About Christine Rich

We've been coming to Lewes for well over 20 years and absolutely love it here. It's a special town and well-kept secret. When our children were young we found Lewes Beach to be the perfect sand-castle building spot. Now that they are older, they still enjoy the beach but also take full advantage of the kayaking, fishing, bicycling and shopping options around town. We never run out of things to do or places to explore in Lewes. When we need a little more hustle-bustle we head over to Rehoboth for the boardwalk (Funland is the favorite boardwalk attraction) but we are always very happy to return to Lewes.

Christine Rich purchased this house in 2012

Why Christine Rich chose Historic District

On one of my early trips to Lewes I noticed this house, and more importantly all the fun that people were having on the porch, and fell in love with it immediately. It just looked like a fun, comfortable place to be, and it became my dream to own a place like this. When this very house was listed for sale it was a dream come true, and I am absolutely thrilled to be able to share this special home with others.

What makes this house unique

I want to make this special house comfortable and inviting for all who visit it. We've furnished it with a combination of lovely antiques and high-end new furniture. We always welcome your feedback in order to make the home even better, but we are confident you will enjoy your stay.

Immaculate, comfortable, and convenient!

We thoroughly enjoyed our visit to Lewes and The Pink Lady. This home was immaculate, spacious, updated, well decorated, comfortable, and convenient to all that Lewes had to offer.

We were able to walk to the beach, shops, and restaurants. Perfect location for a relaxing vacation!

This was the second time that we rented this house for our annual women's getaway and it was every bit as wonderful as the first time. The house is clean, beautifully decorated, and has everything needed for a great visit. The four of us had our own bedrooms and there was plenty of room to spread out. We enjoyed the well-equipped kitchen. The house is located a short walk from "downtown" Lewes and is very convenient to the Cape May-Lewes ferry. We loved the restaurants and shops and enjoyed a day trip to Cape May. We highly recommend this lovely house!

This is a MUST STAY if you're visiting Lewes!

  • 5 of 5

This was an anniversary trip for my husband and I, and there could not have been a more perfect home for our getaway!!! From the very start, the owner was so easy to work with and made the process seamless. She also offered great suggestions of things to do while in town! We were so close to all the restaurants & shopping on 2nd street, and we loved waking up and walking to the local coffee shop. We absolutely loved the home itself as it had so much character, and is a landmark in Lewes as the "Pink Lady"! The home was clean and well cared for (bed was very comfy!), and we can't wait to go back with the rest of our family. If you're planning a vacation in Lewes, this is the place to stay :)

Great house and location!

  • 4 of 5

Our family really enjoyed staying at The Pink Lady. It is a beautiful house with a charming and functional backyard. The house had a well stocked kitchen, books and games in the living room and family room, and a shed with with bicycles, boogie boards and folding chairs. I would have preferred if the owners also provided laundered sheets and TP (more than a starter roll). I still would highly recommend the house.

Owner's Response: Thanks for this nice review, I'm glad you enjoyed staying at the house. I'd really like to clarify for everyone reading these reviews that I provide bed sheets as a courtesy, and have no control over how they are left when switching from one guest to another. My cleaning person does not have enough time to launder sheets (we tried that and it didn't work very well). I do not live nearby. When guests make their arrangements I always mention that there is a local company that they can use to rent their bed sheets if they wish. Most rental homes in Lewes do not even provide sheets, so really I'm trying to help guests by at least having them on site. As for TP, I start the season with plenty of TP on site. By August it is quite possible that the supply has dwindled. I will clarify in my property prep list that guests should bring their own paper products just in case, and I'll try to stock even more at the rental season outset. There is also a small local grocery store around the corner where these items can easily be purchased. I really do want everyone to enjoy the house and town as much as we do, so I take this feedback seriously and always try to improve.

  • 5 of 5

Ideal accommodations for large family with children of all ages (5 thru 14); convenient (walking) location to town, groceries, Rx, restaurants, beach, State Park , and rentals (kayak, paddle board etc) and safe to bike for all ages. No need to return to coastal highway traffic until wonderful vacation was completed.

Car: not necessary

Lewes is a very special town, sometimes called the Nantucket of Delaware. As the 'first town in the first state' of the US, Lewes is a town of historical significance, but the best parts of Lewes are what is found today: wonderful restaurants, great local small-town shops, canal-front parks, and of course the beach. We especially enjoy 'Agave' a very popular Mexican restaurant on Second Street, and the local coffee shop (Lewes Bake Shoppe), and our son can often be seen enjoying a fine cup of tea while reading the day away at Cafe Azafran.

Another wonderful thing about Lewes is that you can enjoy both bay and ocean beaches because the town is situated where the Delaware Bay meets the Atlantic Ocean. Just across the Canal you will find Lewes Beach, a wonderfully accessible beach with plentiful parking and shower/restroom facilities for your convenience. From the house you can easily walk or bicycle to the beach. It's a great beach for young children.

If you prefer stronger waves, Cape Henlopen State Park is just down the road -- we usually bicycle to it. There's a large bathhouse for changing before you enter the beach. There is also a very charming Nature Center with hands-on activities for the kids, and free bicycles for your use if you need them. The bike path around the State Park takes you past the historic Henlopen Lighthouse and the site of U.S. army bunkers that were built along the coast to spot enemy ships in 1941. The 5193-acre park contains a wealth of natural beauty. In addition to the attractive bay and ocean beaches, the Gordon's Pond Wildlife Area features a unique saltwater inpoundment. Hiking trails and interpretive displays throughout the park help visitors to learn about the fascinating natural features found at Cape Henlopen State Park.

Finally, for lots of waves, people, and boardwalk fun Rehoboth Beach is just a short drive away.
