About the property

One Bedroom, One Bathroom, Large Eat-in Kitchen, Sleeps 2+ Adults

This charming ground floor one bedroom apartment is situated at the edge of the picturesque lakeside village of Strobl, with mountain views from the apartment. It is only a 5-10 minute walk to the village centre and waterfront, with bakery, supermarket, post office, bank, restaurants and tourist office. A public path runs near the property, that is enjoyed for cycling, jogging, horseback riding and walking, and meanders through a beautiful nature protection area. The beach is a 2 minute walk from the door.

Every season offers a different appeal:

The summer days can be spent lazing at the lake, hiking in the mountains, or enjoying visits to cultural and historic places and attractions.

In spring, experience traditional Easter celebrations and customs at various local events.

In winter, the Wolfgangsee advent and Christmas market runs from Nov 18-Dec 31, Thursday to Sunday. The local customs and cultural fare are beautifully displayed with a floating peace lantern glowing over the lake. For the outdoor enthusiast in the winter months, there are a number of excellent downhill ski areas close by, and cross-country skiing trails which are accessible from the edge of the property, and also up at the Postalm nearby. On December 31st, Strobl brings in the New Year with an amazing firework display over the lake, synchronized to music, which is a memorable event!

There are always museums and galleries to explore, and music events and tours to enjoy throughout the year.

The Salzkammergut area of Austria is well-known for the beauty of its landscape in this lake district at the edge of the alps, for the fascination and interest of its history, and for the intrigue of its unique culture. There is plenty to see and do, to appeal to all interests, whether it be outdoors enjoying nature, participating in high energy activities like hiking, cycling and skiing, or sightseeing and experiencing the many museums, concerts and cultural events.

Strobl is one of three quaint & historic villages on the shores of lake Wolfgang, which are linked by road and ferry service. There is good public transportation by bus and train for guests without a car. It is a half hour scenic drive to Salzburg, the famous city of Mozart, with its historic castle and Mirabel palace, and the home of the 'Sound of Music'.

This freshly renovated ground floor one bedroom apartment is a welcoming and cozy place to stay while you explore the beauty of the Salzkammergut.

For large groups and families that may need extra space & bedrooms, you may also rent our 2 bedroom apartment, The Mountain View Loft, on the top floor of the same house, which accommodates an additional 4 guests. It can be viewed at VRBO Listing #288364.

Tout simplement parfait!

  • 5 of 5

Strobl - a perfect location

  • 4 of 5

Strobl is a charming little lakeside town, pretty and peaceful. The Alpine Garden Suite is perfectly situated, just two minutes from the swimming beach and five minutes from the centre for shopping, restaurants and the ferry. Beautiful walks from the door, with easy access by ferry and cable car to the higher terrain, and a forty minute drive to elegant Salzburg. This ground-floor apartment has a spacious comfortable bedroom with a lovely ensuite. (Just a pity the curtains were very thin and barely closed.) The kitchen/lounge was very well equipped with all you would need. The seating area was adequate, but strange that the TV was in the bedroom. It was lovely to sit in the garden in the cool of the evening and listen to the exquisite birdsong. A sun parasol would be useful during the day. We hadn't realised there would be permanent residents in the apartment above who rose at 5.45 during the week, and held an outdoor gathering on the Saturday afternoon and evening (our last day) which went on well into the early hours, just opposite our bedroom window - not what we were expecting on our holiday. However Stroble is a perfect place for a holiday. Enjoy!

Beautiful

  • 5 of 5

The Alpine Garden Suite was beautiful! Our stay was perfect. The apartment was well equipped for all of our needs and was an easy walk into the quaint town. The lake and boat ride to St Wolfgang was an added bonus. I will definitely return - our stay was much too short.

Fantastic holiday, perfect accommodation!

  • 5 of 5

Great accommodation with large bed, clean bathroom, well equipped kitchen and quality wifi!

Spent the week biking, walking and swimming. Lots of information for this in the flat or great extra advice in local tourist info.

Local shops larger than expected and plenty option for eating out too.

Particularly enjoyed the sun on the garden all through the day so that we could eat in the garden after a long day in the hills.

Local transport was value and reliable. If traveling to Salzburg airport then bus 2 from the airport to the train station, then bus 151 from there to strobl.

Surrounding villages worth a visit too.

Hope the weather is as good for you ;)

We will be back!

A lovely place!

  • 5 of 5

Beautifully finished flat, with all modern conveniences. We appreciated the comfort of the super king size bed! Spotless bathroom with a great shower. We enjoyed meals out in Strobl as well as home-made food: the Adeg and Spar stores are excellent: don't miss the fresh roasted chickens outside the Spar each Thursday lunchtime :-)

Our holiday would have been better if we had got our travel arrangements right. If you plan to visit, (which is a good idea) don't be tempted to go for a quick transition in Frankfurt, because there is no such thing! Pick a direct flight, or relaxed rail/air connections.

Lovely apartment in great location

We enjoyed our stay in the Alpine Garden Suite very much. It was clean with wonderful amenities including a bottle of welcome wine. The location is wonderful for hiking and exploring the Salzkammergut. If we return to Austria we will stay here again. Bravo.
