At night the city lights twinkle from below. The Barn House at A Bit of Country is the perfect place for a relaxing vacation in a quiet , natural country setting only 10 minutes from town. Very friendly hosts. Conversion of barn to suite done very well, everything you needed plus more. Chickens were a great hit with the kids. Hope to visit again soon.

Barn House was a Delight

  • 4 of 5

Lovely well furnished, clean cabin behind the main property. Two bedrooms up with a large and well equipped kitchen with sharp knives (not usually the case). Just on the edge of town and a twenty minute drive from the cross country and ski hill. The only noise was the clucking of the hens int he hen house behind us and a pack of coyotes at night. Its a steep driveway up but it was well plowed. Happy to recommend. It may work better for four people rather than six unless it is a family.

A bit of Country

  • 5 of 5

We stayed in the converted barn for two nights and felt like it was a home away from home. Very well equipped, very clean with a cozy, inviting atmosphere. Fun to visit the chicken coop ( the eggs were delicious!), the horses and night view is fabulous! Our hosts were so friendly and accommodating, even though they were busy preparing for a large event, they still took the time to chat with us. We forgot our iPad charger and they agreed to return it to us by mail! We would recommend this lovely cottage to all our friends for a quiet and peaceful getaway. In the country but only minutes from all amenities! Enjoy!

Home away from home

Our girls were attending a tournament in Vernon and we have been tired of staying in hotels. The barn house was perfect for our family. Very clean and well maintained. We will be back again next year!!

Wonderful place to stay

  • 5 of 5

My wife and I and our two young kids drove all the way to Vernon from Oregon for spring break at Sovereign Lake. The barn house is well laid-out, impeccably clean, and very comfortable (especially the beds and comforters). It's up on a hill overlooking the town, very quiet with only the occasional neigh of a horse below. We liked it so much we stayed an extra night. Access to Sovereign Lake/Silver Star was easy -- only 25 minutes up a decent road. I can't imagine forking out all that money to stay at Silver Star. Dieter and Consuelo's rates were very reasonable. We will do our best to come back next year.
