Ask a questionAbout Bernadette O'Grady
Seamus and Bernadette, having settled in the beautiful medieval city of Galway, were pleased to find this peaceful site on the seafront within a short distance of their home. Bernadette, retired Primary school head teacher, adores walking the Flaggy Shore which affords her time to birdwatch the wintering Brent geese, oystercatchers and curlews, while in the midst of farmers engaging in their seasonal work. Seamus, retired Director of Adult Education at NUI Galway, takes advantage of local fresh fish availability as cooking is his favourite hobby. Of course, the excellent pints served by Vincent in Linnane's Lobster Bar down the road, is greatly appreciated.
Bernadette O'Grady purchased this Cottage in 2000
Why Bernadette O'Grady chose New Quay
This property, we feel, is in a perfect location. It was a dream come true for us to find a location which is situated on the edge of a beautiful farming countryside, on the waterfront with beautiful views and with access to wonderful entertainment and activities. Both Seamus and I come from a rural and farming background and have spent our working lives in our local city of Galway, so it was important to us to find a somewhere we could relax in our spare time. With the surreal Flaggy Shore only meters to the left, you can become one with nature. While for those more lively folk, Kinvara is renowned for it's music and festivals, and Galway city is only 40 minutes away for the keen historians and shoppers!
What makes this Cottage unique
The stunning location at the the edge of the Burren and overlooking Galway Bay is what had us fall in love with this home. The house is an ideal family base. The spacious garden facilitate BBQs, play or general relaxation. The gallery and upstairs area allow children to have free time away from parents who wish for peace and quiet.
