THE place to enjoy Maine’s coast and have fun with family!
We were so impressed with the Flying Lobster House! In spite of arriving during a Nor’easter with accompanying power outage and flight issues, our hosts were incredibly helpful until all issues were resolved, even checking on us later. A word to the wise: consider when you plan your trip to the area. Power does go out. The locals are friendly, helpful and used to it, but you might find it tough on your schedule. We were very fortunate. The house is awesome. Beautiful to see as you approach across the historic bridge and better still as you drive up. Ample private parking. The kitchen was spacious and comfortable. The bedrooms were so nicely decorated. We were able to stream a college football game our family gathered to watch, too! This was remote enough, yet accessible to many sites in the state for our visit. We truly loved it here...coffees at the waterfront watching the lobster boats capped it off on the beautiful morning. Thanks, Jim and Marijo!
Glad you and your family enjoyed your stay. It was a pleasure to have you as guests. Unfortunately you stayed during a northeaster and lost power one of the nights. It was only the second time it has happened in the past 5 years.
Hope you can stay at our property again. Thank you for your kind words and great review.
Great place to stay!
Five couples from high school (decades ago!) get together every 3 years for a reunion. We always book through VRBO and the Flying Lobster House was the best house so far. With 5 great bedrooms we all slept comfortably and the open kitchen/dining/living area provided ample space to catch up with each other. The fireplace is a great touch and added comfort and ambiance . Every room has a fantastic view and the proximity (walking distance) to several restaurants and bars was convenient. We enjoyed the fall colors and easy hikes right there on Bailey and Orr Islands and never has to venture far for anything. I highly recommend the Flying Lobster House!
Thank you for your great review. Glad you enjoyed your stay. Hope you can come again.
Fall Get Away
We stayed at this property this last weekend with 4 other couples. Each couple had a room with an extraordinary view. We loved the location and the ability to walk to restaurants. The property's description on VRBO was very accurate. We even got a call from the owner to make sure everything was okay. Nice touch! We will be back!
Thank you for the nice review. Look forward to your return.
Week with my siblings
My two brothers, sister and our significant others spent the week in this beautiful house with spectacular water views out of every window. Each bedroom was comfortable and well decorated. We cooked some of our meals in the well equipped kitchen, took a ride on the Schooner, kayaked and walked and shopped. We loved the fireplace and deck for long conversations.
Sounds like you had a great stay and enjoyed the Flying Lobster. Hope you can come again.
Flying Lobster House - Fantastic Stay
My family had a truly wonderful vacation at the Flying Lobster House in Bailey Island. The property is exceptional - large, luxurious and has impeccable water views from every window. The owners, Jim and Marijo, left incredibly helpful recommendations regarding things to do in the area and called to check in the day after we arrived to see if they could be of any firtuther assistance. The property is a wonderful place for those looking to vacation with a family. There is a sand beach at the cove right outside the door which is perfect for young kids. Two restaurants were within walking distance as are sailing charters/ferries for touring. We definitely are looking forward to coming back!
We are glad you had a wonderful and fun stay. Thank you for the great review. Hope you stay again.
Love this house!
We had the pleasure of staying at the Flying Lobster House in August 2019 as a family vacation with 3 generations. It was the perfect location. Watching the sunrise from bed, or the front porch and sunsets on the deck were unforgettable.
Cook's Restaurant just down the drive had amazing food and service. There are great hiking paths on the islands, areas to run and walk and not be on heavily trafficked roads, and kayak rental just across the bay.
The bedrooms were more than ample and every single one had a view of the water. Great breezes moving through the house all the time. The kitchen was more than amply stocked with plates, silverware, utensils, pots and pans. And the welcome bottles of wine were great!
It was a great area to explore, rest, rejuvenate, and just have fun. I hope we have the chance to go back as this was just a great location. It was the most relaxing vacation that I have had in years.
The only thing that would have been nice was a coffee maker in addition to the Kuerig, as with a group of adults its just more environmentally responsible to brew a pot....although we did figure out ways do to a good batch of cold brew coffee to use the following morning.
I can't rave enough about the house and the owner!
