About this property

Experience Torch Lake

This charming “Up North” vacation cottage is located on Clam Lake directly connected to the southeast end of Torch Lake. The cottage features include 115' of lakefront, a dock, a 1.5 mile boat ride to Torch Lake and Dockside, and proximity to numerous vacation activities in the Torch Lake area.

The cottage boasts a spacious yard, a queen bed on the main level, a sleeping loft with two queen beds, a functional ready-to-cook-in kitchen with dining table for 6, and a full bathroom.

The detached bunkhouse sleeps five comfortably and has a full bathroom which makes it a perfect location for multi-family getaways.

There is an easement through the property that allows our neighbors access to a shared dock.

The world renowned shallow sand bars of the Caribbean blue Torch Lake are just a short boat ride from your dock. This vacationer’s paradise is a unique experience for boaters of all ages and keeps people coming back year after year. Torch lake is Michigan’s 2nd largest inland lake and has miles of sandbar to offer private areas to relax and swim and revel in Northern Michigan summer.

For the fishermen and fisherwomen, the shallow marshes at the southeast end of Clam Lake provide excellent cover for pike and panfish. The deep water casters will enjoy fishing for delicious walleye, bluegill, perch and brown trout. The lake is also home to muskie, crappie, smallmouth bass, largemouth bass and rock bass.

Golfers are only 10.4 miles away from the Shanty Creek Resort that features several greens including Michigan’s top public courses, The Legend and Cedar River. A-Ga-Ming Golf Resort is approximately 20 minutes away from your doorstep and offers Sundance, Torch, and Antrim Dells.

A gem of the area is the Grass River Nature Preserve at the southeast end of Clam Lake. Nature enthusiasts can explore 1,443 acres of pathways and trails that meander through five different ecozones. The preserve is property of Antrim County and free of charge to the public.

If you need a break from the outdoors or the weather's not cooperating, Shorts Brewery is right around the corner and Turtle Creek Casino is less than one half hour drive. The casino offers a variety of gambling games and entertainment shows.

Michigan Vacation
I have a lot of really great things to say about this cabin. It is very quaint, the location is great, and the fact that we could have our dogs was AMAZING! Dan is a great host; super communicative and responsive. He is easy going, relaxed and eager to please. The cabin + bunk house is well equipped with everything you need to accommodate a group. It is very much a cabin though. Very rustic and very "lake life", which was I thought was a little different than what the pictures/price represented. The space grew on us and we loved it. The neighbors were all VERY friendly. We tried really hard to stay respectful of our "noise". We had fires every night (there was soooo much fire wood for us to use), light music and a few adult beverages, we never had one complaint from any neighbor. Bringing our dogs was a huge bonus; we drove up from FL and didn't want to leave our dogs behind for our long vacation. All the neighbor dogs were great too! We met Roxy and Chloe and saw them regularly. The only "criticism" I can say is I thought it was a bit overpriced for the how rustic the cabin is, but I don't even know if that is fair because of the memories we made and the family time we had. There is a lot of space for everyone to sleep and again HUGE bonus we could have the dogs, so at the end of the vacation we were very very happy!

Holiday lake life
This is the quintessential lake cottage. Perfect setting for an unexpected weekend off. We loved watching the boats go by and our dog had the best time splashing in the water

About the host

We are Dan & Liesha M. We purchased this cottage in July of 2017. We live in the Grand Rapids area, and look forward to sharing our new "favorite place in the world" with others.

Why they chose this property

This is very much a cottage. If you're looking for a sterile, drywall, vinyl siding, take your shoes off at the door destination, this isn't for you. Heat with a wood stove at night, wear your shoes inside if you want, and bring your dog (once approved). It has a large deck and a dock is literally only a few steps away.

What makes this property unique

The separate bunkhouse makes this a perfect location for a multi-family getaway.
