Reminds me of home.

  • 4 of 5

I grew up in a Victorian style home and this reminded me of my childhood. I loved the house, the layout was very nice and well thought out. We came up for two days to ski at Perfect North and we really enjoyed ourselves. We were far enough away from everything to have a quiet stay and close enough that it didn't take forever to get what we needed. The sleeping arrangement was good. We had 13 people and it fit our needs well. The little area was quiet and we had no problems other than a racoon that got in the garbage and we had to pick that up.

The view was pretty neat. My children loved watching the barges go up and down the river day and night.

The only downside to this house was trying to get the temperature regulated in each room. The bedrooms were very toasty while the kitchen and living area was a little cooler. It is hard to get it regulated when it is 28 degrees outside but in a old house it can be near impossible. So I really don't count this against her. I just wanted to give full disclosure that a older house does have some challenges.

Perfect for our family gathering!

Clean and well stocked! The boys loved watching the river traffic. Would have been even better in warmer weather.

Well maintained and equipped for large families

  • 5 of 5

Home was very spacious with plenty of sleeping room for 4 adults and 11 children in our party. It felt like we were getting together in someone's home for the week.

Great house; great service; not so great neighborhood

  • 4 of 5

First, let me say that the owner and property manager were amazing and attended to our needs quickly and professionally, and it was a pleasure interacting with them. We stayed in this house for a three-day visit to the Creation Museum and Ark Encounter. Creation Museum is about 20 minutes away, and Ark Encounter is about 50 minutes away. As the person who booked the house, I knew what to expect as far as the neighborhood because I had researched it. However, not all the children and adults had done that and I didn't communicate to them what it would be like. It is an old town with pretty much nothing in it but old homes, but there was nothing dangerous about it. The owner assured us that she had had good relationships with her neighbors when she had lived there and there is virtually zero crime. Just looks a little sketchy, so warn the people who are going with you that they will not be driving into a luxury resort. This house is perfect for a large family or even two or three large families. It is adequate but not luxurious or upscale. There were 10 of us and we could have slept many more in all the beds provided. Plenty of room to stretch out, along with 2 kitchens. Hot water might be an issue if you have people filling all the beds. We had to stagger our showers. If you stay here, plan on either cooking your meals or driving 30 minutes to go out to eat.

About Deborah

While I was living in The Cottage (VRBO 384587) I noticed The Victorian three blocks away was in foreclosure. I love old houses! After seeing the monumental overhaul it needed, saying a few prayers, and talking to family and friends, I bought it...and was instantly overwhelmed!

First project: Put in a huge deck in back--the beautiful views kept me inspired during the long rehab. And now it's all finished and worth every bit of the TLC it required. Hopefully it blesses my guests as well!

Deborah purchased this house in 2007
