Staycation
We were welcomed with a thoughtful and delicious breakfast casserole. The chalet was very clean and well stocked with supplies. The hot tub was wonderful. I would recommend and stay at the Spruce Moose Challet again.
Comfortable, Private, Has Everything you need
This property was great for the 3 of us. It is very private, has everything you need, don't go shopping until you see what they provide, which is practically everything you can think of! It is easy to find off the highway with the yellow painted rock. Unfortunately the fires caused a haze which didn't give us the perfect views, but even in the haze Alaska is magical. We did a lot of hiking on the many trails along the highway, the chalet binder lists many hikes and there are some guide books for your use. The television service is internet based, so if you are not versed in the use of that it may be frustrating. The water has a slight sulfur smell, which did not bother me but did others. As with any loft, noise and heat travel up. There was a box fan that we used to make the loft more comfortable.
I personally found the chalet perfect and so much more provided than I had expected. I travel with a couple people who have "narrow comfort zones" so they were bothered by a few things.
Thanks Susan, glad you enjoyed your stay. Sorry about the fire smoke- Federal Managers are TOTALY responsible for letting that fire burn all summer. Feel free to send them your feedback. We have two other chalets with more bedrooms - hope you get a chance to give them a try in the future. The sulphur in the water is good for you, apparently- both inside and out- but we're much more accesible and cheaper than a hot springs spa :-) Best wishes and s=come back again!
Beautiful house but a few small issues
This is a beautiful house. The location is fantastic - near a lot of great hikes nearby and Seward is 30 minutes away. The kitchen was well stocked and we had a really great time. A few issues: We got no instructions on how to check in until a couple of hours before after a number of phone calls/texts. Also we asked for the beds to be put together 2x but got there and the were separated so we had to do that ourselves. Also, there were dishes in the dishwasher from the previous tenants and sheets and towels in the dryer. Also don't expect total quiet as the house is pretty near the road. And the internet is slow in case that matters to you.
great location
house was great and the area was perfect.
great location, everything we needed
The location is very convenient, about halfway between Seward and Cooper Landing / Kenai Rvier. We enjoyed having access to a hot tub on the deck with steep mountains all around. We were a little stressed by the instructions to call early in the day of checkin. We were in a canoe with no cellphone service for much of the day, but we called around 4pm and checked in around 6pm with no issues. We didn't do any serious cooking, but the kitchen was better equipped than most vacation rentals we've stayed in.
Great cabin!
Beautiful quiet location just outside of town. Definitely a great launch pad for exploring the area. Very comfortable accommodations as well.
