About Tom Sullivan

Tom and Cathy Sullivan - We started visiting Caye Caulker in 2006 with our 3 children and immediately fell in love with the island and its friendly people. The following year we bought a vacant lot over the last few years have built 3 cottages around a pool. These are know as Weezie's Garden Cottages and are 3 blocks from the ocean front property. On our first trip to Caye Caulker we discovered the ocean front lot and had dreamed about it until last year when took the plunge and purchased it. For the past year we have building a small hotel with 4 ocean front suites and one penthouse. The building was completed Oct 1st 2014

For the past 20 plus years we have been in the lodging business in Vail Colorado having owned and operated both the Minturn Inn and Hotel Minturn. We currently run Minturn Rentals which specializes in vacation home rentals.

Tom Sullivan purchased this cottage in 2006

Why Tom Sullivan chose Belize District

We chose Caye Caulker because of it's low key authentic vibe, intimate scale and friendly people. We love the fact that there are no cars or pavement on Caye Caulker. The primary modes of transport are bikes, golf carts or walking.

What makes this cottage unique

Weezie's Pink Cottage is part of Weezie's Front Hotel and Garden Cottages There are 10 full time employees and 2 property managers. Leo and Kiki Dominguez are the managers and reside at the hotel and do an excellent job taking care of the guests and properties. They are always around if you need assistance renting a bike, making a drink, suggesting a restaurant or fishing/ snorkel guide. Roberto and Pachi are the handymen jack of all trades whose primary responsibility is to care for the Cottage guests and grounds. The Hotel has a beautiful beach area and pier which Pink Cottage guests can use. There are 2 kayaks, 2 paddle boards, and a canoe that the guests can use free of charge on a first come first serve basis. There are also bikes to rent for $5 per day or $25 per week.

Belize City - Water Taxi to Caye Caulker (1hour) - Golf Cart Taxi to Weezies Ocean front Hotel where you check in with managers Leo & Kiki whom are very welcoming. After Tour of Ocean front property we went to the Pink Cottage which is off the Ocean a few blocks toward the back of the island. The property is gated, lighted and security cameras surround the homes. The grounds, pool and cottage is very well maintained and clean. We felt safe with our kids ages (9 and 10). The home has a cell phone for local calls, water dispenser, and cable t.v.. Beach/Pool towels and all the bath towels you could need. We enjoyed going to the Main Hotel area and hanging out on the Pier sunning and fishing. There are paddle boards, kayaks, canoes, volleyball, hammocks. It is the nicest kept property on the island. We rented a golf cart for $350 US a week instead of renting bikes or walking, mainly because #1 we are on vacation and #2 it is a ways away from the split area.

Recommendations: When sitting around the pool sand flies will bite you up - feet doesn't work as good as coconut oil( the locals use this, they said it drowns them). Bring less clothes and more cash. Book a Raggamuffin Tour as they are the best on the island - we had a great time!! Don't pass up Southside Pizza - so good !! Be prepared to seat lots of seafood, rice and coleslaw.. Sunday's are rest days - some things are closed. Overall the week we spent in Caye Caulker was good - take a few tours of the Barrier Reef it's amazing and Relax !!

Blown Away

  • 5 of 5

Wow. This place lived up to all expectations and even more. Everything looked just like the pictures. The cottage was a great size, with a good kitchen, nice sized bedrooms and great air conditioning. The pool was great to use on hot days and the oceanfront pier was only a short walk away and was paradise. It is a bit of walk from the downtown area so we rented bikes while we were there and it made it much easier while were there (especially coming home at night). We will definitely stay here again.

We loved Weezies!

  • 5 of 5

What a great place to stay on Caye Caulker. Everyone that works for Weezies was so nice and accommodating. It's in a location that is secluded but only a short bike ride from anywhere on the island! Beautiful clean swimming pool was a nice way to cool off after our bike rides. Thanks to everyone at Weezies for a wonderful stay! We will be back soon!

P.S. The supply of fresh bottled drinking water was an extra plus!

Great place to stay

  • 5 of 5

Our family of 4 spent a wonderful week in the Pink House! We spent our days out diving and fishing, this house was perfect to come back to for a dip in the pool and to relax. The house is very functional, clean and well maintained. Our 2 teenaged boys loved biking to Glendas for cinnamon rolls in the morning and we all loved trying many different restaurants for dinner. One of my favorites was Habeneros - yum!

We recommend this place to anyone and hope to go back soon!

You Found It! This is where you stay in Caye Caulker.

  • 5 of 5

I researched Caye Caulker for 18 months. We wanted some ocean and great snorkeling, we wanted a place out of the United States, we wanted culture, and we wanted laid back. We found all of this on this wonderful island. Cleanliness & privacy is also important to us which steered us towards Weezie's Cabins.

This 1 bedroom / 1 loft house is secluded, but a short (maybe 3 minute) bike ride onto Front Street where all the restaurants and shops are located. Ride 5 more minutes and you are at the far north end of the southern island which is The Split where the best swimming and sun bathing is found on Caye Caulker.

We LOVED the house. Clean. Kitchen. Great bathroom. AC! And, even satellite TV for the evenings or when a quick storm was happening. There were just two of us, but the house sleeps 5. There is a loft with a queen bed and twin mattress under the bedroom's bed that could be pulled out at night.

You definitely need to rent bikes or a golf cart to get to Front Street. Bobbi, the property manager, is full of helpful ideas and answers any questions you may need. Our mobile phone didn't work on Belize (U.S. Sprint), but since the cabin has Wi-Fi, we'd just email and she'd respond by the next morning.

Bobbi will also set up taxis from the airport to the water taxi and have a golf cart taxi waiting for you on the island as you arrive. First class service!

We plan on going back to Caye Caulker and we'd EASILY rent from Tom and stay in any of his properties. Like the title says... You Found It!

Or, they also have a pool which is rare on the island which is also kept clean. AWESOME CABIN!
