About this property

Unsurpassed Views Indoors And Out On This 3-Acre Vineyard Estate

Welcome to our home in the heart and scintillating soul of Sonoma County. Our sunny 3-acre estate is perched on a rolling hill between Sebastopol and Occidental and is punctuated by majestic sweeping views of vineyards, orchards, redwoods and mountains. Enjoy the ever-changing beauty of our terraced perennial gardens, chardonnay vineyard and young olive grove. We invite you to share in the seasonal organic bounty of our fruit trees, assorted berries, vegetables, and herbs or meditate in our fragrant rose garden. Our recently purchased home has been lovingly renovated and updated to take full advantage of the lush Sonoma lifestyle. Abundant large windows and glass doors bring the outdoors in and highlight the varied vistas from every room, from sunrise to sunset to starry nights.

Furnished with style and comfort, we invite you to sink into overstuffed couches and chairs, put your legs up on ottomans and reclaimed wood coffee tables, and dine on the antique farm table or the vintage teakwood set under the stars. With multiple, comfortable eating and seating options available indoors and out, your most difficult decision will be where to sip your cappuccino or pinot noir.

If you enjoy cooking, you will appreciate our large, updated kitchen with a new 5-burner Italian gas range, double ovens and high-end small appliances and cookware. The built-in gas grill is conveniently located on the back deck for added cooking options. Or explore the health benefits of juicing with our Breville juicer - there is no better place on earth for organic vegetables and fruit from our gardens or local farmers.

We hope that you sleep long and well in the three thoughtfully designed and furnished bedrooms. The large master features a queen bed, ensuite bath with double sinks, enormous window with rose garden views and sliding glass doors onto the terraced back garden patio. The two other bedrooms boast antique double beds, oversized windows and beautiful rose garden or back terraced garden views. All of the bedrooms have spacious closets, and are furnished with a writing desk and a dresser. They also feature quiet ceiling fans, blackout shades and new pillow-top mattresses, down comforters, and quality linens for your added comfort.

The large living room with its cathedral ceiling is warmed by reclaimed wood beams, plush sage couches, antique side tables, opulent rugs, and multiple personal lighting options designed for reading and relaxing. It features a 47-inch flat screen television with Direct TV and a Blu-Ray DVD system. Our cozy corner library contains diverse offerings for your browsing or reading pleasure as well as a local section where you find guidebooks and practical information to help you optimize your stay in the slice of heaven that is Sonoma County.

Nestled high in the back terraced garden, the hot tub provides a secluded, steamy oasis with exceptional views, including the distant Mayacamas Mountains. It is our favorite place to greet the day in the early morning as the mist rolls through the Green Valley and to enjoy sunsets that seem to last forever. Due to the presence of unobtrusive landscape lighting, it is also an ideal spot to count the stars.

Our home and gardens are smoke-free and chemical-free. The house has an open floor plan and wide doorways. There are only 2 low steps to enter the house from any door and the master bedroom has a large walk-in shower. We have tried to eliminate all barriers to your enjoyment of this magical space.

Perfect place to relax with a family
This is a comfortable, well set up, spacious and tastefully appointed home with everything you could need to enjoy a relaxing break with family or friends. The glorious late Spring and early summer garden was full of flowers and colour- a wonderful unexpected bonus! We loved wandering along the pathways and also picking berries from the vines with our two year old grand daughter. Gorgeous views over the vineyards and great weather made our stay perfect!

Rooms With A View
This house was a pleasure. Every room had a beautiful view of the surrounding vineyards and property. The back yard was flawless. The rooms were comfortable and the kitchen was stocked with all the necessities and more. I can’t say enough about the location. We will definitely stay there again!

Memorable Experience
From the moment we drove into the driveway, there was a feeling of peace that enveloped us. The vineyard in the front yard was more than we imagined it would be from the pictures. Magical in a way that can only be experienced firsthand. The home is lovingly cared for and appointed to meet one’s needs in all ways possible. The maze of gardens and vegetation in the backyard made the property feel as though there was something to see around every twist and turn. The stunning views from both the front and back of the house, in addition to the well-designed layout of the interior, made us realize how fortunate we were to have the privilege of enjoying such a unique property. Thank you Susan for your trust in us, as it is not lost on us the treasure that is your exquisite vineyard home. We are also grateful to Fern, the property manager who was readily available to us during our stay!

A place to relax and rejuvenate
Susan's home in the vineyards is perfect for a weekend getaway to just relax and be among nature. It offers some great views of the vineyards and has a lovely garden and orchard along with a hot tub. It's situated close enough to a ton of wineries and apple farms as well as downtown sebastopol which has some good dining options along with a farmer's market. All is all a great place to be stay.

My husband, David, and I are 'southernized' former New Yorkers. Born, raised and married in Brooklyn, our adult lives have been enriched by spending them in Memphis, TN where we have come to know and appreciate great music, Slow Food and wonderful friends. We fell in love with Sebastopol and the surrounding area on a romantic vacation in the summer of 2012. We were captivated by the physical beauty and the lifestyle. We never expected to find a house so quickly, as we cannot move for several years. But as soon as we saw this property, we knew that we could not let it go. So until we are able to live in 'Our Home in the Vineyard' full-time, we welcome you and your family to share it with our family.

Why they chose this property

This property has a magical quality that touched us from the moment we stepped out of the realtor's car; it has held us in its grip ever since. The property stirs your soul while simultaneously imparting a sense of tranquility. You feel exhilarated yet at peace. It is an intangible quality, yet undeniable and while a very personal experience, we have found it to be universal among all those who have visited. Perhaps it is the gentle slope of the hill on which the home rests, the beautiful, terraced gardens that are perennially in bloom, the accessibility of all 3 lush acres or the unusual diversity of the breathtaking views that surround the home. Perhaps it is the fact that the house and the outdoor living areas take full advantage of the spectacular surroundings by bringing the outside into every room. The house is spacious with large rooms and an open floor plan that is unique in this area. It is impossible to capture these qualities from the photos; we invite you to come and experience it for yourself.

What makes this property unique

To quote one of our guests, 'Home in the Vineyard is a warm hug': we could not agree more! It fills our senses and captivates our souls. At Home in the Vineyard, we are fully immersed in beauty and verdant abundance and delight in the casual elegance and comfort of the Sonoma lifestyle.
