About this property

This 5 bedroom farmhouse is centrally located in the Adirondack High Peaks, on 5 picturesque acres with mountain views. There are 30 miles of hiking, mountain biking and groomed X-C Skiing trails from the back yard. There is a fire circle with free firewood and a gas barbecue grill for guests to use. We are centrally located in the Adirondack High Peaks, less than 10 minutes from Lake Placid and less than 20 minutes from Whiteface Mountain.

Eclipse Visit

We planned a visit to the property for the total solar eclipse. We had a wonderful time watching in the back yard. It had snowed quite a bit just before arrival, and mud was a bit of an issue, but it comes with the territory. Great stay, great house, and great (once in a lifetime) experience.

Yearly visit

We had a wonderful time at the house . It was comfortable and had everything we needed . Wayne was right on the property which was super helpful ! We hope to rent again next summer.

Mens Climbing Weekend

This was a terrific place for our mens weekend in the ADKs. Our hosts were great to work with and the lodge was super authentic and enjoyable. Good times indeed!

Family get together

Just spent a long weekend at the Mt Van Hoevenberg house. Two families, 3 kids and two dogs. We had a fabulous time. My son's walked in and said "this house is awesome!" It had plenty of room and Wayne and Johanna were terrific hosts. My only negative comments would be: 1. there are plenty of beds but none is bigger than a full, given that my brother-in-law and I are both over 6' 1" made for some cramped (and ultimately separated) sleeping arrangements for the adults, 2. The property is very close to a very busy road with some very speedy traffic which was noisy and a bit off putting 3. The only shower is downstairs, which was mildly inconvenient. That said, it was very close to the high peaks with hiking and cross country skiing trails literally out the back door. It had a homy and cozy feel and we had a great time. Thanks Wayne and Johanna!
