About Owner/Property Manager
Growing up in the Twin Cities, heading north on the weekends was always a treat. Now we have been able to share this experience with our own kids. Our 3 kids love the cabin as much as us! The kids can act like kids, exploring, swimming, tubing and telling stories around the fire. It's also a great place to spend time with old friends, new friends and family.
Owner/Property Manager purchased this Cabin in 2011
Why Owner/Property Manager chose Nevis
We bought this cabin because it just felt like what a cabin is supposed to look and feel like. It's a log cabin with pine trees surrounding it in a peaceful western exposed bay.
What makes this Cabin unique
Log cabin rustic feel with all the luxuries of home! Privately nestled in the pines, you can enjoy a morning cup of coffee on the deck listening to loons and enjoying the wildlife in a quiet bay, yet it's only 2 minutes from town.
Great spot for a family vacation
We had a great and relaxing week on Spider Lake. The tranquility of hearing loons calling and sitting on the deck was peaceful. We enjoyed the pontoon (it started perfectly every time) and time in the crystal clear water. Did some fishing, some swimming and some just plain relaxing. Had bonfires a couple nights. Weather was perfect. Shopped Walker and Park Rapids, enjoyed time in Itasca State Park, ate at Nevis and utilized the grills at our "cabin for the week". The cabin was clean and well appointed--we had all we needed! Definitely would love to come back again.
Great vacation on Spider Lake.
We enjoyed everything about this place-the wildlife was wonderful the fishing good, the location perfect, the lake like glass almost every day. We loved watching the fish while sitting on the dock looking down into that clear water. We had a nice fish fry while there(everything else was catch and release). We were there June 20-27, 2015 and really hated to leave. K and B
Summer 2015 Family Vacation
Our family spent a week up at this property in June of 2015. The facility was awesome, had that log cabin feel with a great view of Spider Lake! The lake access was clean and the kids enjoyed splashing around in the water at the beach front. The guys caught a good share of sunfish as well, enough for a couple fish fries. We used the provided pontoon for some cruising around the lake. Since Nevis is between Walker and Park Rapids, it was a great location for shopping and site seeing. The beach in town was clean and clear as well! We'd recommend this as a great family spot for a summer vacation!
Great Up-North experience!!
We had a great week on Spider Lake. The beautiful log cabin was perfect for our group of 6 ladies. Plenty of room, very clean and comfortable. The cabin tucked into the tall pines brought back memories of my childhood vacations up north. It was wonderful to share that kind of vacation with my girls.
The pontoon worked great for fishing. We caught several bass, a few northerns and some sunfish. We also enjoyed swimming and floating on the lake.
We spent the one rainy day exploring Park Rapids and Walker. Lots of cute small town shops.
Thanks to the Paul and his family for providing us with a beautiful cabin to have a relaxing up north family vacation!
Our family spent a week here in August. The cabin was a great value for the price. We had plenty of sleeping space for 6 people. The property is close enough to many of the local small towns that you have many options for grocery runs, trips to restaurants or day trips. We took a day trip to Itasca State Park and also to the Walker area, neither of which are very far from the property. We used the firepit every day, in the mornings and evenings, and you are surrounded by pines. Spider Lake seems to have at least three different sets of resident loons, one set of which is often right in the bay near the cabin. Loons are calling throughout the day. There is also a resident bald eagle, which was usually perched in a tree across the bay from the cabin each morning. At certain times, all of the loons are calling and the eagle was screeching. Very cool. Other than the birds, there is very little noise and very little boat traffic. The water was crystal clear. We did not find the fishing to be very good during our week at the cabin but we did use our runabout to do some tubing in the two deeper bays of Spider Lake. A canoe is provided by the property owner and this was used to paddle around the bays enjoy the clear views of the bottom of the lake. The interior is well furnished and there was plenty of cookware. Bathrooms are clean and there was always enough hot water for showers. We also used the available washer and dryer quite a bit. There is no wi fi at the cabin and our cell phones (AT&T, Verizon, and TMobile) had service on and off throughout the trip. We have already recommended this cabin to friends and family. The owners were very easy to deal with and promptly responded to any emailed questions that we had.
We are always happy to hear that people enjoy the cabin and wildlife/scenery as much as we do. Nothing beats the view from the firepit, except when a couple loons float by or an eagle soars over. Fishing in August can be a little slower, that's when drifting a weedline with a minnow for northerns or working the lily pads with plastic for bass can produce some action. Because we also use the cabin in between renters, we especially appreciate renters that treat our place as if it was their own.
This place is great. It is very private and all the trees around it are beautiful. The cabin is awesome. Very rustic but yet modern. So far, the best lake rental we have been in. The lake is very unique. We rented a pontoon and the lake was perfect for the pontoon. We were able to access all bays. It was a great lake for the small kids and adults also, a very private bay. The deck off the back of the cabin was our favorite. We spent most of our time there, overlooking the lake. Truly, everything you could want. The is absolutely no negatives. We will be back!!
