About this property

The Highest House in Texas

WHAT MORE COULD YOU ASK? A fabulous ranch estate with 5 bedrooms, 4.5 baths, sleeps 12 (or more) on a mountain top. Mile High Hacienda is the Highest House in Texas and enjoys unbelievable views in all directions. The house sits on 10,000 acres (16 sq miles) of high desert. With two courtyards, one with a fireplace, the other with a Margarita Bar. It comes with a commercial kitchen and spacious dining area with seating for 12 plus. There are three large sitting areas and Navajo rugs add warmth throughout the entire house. Bedrooms are done in period style and the all adobe home offers privacy and views in virtually every window. The deck is truly a piece of work. It hangs off the front of the house and provides a perfect place for cocktails while providing an unbelievable view of the surrounding mountains and the lights of El Paso and Juarez, Mexico. The sunsets from the deck are stunning. It is the best view of El Paso you’ll see, we’ve been told.

Easily accessible, Mile High Hacienda is close to all of the El Paso & Juarez Metroplex. With national parks, hiking, shopping, and historical areas nearby, Mile High is a perfect setting for your visit to the El Paso area. Only 25 minutes from the El Paso Airport and downtown area, however you'll feel like you're a million miles away. Serenity and privacy are the comments we hear the most from our previous guests.
This estate is offered as a completely private unit for those that wish solitude, yet it is only 20 minutes from shopping. If this meets your requirements, book today, you’ll be very happy you did.

***EVENTS AND WEDDINGS***
Sorry we don’t book weddings due to abuse in understating number of people and using up all the water and ruining our water pumps.

Good big family house
You do need to understand and enjoy mountain desert setting. We enjoyed our stay; house could use a little tlc, but lots of charm and we were comfortable. Great views and off roading on the trails was fun.

Breathtaking Mountain Views, spacious property
This gorgeous property is just 34 minutes from the airport. It has breathtaking mountain views and a fun quirky feel. Each room has a unique fireplace and there are sitting areas located throughout the house. We had a large group of 12 and everyone was able to spread out and have places to reflect and enjoy some peace and quiet. We had some minor issues with the water because the house has a tank, but the owner addressed them promptly and the issue was remedied. The house was a bit dusty when we arrived, but once we aired it out and ran the A/C units it helped filter the dust particles. Donna was very attentive throughout our stay and made sure we had everything we needed.

Climbing friends meetup
Stayed here with a large group of friends (mostly bouldering at Hueco Tanks + White Sands national park + a few other POI). We really enjoyed our stay. Check-in and check out was easy. While we had a few problems on our first night, Donna has gone above and beyond to make our stay great and managed to fix our issue with a heater and water pressure in no time. Very responsive and kind host. The kitchen was large enough for us to cook meals for 12 people and there's plenty of space to hang out. Property features a particular style to it, which might not fit everyone, but was a great experience for us!

Greetings! I'm CJ Johns, a rancher, running cattle in some of the toughest country in the USA, and I wouldn't have it any other way. If you are here visiting I'd love to have you experience this wondrous country of mine. Some of my personal western collection is displayed in this home for your enjoyment. Mile High Hacienda was designed to give you the unique flavor and experience of this part of the Southwest. I hope you'll love it as much as we do.

Why they chose this property

This was originally a large ranch adobe home that sat next to a 10,000 acre operation that I had previously bought. Rather than see it be bought and built into something uncharacteristic of the area, I purchased it. After completely rebuilding, restoring and remodeling Mile High Hacienda, it is now available for you to enjoy. With the ambience and solitude of the high mountain desert and the convenience of a city, Mile High Hacienda is truly a one of a kind find.

What makes this property unique

Views, views, views. 360 degrees of views from the top of the high mountain where Mile High is located. The stunning sunsets from the deck or the colorful Margarita bar, are argumentatively the best in the Southwest. When the mule deer come in to water in the late afternoon it is a truly breathtaking event.

If you like hiking the Hueco Tanks State Park is only 6 miles away. ATV rentals are located nearby. The Guadalupe Nat'l Park and Carlsbad Caverns are down the road. Spanish missions are in the Rio Grande Valley.
