The place was fantastic but the green and red algae in the water at that end was a problem
Hide away cove
While the property looks beautiful, there were issues to deal with.
Upon checking in we found out that the water near the property was not safe to swim in due to an algae bloom. Thank goodness we rented a boat so that we could boat out to find suitable water to swim in for the week. The only Public place to swim on the lake was the State Park. There are not many places with just beach to boat up to that we found.
Next we were greeted by ants taking over the kitchen counters and sink area. I did call the rental office and nothing was done to help with that. Later in the day we found that the previous renters did not take their trash and left it in the trash cans. Again I called the rental office and nothing was done regarding that. Leaving it to marinate and smell in the 90 degree plus temperatures, with that being said we had to take our trash and recyclables to the recycling center daily! Who wants to do that on vacation!!
We also found no hot water in one of the bathrooms, mouse droppings on one of the beds, to which the rental office said they knew about!!
On Saturday a handy man banged on the door and and told us we had 10 mins to leave as the cleaning lady was on her way! We were in such a state I had to find my paperwork to be certain we had the property until the next day. This apparently was a miscommunication with the handy man and the rental office? No apology offered either.
The home is large and open with lofts that make it a noisy home. When one is up the entire house is up!
The cell service and internet service was extremely poor , to the point no business could be conducted. Guests had to drive to other locations to find internet. One always hopes a vacation is just that and everyone unplugs but in this day and age business never takes a vacation.
such as ants all over the kitchen counters and sink area. There were mouse droppings on one of the beds. The renters before put trash in the trash cans that had not been picked so that sat and smelled all week in 90 degree temps. No hot water in one of the bathrooms, vent fans that run all day. and it did not help that there was an algae bloom so no swimming near the house. The house is open with high ceilings which makes it very noisy. cell service and internet service was extremely poor.
Best vacation ever!
Perfect experience. Couldnt ask for a nicer house on the lake.
Better than the pictures online showed, and one of the best appointed rental homes I've stayed in
Perfect house and setting
Our family felt plenty of private space if desired, plenty of gathering spots inside and outside the house, convenience of boat ramp and slip for our boat- overall fabulous vacation spot!
This place is perfect! We enjoyed ourselves very much in the spacious yet cozy cottage.
Glad you had a good time - We hope you will come back soon.
Lake Anna features boating, swimming, fishing, water skiing and
everything water. It is 17 miles long with 220 miles of shoreline so
there is plenty to explore.
The area is filled with historic locations such as James Madison's
Montpelier, Thomas Jefferson's Monticello in Charlottesville, and
Civil War battlefields. Virginia mountains and Shenandoah National
Park are about an hour away. Lots of farms still line the Lake Anna
shoreline, making the area perfect not only for water activities but
for peace and solitude.
