A beautiful place....

  • 5 of 5

A really magical place, full of history and charm. The owners were so warm and genuine. We couldn't have asked for a better experience for our family. We will cherish our time at the old school house for years to come.

Perfect secluded house

  • 5 of 5

My family (two adults, two kids age 7 and 9) stayed here and it's a lovely house, on the edge of both Ashford Castle grounds and also some open and wild lands. Main sounds are birds, sheep, and a couple chickens. There's one bedroom with a door, and then three smaller beds upstairs in the loft. There's also a bathroom upstairs, so the loft area is pretty big.

Plus it's exciting to drive through the Ashford Castle gate and cross the bridge to get onto the property. It's a 10 minute walk to the castle and then another 10 to the village of Cong.

We loved our time here!

Histoical but modern

  • 5 of 5

After traveling for a few weeks, we were ready to relax a bit. This was our second stay and we enjoyed it as much as our first! Frank and Kirsti are wonderful hosts. They were very helpful, but also let us enjoy our time. The home is very clean and modern without losing its historical charm. Also, it is very cosy and comfortable and very easy to cook a dinner with a nice kitchen. The village of Cong is very quaint with good food and very friendly people. We hope to be back in another few years. Thank you for having us, we appreciate your hospitality! The McCoy's

The Ashford Old School House

  • 5 of 5

We stayed here for a week and absolutely loved it. The cottage is so warm and cozy and everything you need is provided by the Costello's. It is central to all the places we wanted to visit and of course being on the Ashford Castle grounds was a wonderful bonus. We frequented the village of Cong which is within walking distance and enjoyed the local people so much. Kersti and Frank were available for anything we needed but the cottage was also very private. A wonderful holiday spot we would highly recommend. My husband was able to spend a day fishing with Frank and thoroughly enjoyed being out on beautiful Lake Corrib.

We hope to return

  • 5 of 5

We stayed for just one week and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. It is in a perfect location for hopping up to Sligo or down to Galway. And it is a great neighborhood for walking, as the house sits next to back gate of Ashford Castle, with its extensive grounds. Frank and Kerstie are great. My husband signed up for fishing lessons with Frank and thoroughly enjoyed himself. We hope to go back and do it again !
