We very much enjoyed our stay at this property. The house is beautifully decorated and appointed and has everything you will need to enjoy your stay. We were within walking distance to the downtown area which was great. The house was very comfortable and had everything we needed to enjoy our weekend. As other reviewers have mentioned, the beds are very firm. There is a new couch in the living room that is super comfy. We had a couple of minor questions while we were there and the owner was incredibly fast with his responses, was very nice and very helpful. This would be a great setup for two couples, or small family. We really enjoyed our time here and would definitely stay again!
Lovely Home Against the Bluff
This rental on St Mary's was perfect; Jeff was very easy to work with and super accommodating. The pictures are true and the home was absolutely lovely and clean. The only con I can think of is that wifi was a little spotty, but that wasn't a big deal. The beds were comfortable, the location couldn't be any better, and Dubuque is such a lovely town to explore. It was very chilly while we were visiting, but we still had many adventures and enjoyed out stay. Dubuque also now has Lyft, so we were able to leave the car behind while out for the evenings. I definitely recommend this rental for 2 to 4 adults and plan on staying here again the next time we visit town.
When we arrived we found the house to be very cozy and clean. There was a bit of a smell though that we all noticed. Not sure if it was the basement do to being an old building or if it was the furnace being turned on.
We had plenty of room for the 4 of us and we didn't need for anything in the home.
Our only complaint which I did share with the home owner after our visit was that the both beds were EXTREMELY hard. My husband and I have a firm mattress at home and are used to it, but this was a LOT more firm then ours. The homeowner after I had told him that they were to firm. Thanked us for letting him know, because of course he had never slept on them. He mentioned that he had mattress pads with cushion that he could add to the beds.
Over all our stay in Dubuque was quite pleasant. Thank you for opening your home to us.
Again, thanks for the input. I did add memory foam mattress pads. I also didn’t realize the furnace had issues until the next guest arrived. When they arrived it was only blowing cool air. As of yesterday we now have a brand new furnace (they said the heat exchanger want out).
You walk up the steps to a cute little porch and walk into a homey, nicely decorated, and inviting living room. From there you can see the dining area and the nice stair way leading to the bedrooms and full bath. There is a half bath and kitchen just off the dining area. The kitchen is fully stocked with dishes, pots & pans, a few baking dishes, silverware, spices, etc. If you plan to use the microwave, you will need paper plates because the glass plates there are not microwaveable. Off the kitchen is a beautiful patio area with furniture and a grill. The upstairs is equally as wonderful as the first level. The beds were comfortable. The bedrooms have quite a bit of closet space so if you were there for an extended stay, you would have plenty of room for clothes. The bathroom is nice size. The towels are nice and thick. The entire house was very clean.
This is within walking distance of shops, restaurant/bars, the river, pretty much whatever you want. We felt safe walking during the day and into dusk.
The owner was very accommodating and was quick to answer any emails sent.
I would definitely recommend staying at this location. If I am in the area again, I will definitely stay again.
Great place for a long weekend!
I stayed here with my mom and aunt for a long weekend getaway and it was perfect for us.
It was a wonder place to stay.
It was very clean and had everything that you needed, and very good location. I recommend this townhouse to rent.
