About Tom Ferguson

Our family moved to Tulsa in 1985 from a tiny town in Kansas, where we had grown accustomed to small town living. To get away from the hustle and bustle of Tulsa, we finally found a little home away from home near Lake Tenkiller when we purchased Big Bear Cabin in 1990. As our kids got married and had kids of their own we needed more space, so in 2000 we acquired Little Bear cabin.

Tom Ferguson purchased this cabin in 2000

Why Tom Ferguson chose Gore

We love the small town feel of the Tenkiller Lake area, and there are so many things to do on the lake or off.

What makes this cabin unique

We all love the fact that most don't even know our cabins are there. They are not viewable from the street, so unless you know the turn-off is there they are our little secret. Nestled perfectly in the mountains, they are are close to our dock and marina, yet within driving distance of several restaurants.

The quiet and seclusion make the cabin a perfect Fall and Winter retreat. Settle in and relax, explore the woods in winter, or just watch videos with your family.

Birthday Weekend with family

  • 5 of 5

We arrived on a Friday evening in time to grill dinner. We brought charcoal and used the grill available but noticed there was also a gas grill for use. We stopped in Talequah for groceries-it's the closest nice sized town. We had a little bit of an issue deciding if we were on the right driveway as it is not marked and hard to spot. But I understand that this affords an extra element of privacy, so it didn't bother us much. The owner was very friendly and before our arrival had sent a message to call if there were any problems at all!

The cabin was spacious, clean and cool. I had brought coffee and filters but there were filters there. Very nice size kitchen and full size stove and refrigerator with an ice maker, which was a plus-we cooked all of our meals in the cabin. The kitchen was well equipped for our needs with plenty of dishes, utensils, and cookware. There is also a dishwasher so no need to spend time over the sink doing dishes. Just bring your food, drinks, cooking supplies {oil, butter, pan spray], and seasonings and your good to go.

The bedrooms were clean and beds were comfy-my brother and his wife joined us Saturday night and were impressed with the comfort of the bunk beds. The bathroom was nice and plenty big with endless hot water. Plenty of towels and wash clothes for your use. We brought our own swimming towels for the lake and river.

The living room was comfortable with a nice sized tv and cable, I believe there was a dvd, but we did not use it. Also, wireless internet in the cabin worked perfectly-although cell service was a little off and on.

The best part of cabin, well other than the delightful decor was the front porch. We spent morning and evening enjoying the forest view.

Thank you so much for a very pleasant stay!

Perfect weekend get away

  • 5 of 5

This is our second visit to this cabin. We love the first as much as we loved this visit. This cabin is very quiet, secluded, clean and well stocked with everything you could need ( and if you forget something, Dollar General is up the road). We loved sitting on the porch and talking until late in the night. All the comforts of home (satellite TV, WIFI) with the relaxing atmosphere our family needed. Just minutes to lake ten killer, fin and feather and Soda Steve (great food). We will definitely be back for our third visit. Thanks Tom!

Mr. Ferguson my family and I want to Thank you so much for opening your beautiful home to us. We had the best time. If your looking for Tranquility this the place to be. Secluded on a dead end road with beautiful tall trees all around. This house includes everything you need. Even had internet and cable tv.. The shower was amazing. The water pressure was better than mine at home. Beautiful Lake Tenkiller is only like a 10 minute drive from this home. I would rent this again and again. Thanks again Mr. Freguson.

Quiet little cabin hidden in the trees close to the lake.

This was the second Independence Day week that we've stayed here. Cabin is great. Right size for a couple or up to 5-6. Our kids are college and high school age and we had and extra this year. Plenty of sleeping room. Kitchen is appointed right for staying at the lake. Plenty of pots and pans to make breakfast and dinner. Charcoal and gas grill (gas one was new this year). Shower has plenty of pressure and hot water. Plenty of towels, soap, tp, ect. AC is good and cold. Tom is a great host. I got my truck stuck in the drive due to all the rain and he called some friends with 4x4 and pulled me out. Just don't pull your boat down to the cabin because there isn't much room to turn around and get out and it's a steep drive. We'll be back again.
