Sporting a fun Alaskan bush pilot theme, the Taildragger Inn sits nestled at the base of the Mt. Marathon. This one bedroom apartment is ideally located within walking distance of downtown Seward and the boat harbor. Hiking trails are just around the corner, including the renowned "runner's trail" up Mt. Marathon - Although connected to the main house, the apartment uses a separate entrance and does not share space with the owners, affording you privacy. The apartment is compact, yet meets all of your needs with a full kitchen, 3/4 bathroom, and bed space for four. After a long day adventuring around the Seward area, you can relax on the couch and enjoy a movie on Netflix or take in the long Alaskan daylight outside around the fire pit.

Perfect in every way!
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in this cute and cozy unit set in a tranquil residential area. It was very walkable and super close to the free shuttle around town. This place is exceptionally clean and well appointed. A must mention is the quality of the bedding. I LOVE the sheets and other bedding. The bed was super comfy with great hotel style pillows. I had to untuck the sheets all around to find out the brand and am going to order them for my own bed!!! Jill was awesome. Super nice and communicative. Would stay here again in a heartbeat! Highly recommend!

We enjoyed our stay. Bed was nice, good bedding, pillows, no squeaking! Limited tv options…. Netflix was all we could figure out. Walkable to town, and Mt Marathon trail head. We did Jeep trail which was pretty tough, but a great sense of accomplishment. Enjoyed Rockfish tacos at place in town, and Jdock fishing. Easy dealing with host. You can hear footsteps upstairs as you would in any 2 story dwelling, didn’t bother us at all.

About the host

Host profile image
About your hosts: Jill first came to Alaska from the Pacific Northwest as an 18 year old to work seasonally in the canneries during the summertime, experiencing different areas of the state before permanently moving to Seward in 1990. Ronn arrived in the last frontier in the mid 1990s to take a job teaching in the village of Naknek and soon realized his boyhood dream of becoming a pilot: a year later, he moved to Seward. The two met years later, marrying in 2007. They raised four children in the town and are looking forward to adventures with grandchildren soon. Jill and Ronn enjoy the outdoors and spend much of their free time there - hiking, camping, biking, canoeing, skiing, ice skating or just resting on the deck in the summer. In addition, they have two enthusiastic and energetic canine children - Dax and Hank - who can often be seen playfully running alongside their people.

Jill and Ronn also love to travel and meet new people, and share their town with others. Over the years they have hosted five foreign exchange students and quite a few random travelers. They now look forward to opening their home up to others and continuing with the tradition of sharing their town.
