Roomy cabin with many amenities
We had a great time at this cabin with the lake and closeness to Shipshewana and many good restaurants. Our son loved the time spent on his kayak. Very roomy cabin with comfortable beds. Smelled a little musty and damp, but kind of expected that with a cabin on the water. Fishing was not good because of all the rain they had a week prior. Would recommend this cabin to everyone.
Everything what we needed was there...great view of the lake, sunny deck, nice neighbors and warm water...thank you
The cottage is comfortable and welcoming.
From the moment we got there, we were pleased with the place. The lake had over 30 swans and a large flock of ducks right outside the window. Every room was clean well furnished. A modern kitchen with full size stove and fridge. We brought our two dogs and there was lots of space. The tv reception was clear. The lot is right on the lake and on a dead end lane so it was quiet and very little traffic. The cottage is a short drive from Shipshewana and Goshen. The country roads are picturesque and the Amish farms quaint and charming. It was a great place to stay and I hope to return some day.
Thank you for the wonderful review. Please come back!
Great location - very nice cottage with lots of space!
We had a group of 10 women, we fit comfortably and had a great time! The view of the lake is beautiful! Hoping to come back in the warmer seasons!
Stay at lake house
When we arrived and entered the house we immediately drew back because of the smell. It smelled similar to urine or an old, deserted house. I called John and he apologized but said he had just been there and did not smell anything. I assured him all 4 of us did but that we would just go by air freshener and candles to burn. After all, we were already there and had driven too far to go back home. We also did not want to lose the money we had paid for the rental. When we sprayed air freshener and lit 3 scented candles the smell was better but we had to light candles and spray as soon as we came back into the house each day. The bathroom definitely needs to be worked on and the mattresses need to be replaced with some that are easier to be slept on. We also went out and bought some egg crate foam to put on the beds after not sleeping the first night.
That's the bad. Now the good...The lake makes all the negatives go to the back of your mind. It's absolutely beautiful! We sat and watched swans swimming around, geese coming and going, and the guys fished every morning and evening. Never caught a thing but they sure did enjoy the experience. Would I go back to this house? Probably not. Would I go back to this lake area. Definitely!
Peaceful private oasis
This was our 2nd stay this year. We really enjoyed the large outdoor deck with Tiki Bar along with a patio table. The color string lights give U the party atmosphere! May I add the outside speaker music was awesome! The paddle boat was fun also. I especially like the sandy & clear shallow swimming area. Sitting around the Fire pit in the evening over looking Fish lake is just beautiful. There is plenty of dishes, cookware eating& cooking utensils. Even a large Crock-pot! I never used the Dishwasher. If U stay more than 3 days I would bring extra bath towels. The King bed is comfy but the two twins not so much! The sleeper sofas are good. Plenty of extra bedding is supplied. Enough parking for 3 vehicles. A treeline for your dog run is ready to use. I would replace tub with a walk-in shower only, because of the safety issue of older guests. The Sun room is spacious with large windows to view the lake. Wifi is very good strength. Would of love to use the Kayaks however no paddles available. The neighbors are friendly. We did catch a few fish. Since the lake is private no fish license needed. The boat launch next to this cottage does not belong to John the owner. This is a very nice and roomy vacation getaway.
