hotels and vacation rentals. VRBO has not incorporated this change into their fees yet, so we have to add this on to the rental cost, collect the tax for every rental, and submit it to the county on a monthly basis. We have to collect this from you via a special offer or through the resolution center.

Please note: We consider reservations confirmed at the time we receive payment. Until that time, dates from your inquiries are not guaranteed.

Quiet location, great view
We enjoyed our stay at this location. Far enough away to feel remote, but a short 5 minute drive to Angel Fire for skiing and supplies. The roads were not bad, & we had no trouble driving to & from with a standard all wheel drive rental. Would stay there again!

Amazing vacation
This had to be our favorite vacation destination so far. The property was exactly as listed online and the views were even more spectacular than the pictures. The wildlife around was amazing and it was perfectly located between Red River, Angel Fire and Eagles Nest. We would love to be back someday.

Nice Get Away
We had a relaxing week in Angel Fire. The house and location were excellent. It was so nice being out in the middle of nowhere. I only have two negatives for the house. First, the master bedroom and second bedroom had no closet space or dresser space. We "lived"out of our suitcases for the week. That was weird and a bit inconvenient. Second, having no internet was a bit of an inconvenince. Having no cable or satellite was okay but having internet would have been appreciated. Overall, our stay was fantastic. We loved sitting out on the patio every evening. We cooked breakfast and dinner every day and the kitchen had all the basics for us to use. Thanks for sharing your home with us!

Great views
We look for properties with mountain views and wide open spaces and we were not disappointed. There were mountain views in multiple directions with sunsets over the mountains. There was good star gazing and the proximity to hiking all made for a very enjoyable experience. The property is located at the end of a dirt road, we would recommend walking up the road and continue walking even when it is just tire tracks in the grass right to the top. Great views and we saw elk grazing. We would have happily stayed longer than the week we booked.

Why they chose this property

Angel Fire is a family oriented ski and snowboard area, the best one for families in New Mexico... and it has the fastest lifts! So when we bought a ski condo, naturally it was in Angel Fire. Our kids were 6 and 8 years old at the time. Years later, we bough this place as our planned retirement home. We also love the hiking and fishing in the area, and enjoy the wonderfully cool summers as a getaway. We like to go backpacking up Wheeler peak and camp in a secluded basin, and watch bighorn sheep from our camp.

What makes this property unique

Quiet, Peaceful and great views. Lots of wildlife around.
