About Dara Liberatore

I has always had a love of the water and boating. Although I did not grow up on the water, and did not come from a family of boaters, I have been drawn to water sports - swimming, scuba diving, boating - both sailing and motor. Prior to having my own yacht, I did a lot of chartering, and often found the charter experiences to be disappointing - usually because the boat was not in great condition. After spending over a year in Charleston working with a client, the idea of having a yacht and having it in Charleston, as well as filling a need in the market for high end yacht charters all came together. So, I started Atlanta Yacht Charters in December 2012, with my first yacht - La Nina. I recently renamed AYC to Low Country Yacht Charters, to better convey the focus and value proposition that this business offers, especially as I start looking to expand. Outside of boating, my core professional focus is strategy and operations management consulting. After graduating from Georgetown University, I spent several years on Active Duty with the Army, both in the Middle East and Germany. After coming back from Germany, I started my consulting career, taking a two year pause to get my MBA from Duke and then going to work with Accenture. I currently work with Alvarez and Marsal, helping companies improve their performance, across multiple industries and functional areas, with a focus on strategy, supply chain, manufacturing, profitability improvement and M&A.I welcome you aboard my yacht - La Nina - and hope you have a wonderful experience!

Guestbook comments from the owner

I am writing this note to say how much we enjoyed our cruise on La Nina. She is a beautiful boat, and perfect for what we had in mind for a break during our two-day company meeting in Charleston. Our manager gave us a choice for a "team building" activity, and one of them was an afternoon trip on your boat. Our decision was almost unanimous, and what a great choice it was. It was sunny and slightly chilly, so we bundled up a little and spent most of the time on the flybridge enjoying the amazing views of Charleston Harbor and downtown, with our wine and h'ordeuvres. Our thoughtful captain had the heat on in the cabin for whenever anyone wanted to go below and warm up. I must say, I have been to Charleston many times, but have never seen the city from the water on "my own yacht". I hope you don't mind the reference, but that's what it felt like! Thank you for our wonderful time. We will certainly be back.

Excellent Weekend Getaway!

  • 5 of 5

I wanted to surprise my husband with a weekend away, and was looking for something special and out of the norm. I did not want to do a standard hotel and did some research and found the La Nina! The previous reviews were excellent, so I booked a weekend stay that was simply incredible! While the previous reviews were all great, they certainly did not do the whole experience of sleeping on a boat justice!

Dara was so wonderful to work with, answered all of my questions and offered so many great suggestions as to sites to see while in town. She is incredibly responsive and made planning this surprise a breeze!!

The boat was immaculate, spacious and so comfortable we did not want to leave! We felt so at home and relaxed we felt like we were away longer than a weekend! There was no better way to relax then being under the stars with a nice glass of wine just enjoying time away with my husband. The level of tranquility this trip provided is unsurpassed, my expectations were blown away! I wish I could give a 6 star rating as that is what our trip deserves!

We are already discussing how quickly we can book a return trip and stay even longer than a weekend!

The la Nina was perfect for our family vacation. The location was convenient to everything.

  • 5 of 5

We had a great experience. Loved the location. This was our first visit to Charleston. Drove to Folley Beach one day, Isle of Palms and Sullivans Island, Middleton Place Plantation, and of course carriage tour, ghost tour and many great meals.

Loved Poogans Porch, Brown Dog Deli, Fleet Landing.

Great place to stay in beautiful historic Charleston, SC

  • 5 of 5

If you have never stayed on a boat before, or even if you have, LaNina is an excellent choice. A newer craft and has everything you would need and more for a weekend or week even. Comfortable for 4 people, super clean, and will satisfy even the most discriminating of guests. Easy check in with minimal tasks, walk off and lock the door checkout. Location of marina is as close to downtown as you can get, boat location at dock is one of the first you come to, so easy off and on the dock to land. We will return! Doug

A Great & Unique Place to Stay

  • 5 of 5

We more or less stumbled on this listing as we were looking for a place to stay for a few days in Charleston, and we're glad we did. La Niña was great--exactly as advertised--and worked well for the four of us (two adults, two kids). Thanks for your hospitality!

Chilly Charleston-Warm Hospitality

  • 5 of 5

Well, It was our first time to Charleston and we loved it! After having to re-book due to Hurricane Irma we finally enjoyed a relaxing time on the La Nina. Dara was outstanding in helping us with the re-booking from Sept to March. So much so; that we extended our stay with her from 4 days to 7. We are glad we did. She was very responsive via email, text and phone! The boat was perfect for the 2 of us. We had stayed on a boat before and knew that it would be smaller than an average hotel room. But we like to do things a little different and the accommodations were perfect. It was much chiller than we expected; but we arrived to a heated cabin that was very clean. Going through the Ins & Out of the boat was very easy over the phone as we arrived. The area is clean and quiet. Most neighbors in the marina are very friendly and will stop and chat with you. One of our favorite memories was making coffee in the galley and taking it up top to watch the sun come up over the marina. We had a couple of really beautiful sunrises. We did not shower on board simply because the marina showers are much more spacious, free and private. The La Nina has a small tv but we unplugged from that for the week. Wi Fi is available as well. Dara was a great host in that she recommended some great things to do in rain and shine. Our favorites: FOOD- the Variety(right at the marina)for breakfast, Raw 167 (fried oysters) Halls chop house, The Rhum Bar (painkillers) were very delicious and Palmetto brewing company (recommending the amber)! TOURS-USS Yorktown, Boone Hall, and Charleston Walking tour. Make sure you call the marine shuttle 15 mins before the hour for free shuttle service. They will always take you but they don't alway show up unless they know someone is waiting. Also down load the app "Social Bikes" and rent "Holy Spoke" bike at end of doc. Great way to see Charleston from your home on the water. We look forward in seeing the La Nina again. But it will never be soon enough. Thank you Dara for your warm hospitality. Until next time my friend!

Owner's Response: Oh Kimberly, it was truly my pleasure to assist you with this trip to CHS! You know how bad I felt that you couldn't get here in September, and how other sites did not assist you (even when mother nature was knocking on our door). I am just glad we were able to get you here for a fantastic Anniversary getaway...as well as help you kick back and relax for the week and not stress out about planning every detail! We cannot wait to have you back again...or maybe next time we will visit you;)
