4 bedroom/ 4 bathroom villa adjacent Scarborough Beach
About John Carne
I am married to Annike and have 2 grown daughters at University. We have always loved Scarborough and now own several properties in the area, two of which, Atlantic Dream and Gone to the Beach, we rent out as holiday accommodation .
John Carne purchased this Villa in 2002
Why John Carne chose Scarborough
I always wanted a beachfront property in Scarborough and when this one came onto the market we had to buy it. Even then it was perfect for a self catering rental. Quiet, big enough for a couple of families, child and pet friendly and right across from the beach.

My family loved it 👌🏾 . Really impressed with the appearance of the property, clean and welcoming.
We had a great family vacation in this house . The pictures don’t do it any justice. My kids are still talking about it days later . The house is located in the secluded part of Cape Town ...minutes away from th beach , close to restaurants. If you looking for a home away from the CBD but has everything your family needs this is definitely it. The pool was clean and definitely a bonus . The Game room perfect for all of us .
The owner , John was very easy to communicate with , responds right away .
Housekeeper Salie was very pleasant patient. He waited to meet us on our first day while we were running late and explained everything we needed to know about our stay .Great experience 👌🏾
I will definitely recommend this property for that large group or family members .
- Keine Waschmaschine vorhanden trotz Beschreibung!

Dear Thomas I am so sorry you felt the house deserved only a 3 star review. With regards to the house being spartan, we would rather describe the house as being beach comfortable, a place you don't mind bringing sea sand into! With that in mind we covered all the floors in timber laminate flooring with rugs last year. In addition we refurbished the swimming pool (it might have been temporarily dirty as a a result of the winds we experienced before your arrival. It was cleaned on Monday morning), installed a brand new kitchen, repainted the entire house and recovered all the soft furnishings during 2018. With regard to the kitchen equipment we supply everything you could require of a stay. If you were short of anything, all you had to do was ask....In my correspondence with you, I explained that Cape Town was recovering from a water crisis and we are forced to make water savings. With this in mind we do not, at present, supply a washing machine. We also explained to your group that there is a laundry facility who wash, fold and iron clothes just down the road from the villa. When water restrictions are relaxed in Cape Town once again, we will reinstall the washing machine for use. The pool billiards are a set that I bought in December 2018. The only ball that is smaller then the others is the white ball which it is supposed to be. In short and contrary to your view, we invest significant capital and effort into making guest stays a wonderful beach holiday experience and great value for money.
Renowned for excellent swimming, surfing, wind surfing and fishing, Scarborough's peaceful village and conservation minded atmosphere presents a refreshing antidote to the nearby Cape Town bustle. Relieve stress by taking your family and dogs for a leisurely walk on Scarborough's beautiful long sandy beaches.
Forty minutes from the Waterfront, ten minutes from Simon's Town (with its many restaurants, fine swimming beaches and naval bustle) or Fishhoek (fine swimming beach, movies and shopping), Boulders Beach (home of the African Penguin) and adjacent to Cape Point and the Cape of Good Hope Nature Reserve, Scarborough is within easy travelling distance of all the Cape's major attractions.
Other draw cards include the finest whale, dolphin and bird watching while sporting enthusiasts can enjoy all sporting codes from golf (Clovelly and Simon's Town) to deep sea angling nearby. Scarborough main beach is one of the finest surfing beaches in the Cape.
Restaurants nearby:Whole Earth Cafe, The Hub and the Camel Rock Restaurant are a 5 minute walk from the villa. Excellent deli for organic produce and artisan breads and pastries can be found at the Hub. Other good restaurants, spectacular sightseeing and shopping/entertainment malls are situated within easy reach.
