Large studio home in newly renovated stone house, sleeps 2
Why Leigh Ann chose Central Eleuthera
We bought our first property, Palms at Double Bay in 1995. We added the property to the north some 12 years later and discovered a small stone cottage buried in the bush, reportedly the first structure built on Double Bay. We didn't have the heart to tear it down so we contracted with a local builder and completely renovated the cottage, adding porches to the footprint. We are excited to offer this special cottage to guests as we have Palms for the past 20 years.
What makes this Cottage unique
Palms cottage has always been a place of privacy and peace. When renovating the stone house we took great care in retaining its island flavor and the privacy of both homes. We cut a separate path to the beach and have begun a few plantings around the house. The south end of Double Bay is especially private because there are few homes there. The beach in front of the property is all sand and extends into the water on either side. And then there is Double Bay, a beautiful two mile stretch of pink sand.

Just the two of us!
First timers to Eleuthera. So we really didn’t know what to expect. But Clyde, Anne and their daughter at Island Farms helped us feel welcome. Beautiful restoration of the old stone cottage. Awesome beach - really private. Explored a few other beaches. All jaw dropping but found that we were happy with our “local” place on the sand at Double Bay. Outdoor shower!!! And last but not least - the night sky!!!
Thank you for preserving this peacefulness and beauty.
We will be back ❤️

We stayed in this lovely cottage for a week during our most recent visit to Eleuthera. Beautifully furnished cottage that had everything we needed for our week stay, including beach chairs, umbrella, snorkeling gear, and grill. Cottage was just a minute walk to the pristine beach at Double Bay. Anne was an excellent host. Would definitely stay there again.
Can’t think of a single way to make it better.
This is a beautifully renovated, one room cottage with a large wrap around porch set amongst tailored palms, hibiscus and little tufts of grass. The sounds of the ocean carry up to the property, and the gentle rustling of the wind in the trees mixes with the sing song of local birds. A short walk through a cleared pathway and you are beckoned by the soft, pink sand, turquoise waters and gentle waves. It really is magnificent. And if you walk to the right, towards the point of Palmetto, you can shore fish, where husband caught a snapper, barracuda, yellowtail and something so big, he couldn't reel it in. Elation! Swimming is delightful as is just hanging by the shore reading or relaxing. And of course, the daily walk. There is no TV. For a minute it felt like a problem but for the duration of the trip we didn't stream or netflix or watch anything. We read and talked and walked and enjoyed cooking fresh Black Grouper (also caught by husband) on the outdoor grill. Kitchen worked great for us and we did a fair amount of cooking. We added our favorite Trader Joe's Chili Lime seasoning to the growing collection as well as some olive oil and a few other items like coffee, salt, etc. Oh, and two bottles of wine - a white & red - for the next guest! We hope you enjoy and maybe start a new tradition. The bed is wonderful and we are picky. The air conditioning did the job and a washer and dryer is really nice! From this centrally located area, you are postured to explore the island and all it's beautiful secrets OR as was our case to stay close to the cottage and Governor's Harbour. Husband did rent a surfboard from Surfer Pete in Gregory Town where he caught some waves on Surfer's Beach. A nice group of surfers there - enjoying the left break for goofy footers. We visited the local organic farm (almost daily!) who is also the caretaker (can't recall her name) and purchased many of the lovely treats/sauces/dips/salsas & fresh everything. If R&R + romance is what you are looking for and peace and quiet and the most beautiful beach on the planet...you will love this place! Truly, just a one of a kind.
We loved returning to this little house again for a peaceful and comfortable stay, thanks to the owners and property manager! Only wish we had had more time, great location on a great island.
Everything exceeded our expectations . The house is perfect for two who want to get away. We spent the majority of our time at the house on the porch. The craftsmanship of the house inside and out was impressive. The house is centrally located for groceries and exploring. Prices vary at food and liquor stores . Compare before you buy. We looked forward each morning to our walk to the beach (think Forrest Gump running to get bubba). We saw something new each time. The beach has easy sandy access into the surf. Good beach chairs and umbrellas are provided. There are great snorkeling reefs a short walk to the north and south. If there is rough surf you can drive about 10 mins to ten bay beach on the Caribbean side. Tough choices ! Anne bethel was very responsive with any questions we had. We had a chance to talk with Leigh Ann . She was very knowledgeable about the island check with her own recommendations for fish markets and beach bars. We rented an suv from Big E and had no issues . They were great. We were very pleased with the entire trip. Oh yea stop by the paradise gas station for banana bread and island farm for pot pie
