Overview

About the property

3 Bedroom, 2 Bathroom, Sleeps 12, Fully equiped Kitchen, Washer & Dryer

This house was built in 1950 as a family home. It has all the amenities to make it your home away from home: fully equipped kitchen, linens, washer and dryer. 2 televisions with dish TV. There are 3 bedrooms and a 'family room' that has a full 'hide-a-bed', so it can be used as a bedroom. There are roll-away beds that can be used and a blow-up, full sized, elevated bed. All of the beds together will enable 12 people to sleep comfortably. The views are spectacular, the small stream running alongside the property has a comforting burble sound. The stream across the road has more of a rushing sound. The garage is a 2.5 car garage with a good concrete floor to keep your bikes/cars out of the weather. The driveway and road from rt-129 are paved. This is the place to make your base of operations for riding the Dragon, the Blue Ridge Parkway, the Cherohala sky way, fishing or whitewater rafting in the Cheoah river (6 tenths of a mile away) or enjoying the Santeetlah reservoir. Come in the fall for beautiful foliage and spectacular views of the mountains afire with the colors of fall.

About Rick Bebout

I am a recent Widower. I was looking for a place that my family could go to for vacation and Holidays to rebuild our family without my wife of 47 years. I have ridden the 'Tail Of The Dragon numerous times, my wife actually followed me down it the first time, towing my trailer. This house just felt like home the first time I saw it.

Rick Bebout purchased this farmhouse in 2012

Why Rick Bebout chose Robbinsville

it is located 8 miles from Deals Gap (The Tail Of The Dragon), 6 tenths of a mile from the Cheoah river where me and my grand kids can fish or whitewater raft. I love Robbinsville, it has that quaint 'Hometown' flavor just like all the small towns I have lived in and just like the one where I live now.

What makes this farmhouse unique

A complete 'home'. Not a motel, or a camp-sight. It has a nicely equipped kitchen, a washer and dryer, 2 bathrooms and showers with one having a bathtub for that hot water soaking for sore muscles. The bedrooms are nice, with dressers and night stands. The living room and family room have televisions with dish. The garage is nice and dry for motorcycle or car storage. The setting with the mountain views is unmatched by most places i have stayed when riding the dragon. This is truly a 'home away from home'.

Notes:
This place is 'Biker Friendly' for Dragon Slayers and Whitewater Rafters. I have been riding motorcycles for over 55 years. I am a 10 times 'Dragon Tamer', I don't think you can slay this one. This place also is a family zone, I take my extended family here to get away from Florida.

Great Time

  • 5 of 5

Really enjoyed the location of the house. It was close to a lot of enjoyable bike rides. The driveway is biker friendly and also the garage was great for parking the bikes. The house was very clean. Rick was great and easy to work with. Rita was also great and easy to work with. Really enjoyed the country store just down the road. I highly recommend this house to anyone wanting a nice quite place to stay and enjoy themselves.

Family gathering

  • 5 of 5

This was an awesome place to meet with family from Maryland, Jersey and Texas. Close to Fontana Dam, Santeetlah Lake, and the Appalachian Trail. A major plus is that it is animal friendly. And an added bonus is that the owner checked with us to make sure our stay was going well. Just an FYI - no wi-fi is available. Which was not a bad thing. 3 days with no tv, or internet. A great way to just visit with family!!

Owner's Response: I am sorry, I thought you saw the router for the satellite WiFi, I guess I need to add that to the "Rules" for the house. Next time you visit I will let you have a special rate for that oversight.

Dragons Lair...

  • 5 of 5

This was our second stay, we were up for the Thanksgiving buffet at Tapoco Lodge. Even though we only stayed one night Rick's home is an awesome rental! The home is spotless and the location is awesome. We had a nice fire in the fire ring under a sky full of stars, no light pollution here folks. The quiet is deafening! We plan many return trips! Ten stars!!!

Great location close to the Tail of the Dragon and Cherohala Skyway

  • 5 of 5

Quiet and spacious house near the best roads in the area. Garage space for bikes is nice as well. Rick was easy to work with and communicated well about our stay. We arrived after dark and Rita, who takes care of the home, had the heat and lights on for us. Tapoco Lodge just down the road is worth stopping for lunch or dinner. Would stay again when in the area.

Owner's Response: Gwennita, I am very sorry your stay wasn't what you wanted. I wish you had called me or Rita to let us know this when you arrived. She and I pride ourselves on the cleanliness of my mountain home, I would have immediately refunded your money. I don't want anyone to be uncomfortable in my home and I certainly don't want bad reviews. The people who stayed subsequent to your stay didn't experience the odor and Rita has been down there a number of times trying to identify what it was. I wish we had the opportunity to experience the odor when you did so that we would could research the cause and resolve the problem. The only thing we can think of is that if you turned on the water or flushed the toilet when you first arrived the sulfur smell from the well water may have been what you experienced. I have a filter on the well that usually mitigates that smell, as a precaution I am changing the filter and we will continue to research it.
