About Mary Johnson

We purchased this home on the lake as a retreat from busy lives and away from crowds. We have renovated kitchens, carpets, bedrooms and all bathrooms to feel like your own home. We liked the fact we have seen three generations of moose families grow up on our back lawn.

Mary Johnson purchased this house in 2007

Why Mary Johnson chose Grand Lake

We have lived in several resort mountain towns in Colorado including Breckenridge, Summit County and in other homes in Grand County. This one has an amazing views of true untouched Colorado wilderness, and we can sit on our dock on the water to watch fish jump in the glorious evening sunsets. And we left the crowds behind. Sorry, no outlet malls near here! We are close to Winding River wedding venue and the Grand Lake lodge as well as the village of Grand Lake.

What makes this house unique

Unobstructed viewing of the Milky Way after sunset is a plus. Remarkable wildlife viewing from the deck that we never saw on our expeditions to Alaska. We can hike in Rocky Mtn National Park, hear the elk bugle, and be back home in our home within 20 minutes. Its the best of what Colorado was at the turn of the last century, a true west experience. Coffee in the morning watching fish jump at sunrise from the couch makes life worth living at Moose Lodge. We ask guests to keep the community quiet and observe quiet hours at dark.

Moose Central!

  • 5 of 5

This home is well maintained, and clean. The setting is so peaceful! We enjoyed the lake setting, the fire pit for smores, and the daily moose sightings. The location is great because it is between the town of Grand Lake and the entrance to RMNP, so it was easy to go to lunch or dinner out, and to access hiking trails in the park. I would recommend this home to anyone wanting a quiet and peaceful place to stay that is close to RMNP.

Awesome time!

  • 5 of 5

My family of five + friends stayed at this home while celebrating our daughter's wedding in Grand Lake. The house was comfortable, spacious, and really convenient for us. The owners were super helpful with questions. Moose hung in the front yard regularly. Hummingbirds dive bombed overhead. We had a great time and would definitely stay here again.

Perfect Getaway!

  • 5 of 5

We stayed here for a week for our son's wedding at Winding River Ranch. The location was perfect, as was the setting. It was about a mile from the ranch. Being right on the lake and seeing it's beauty each day was certainly a plus. Of course the moose sightings were also special. The house was perfect for our two families (all adults). Having the four bedrooms and three baths was perfect for us. There was plenty of space to get away if one needed to. Close proximity to Rocky Mountain National Park and the charming town of Grand Lake was great. The house is well-equipped and very clean. All-in-all, we couldn't have asked for anything more. It is a great house and working with Mary was delightful. Can definitely recommend this home to anyone!

Wonderful getaway in the Rocky Mountains!

  • 5 of 5

Our family spent a couple of days in this relaxing, lovely cabin over our spring break. What a great location that backs up to the lake with its own private dock. Cabin is near Rocky Mountain National Park, and offers many outdoor activities in the vicinity, both in summer and winter. We will definitely go back!!!

Very nice, relaxing location for my wife's birthday

  • 5 of 5

My wife wanted to go somewhere to see some moose for her birthday. We didn't see any moose during our stay but did see a nice herd of elk less than a mile from the property. The home was very nicely decorated and very up to date. Very clean and well maintained. The lakefront location was great and the view was gorgeous. We went to Rocky Mountain Park several times and it couldn't have been more convenient to the park entrance.Having the small refrigerator and coffee maker in the lower level is a nice touch, if you have a house full of people. My only recommendation would be to have one larger TV for watching football games.

Comfortable, inviting home with a beautiful lake view!

  • 5 of 5

This was our second year to the Grand Lake area, vacationing with our daughter, son-in-law and their three little ones. This home was perfect for our family, so comfortable and inviting, with a cozy feel but lots of room. The house was beautiful inside and out, with extremely tasteful decorations complimentary of the area, nice furnishings, historical antiques, and great art work and books. The deck was great, loved the view of the lake, and lake access was so convenient with a good dock for the kids. We liked being there so much that we didn't even go into town for dinner! But we did take advantage of RMNP being so close and did lots of hiking. Oh, and the moose sightings were a real plus! We'll definitely be back!
