Why Cheryl T Hornyan chose Old Town
Robert & I decided that we wanted to purchase a place near our youngest daughter, who has lived in the DC area for a few years now. While looking at homes in Old Town Alexandria, we fell for the history of this house (built in the 1700s by Captain John Harper), as well as the accessibility of all that Old Town has to offer and it's close proximity to the metro, so that we can easily traipse into DC when we wish without needing a car.
What makes this Townhouse unique
When you open the door to this place, it is like stepping back in time. We fell in love with every quirky thing about this house, from the window between the living and dining areas that slants toward the right, to the crazy staircase that leads to the third floor bedroom. Yet, the place still has all the modern amenities that provide us with a comfortable place to stay when we visit our family. Unfortunately, we only get to visit about every 6 weeks, which is why we decided to make it available on HomeAway. Many people visit Captains Row but our home is currently the only opportunity for people to actually experience it.

103 Prince St.
Amazing!!!! The perfect way to experience old town Alexandria. Beds were great. Bathrooms were excellent. Location is incredible. Right in the heart of it all. The host was very responsive and helpful. Parking is available everywhere. If you can’t find a street spot there is a garage right around the corner that offers overnight parking for far less than a hotel parking service.
The house is filled with character and charm. If you have kids they will love climbing up the stairs to the third floor.
We can’t wait to visit again.
OMG, so cute!
This townhouse was built in the 1700’s and is on Captain’s Row, a cobblestone section of Old Town Alexandria one block to the waterfront. If you want an authentic experience with modern amenities, this is it! It is nicely furnished with comfortable period pieces. Be warned, however, if you have any mobility issues. The stairs to the master suite are a little steep and the stairs to the attic twin room are more like a ladder. But, there is a small full bathroom up there so you won’t have to come down during the night. It was a little warm in that room until we realized we could use the fan to circulate the air more.
Location location location!
This property is fantastic! From the history of the property -accentuated by the fantastic decor- to the comfort to the owner, the property nails it, you’d be hard pressed to find better. Cap all that with the location -just back of King Street and steps from the waterfront- and your DC area vacation will plan itself. We needed 2 bedrooms and 2 baths, this home delivered on both and the master bath is resort style and luxurious. The second bedroom also has its own bath and, though smaller, reminiscent of the master. The home has everything needed, from coffee for the coffee maker to all needed bath supplies. All that AND more, The owner is available, fast to respond and a pleasure to deal with. I’be quick to let friends and family planning a DC visit know of 103 Prince Street and when I return this will be the first property I look for

Beautiful home in an ideal location. Cheryl is greatness facilitating a perfect weekend. The detailed property guide sent prior to our stay left no question unanswered. Her recommendations for dining establishments were spot on. We look forward to a return visit. She provides everything a traveler needs while away from home and more.
We both recommend this property. Great location, quiet, clean and very well equipped. Owner is a pleasure to deal with.
