Overview

Photos and Description of this Alaçatı holiday house

2 bedroom, 2,5 bath home steps away from restaurants, cafes and 2km to beaches

LOCATION!!! This charming 2 bedroom 2,5 bathroom semi-detached house is located in the quaint town of Alacati, an Aegean town on the west coast of Turkey. Sleeps 4. Located just steps away from the shops, restaurants, bars, and cafes of the ancient village and only 2 kilometres away from the town's famous wind/kite surf centre, this home is tastefully decorated in the colours of the area. Bright colours blend with the sun and cool breezes to create an inviting, relaxing environment. Perfect for 2 couples OR 1 couple and 2 children (both bedrooms have en-suite bathrooms), there is plenty of space to spread out. You will particularly enjoy the front terrace, and the well-maintained, enclosed garden (with outdoor shower) which provides privacy, while everything the village offers is right at your doorstep. On Saturdays, a large section of Alacati is transformed into a spectacular covered market where you can buy local vegetables, cheeses, bread, olives, as well as linens, and souvenirs.

Unique benefits of the property: A hallmark of Alacati - ancient wind-mills dot the hillside above our home. These ancient stone built structures, and their modern counterparts, bear testimony to the steady winds that have favored this region for centuries. Indeed, Alacati is a very special place. By day you'll enjoy the myriad of activities: wind-surfing, kiting, the beaches, and the historic surroundings. Then in the evening, when you return home with sun-warmed skin, the town is transformed into a chic, classy experience. Dresses come out, and fancy footwear is donned (despite the cobble streets). You'll sit amongst the ancient homes, in ancient streets, enjoying the distinctive food and flavors, while marveling at the beauty of this unmatched locale.

About the owner: I'm a Turkish-American citizen who loves to introduce others to the beauty, and richness of my culture. The style of our home reflects this fondness of my heritage. We've used original stone throughout much of the house, and added design elements that are reminiscent of days gone by. At the same time, you'll find the amenities and conveniences that make for a very comfortable stay. We welcome you and wish you an unforgettable experience! About the Name: Lady Bird House. We refer affectionately to our home in Alacati as 'Lady Bird House' in memory of my grandmother whose nickname for me was 'Mujde ugurbocegi' - Mujde the Lady Bird.

About Mujde Pidduck

I'm a Turkish-American citizen who loves to introduce others to the beauty, and richness of my culture. I was born and raised in Turkey. I am an English teacher and did all of my schooling in Turkey except for my Masters Degree which I obtained in the US. I now live with my American husband and boy-girl twins in California, US.

We love to spend time in our Turkish property whenever we can! In our absence our lovely housekeepers (a local couple and their wonderful son) take care of our property and meet&greet our guests.

The style of our home reflects the fondness of my Turkish heritage. We've used original stone throughout much of the house, and added design elements that are reminiscent of days gone by. Why Mujde Pidduck chose Cesme

My husband and I fell in love with Alacati when we first visited it in 2006! It was the perfect place for us both; kite/windsurfing, beautiful Aegean architecture, galleries that reflect Turkish culture and art, delicious food, approximity to gorgeous beaches. When we returned in 2009 we could not resist being a part of this charming town AND we found our lovely home in a walking distance to all of the things we love about Alacati.

When you stay at our place 'Ladybird' you will understand why we feel so fortunate!

Guestbook comments from the manager

"We enjoyed your beautiful house very much during our holiday. It turned our holiday into a much much better experience than we expected. Nobody will believe this, but one hot day I didn’t even consider going out and enjoyed our house and especially the patio."

Very good.

The property was exactly where we wanted to be - within easy walking distance of the old town and our cookery lesson. Also within a stone's throw of a well-stocked small supermarket, which made life very easy.

We loved staying at the Ladybird House!

  • 5 of 5

What a beautiful, clean, cute and cozy home and equally quaint town. Parking was very easy since there is plenty of parking outside the house and even one in the side yard of the house for unloading beach gear, groceries, etc. The terrace was especially great for our breakfasts and evening BBQs. Our 3 year-old son loved playing in the yard. We walked down to the Saturday market and shopped for the whole week. The eggplants were our favorite. We also bought some Turkish tablecloths and towels (peshtemals) to take home. Gosleme (sp?)- the thin phyllo dough filled with spinach and feta made by village ladies in town were absolutely yummy. Thank you so much, we’ll be back!

Perfect stay in Ladybird house and great holidays!

  • 5 of 5

We spent 2 wonderful weeks of vacation at Ladybird house and Alaçati area.

The house was very comfortable and clean. The shower outside was useful for all the stuff of kitesurfing. The house is near the center of Alaçati and that's great to go there by foot in 3 minutes! We liked different beaches (ilica, pirlanta, kite beach,...) and the archeologic sites (Ephese,..). We recommend this property!

Harika Alaçati ve harika bir ev

  • 5 of 5

Kusursuz ev.

Tesekkürler Müjde Hanim, tekrar görüsmek üzere....

Being one of the world's top three windsurfing centres, Alacati is a home to European and World championship competitions every year. The beach and windsurf centre is only 2km from our house.

Alacati is surrounded by Blue flag beaches with the clear blue waters of the Aegean. The area is also known for its thermal springs and mineral waters with its natural spas and well established spa/massage centres.

Photographers and birdwatchers will also enjoy the area. (Izmir Bird National Park and scenic drives in and around Alacati)

Alacati's cobble streets and beautiful architecture with old rum houses and windmills are very well preserved. The barns and stores are now art galleries, quality restaurants, cafes and antique shops.

The famous Alacati Saturday organic produce market and antique bazaar are not to be missed!

If you are interested in night life there are beach night clubs open during the summer with well known European and Turkish bands and DJs.
