Nestled in the middle of the city, in a luscious garden, this adorable cottage is a refuge carefully designed to provide a very #cozy stay. The independent apartment/studio with queen bed, kitchen and sitting area is extremely well equipped for #comfortable modern living, even for long term stays.
Just blocks away from the #FrenchQuarter, Garden District, Convention Center, Magazine Street, Arts District, the finest galleries, most celebrated restaurants and bars & legendary museums of #NewOrleans
Greetings! We are Matilde and Gustavo, both visual artists. We came in 1999 to #NewOrleans for an exhibit of Gustavo and barely few hours later fell irrevocably in #love with the city.
Gustavo is a well-known artist and regularly shows abroad and other cities of the United States. His work (and mine) are permanently on display at Kezic Gallery in the #FrenchQuarter. You might want to organize a visit to Gustavo’s art studio in the Bywater.
We moved to New Orleans where we found a perfect mélange of village and city life with great entertainment. We are foodies, finding wonderful dining experiences in New Orleans is easy and are plentiful. We stroll while sipping our drinks (it’s “legal” here) and enjoy our architectural treasures in the afternoon, meet friends or chase fabulous #music at the many venues and festivals around the city. And most of it, if not all can be done walking!
We are owners and managers of our property. We like to personally greet our visitors if possible. We are attentive to all of our guests needs and inquiries but understand that we are not part of the planned vacation. We are available if needed.
Matilde Alberny purchased this cottage in 2002
In the Lower Garden District we found the perfect mélange of village, rural laissez faire and city life and entertainment. A walk in the afternoon by Magazine Street or hearing the fountain of the Coliseum Square at night is enough to fall in love over and over again. We are in the middle of the city, in our own little gorgeous oasis
Enjoying the peace of this cottage is a luxury. Being in the middle to all #NewOrleans is unique.
Matilde and Gustavo were wonderful hosts...and so were their cats. The courtyard is great for lounging and it’s quieter than being in The Quarter...yet, just a short Uber or trolly rides away
We booked a trip to NOLA and selected an apartment to stay in that is owned by the same people as this one. When our flight dates changed and I asked if we could extend our visit Matilde said it was already rented but she offered this cottage for our first two nights. She was so very sweet and very accommodating to us, which we really appreciated.
The cottage is behind Matilde and Gustavo's home. It's quiet, beautifully decorated, and has every amenity that we could think of. Matilde and Gustavo were so welcoming when we arrived. They gave us numerous suggestions on where to eat, places to see, etc. This location is awesome, with so many things to do within walking distance. The true charm of NOLA is here. We enjoyed strolling down the streets and looking at all of the architecture.
After our second night Gustavo moved our luggage to the apartment for us, which was so thoughtful. We didn't have a car and didn't know what to do with our luggage during the day. We didn't need to worry about that!
Matilde and Gustavo are gracious hosts and we look forward to coming back to stay here again!
Lovely location, nice house
Went to NOLA for my husband's birthday, looking for a relaxing weekend. Just steps from Magazine Street where you can find a wide variety of shops and restaurants within easy walking distance. St Charles Street trolley is a few blocks away, and an Uber to the French Quarter was just under $7. Quiet, safe neighborhood. The studio apartment is in the back yard, and is surrounded with lush greenery and patio seating, perfect for morning coffee or evening cocktails. Owners were very friendly and welcoming, but not obtrusive. Found parking close but most spaces were full during our stay. Will definitely try to stay here on our next trip.
We loved staying at Matilde's guest house. We stayed for 5 nights in May. The accomodations were very comfortable and private. Matilde and Gustavo were wonderful hosts. We did mot see much of them but definitely felt we could contact them with any questions. We would definitely stay again.
Property is clean, bedding is extremely comfortable-
A hint of mildew smell on the couch
This exquisitely elegant and comfortable cottage is nestled in a beautifully landscaped courtyard with fruit trees, scented trees, and flowers and sculptures by local metal artists. Have your morning coffee seated in one of the several sitting and leisure areas throughout, while enjoying this extraordinaire courtyard or lay in the hammock in the lazy afternoon, under the palm tree before heading back to the active city.
At the heart of New Orleans lies this gated home, a refuge nestled in the vibrant Lower Garden District. Located across from the magnificent Coliseum Square Park and intimately connected to everything... the mansions and gardens of the Lower and Garden District, the Arts and Warehouse District with all the museums, art galleries and finest restaurants, the adorned tree-lined boulevard of St. Charles and it's famous Streetcar.
Shopping at Magazine Streets, antique shops, art galleries, bespoke clothiers, artisan jewelers, potters, coffee shops and fine eateries is just blocks away.
Second Line Studios is at walking distance.
The French Quarter and shopping of Royal, Riverwalk and Canal Place, the Convention Center and the Port of New Orleans are within a mile, all walk-able.
