Overview

About the property

Chalet, 5 Bedrooms, 4 Baths, (Sleeps 11)

The Big Cottonwood Cabin, minutes from Solitude and Brighton ski resorts in the heart of the famous Wasatch Range, and a short drive to Alta and Snowbird, is a unique hand-crafted log home built in 1997 by a Master Craftsman. Furnishings include many original rustic log creations, each one a piece of art. Four bedrooms have queen beds, and the fifth has a bunk bed with full bed on bottom and twin bed on top.

The 3500 square foot cabin is carefully and tastefully decorated with each room having its own special ambiance. Enjoy the great room with its massive riverstone wood burning fireplace, or the game room with its own massive wood burning fireplace and attached full bar, or just relax in the private outdoor six person Jacuzzi.

The Smoke-Free Cabin has magnificent views of Solitude, Silver Fork and Big Cottonwood, and with it's southerly exposure, sunny afternoons will draw you to the exterior deck after a long day of hiking, skiing or just playing in the snow, where, if not careful, you can get sunburned even in the middle of winter.

No expense has been spared in the creation of this magnificent view log home, less than one mile to Solitude, two miles to Brighton and 45 minutes to Alta and Snowbird. Enjoy a vacation you will never forget in first class accomodations.

Amazing cabin!

  • 5 of 5

Thank you! My family and I had a great time during our stay at your cabin! The cabin itself is so beautiful and unique. The surrounding area was great, including the hiking trail right out the front door. Everything was clean and in tip-top shape. We wished we could have stayed longer!

Great place for a mini family reunion

  • 5 of 5

We rented this 5 bedroom chalet for a family get together. The rooms were clean and spacious and the beds were comfortable. The kitchen was well-equipted and easy to work in. All the rooms were comfortable and well decorated especially the family room which had a beautiful view across the canyon to the Solitude ski area.We visited in the early summer so skiing was over but we used this home for sightseeing in the Salt Lake City area and hiking up out of the canyons into the mountains and this was a great location to do this. Mark was kind, accommodating and easy to work with. We would definitely recommend staying at this home. We'd come back in a heartbeat.

This beautiful log home is a skier's dream come true. Across the street from Solitude and minutes to Brighton–a short drive to Alta and Snowbird. Very comfortable with all the amenities you expect. Homey and spacious–perfect for family reunions and large groups. The five bedrooms were a big plus. Beautiful views of the mountains. Definitely need a 4-wheel drive vehicle to reach it in the winter. We will book it again next time we ski Utah.

FANTASTIC cabin!!

  • 5 of 5

This was an absolutely beautiful cabin overlooking the mountain, though is snowed almost the entire time we were there so we couldn't see it much. The furnishings and decorations were wonderful. We made a game out of finding additional little animals hidden in nooks around the home. It was a real treat to have a fully functioning kitchen complete with multiple sets of things, containers for leftovers, etc. It was incredibly clean and well stocked. Friday night over a foot of snow fell. The Canyon road was closed due to so many accidents with the snow so only those who were saying in the canyon could make it to the slopes. We were still getting first tracks at noon!! We particularly enjoyed the enormous fireplace! They aren't kidding when they say that all wheel or 4-wheel drive vehicles are required. The hills up to the home were a bit tricky. The hottub wasn't clean so perhaps call ahead and make sure it has been serviced recently.

Owner's Response: Thanks for your nice review. The hot tub is serviced weekly, which is recommended for a private residence, by a professional crew. Sometimes it does get dirty through heavy continuous use. Sorry to hear that it did not meet your expectations. I hope that in the future you will let our caretaker know so we can schedule an extra service to keep it clean through your stay. Thanks for staying with us.

Thank you so much for a wonderful stay. The house fit our 5 kids and 6 adults perfectly. It was only a couple of miles from Brighton and Solitude. The house had plenty of firewood and the kitchen was well appointed. We went in the hot tub after a long day of skiing. You definitely need a 4x4 vehicle to access the house during winter months, but who can complain about too much snow...

Perfect Winter Getaway

  • 5 of 5

We LOVED our stay at the Dismans' cabin! My family spent a snowy Thanksgiving holiday enjoying the space, and we could not have asked for a better vacation. Communication with the Dismans and the property's caretaker was quick and easy, as was the check-in and check-out process. The house is beautiful, well-stocked, and in an incredible location: close to skiing and hiking but tucked away, and there's a great trail right up the road! We loved the big family room, the fireplace, and the hot tub, and the beds were more comfortable than our own at home. The one thing we underestimated was how steep the road/driveway to the house is -- it was dumping snow the night we arrived and we couldn't get one of our two 4WD cars all the way up. Cindy did let us know ahead of time that the driveway is tough in the snow. We just happened to get a big storm that evening, and the road was plowed and driveable the next morning. All part of the adventure! We would love to return, and possibly to make this our family Thanksgiving tradition. Thank you, Cindy and Mark!
