About Page Patterson
My husband Doug and I met in Taos in 1994. I was a potter and he had just graduated from Architecture School in Cincinnati. We built an Earthship, had babies, I began Taos Clay (a community Clay Studio) and Doug joined Living Designs Group Architects. My Daughter and I rode horses together for many years, now both of our children, Emma and Jon Clay, compete on skis in Big Mountain Freeride and Slopestyle Freeride. We all spend a good part of the winter traveling to ski areas around the country and even to Canada this past season. We raft and climb and trail run in the warmer months, and sometimes even in the colder months too.
Page Patterson purchased this Apartment in 2008
Why Page Patterson chose Taos
We bought this property because it is one of the most beautiful downtown historic properties in Taos. A two story, territorial hacienda with a fountain in the courtyard where there was once a community well. Rumor says it was at one time a brothel with tunnels running below it during prohibition. Mixed use: there is a thriving restaurant downstairs and an Architecture office upstairs, creating a property that is used so many hours of each day. Hollyhocks dorn the courtyard throughout the summer and tulips and daffodils line the walkways in the spring.
What makes this Apartment unique
Besdies the excellent location, this place has sweet furnishings! Italian leather furniture, high end rugs, french press, coffee, half and half and a bottle of wine. This is our guest house so why not spend a little more and furnish how I would like our own house to be furnished? So I did: High thread count, 100% cotton linens, king size organic mattress, Ralph Lauren duvet covers and lovely, insulating blinds through which the light gently passes.
A gem in Taos
The place was awesome! Great location near the plaza. It was clean, quiet and comfortable. Everything you need to make a vacation enjoyable the Architect's Space has it. Page kept in touch throughout our stay to make sure we had everything we needed. We loved listening to the church bells near by. Plenty of very comfortable space for all with free parking. We will definitely be back.
So happy you enjoyed it!;-)
Clean, spacious, beautifully designed, decorated and located
The apartment is large, elegant and comfortable. The restaurant below is excellent and there was no noise problem. The location at the edge of the square could not be better.
I took my good knives as usual when I go to a VRBO - and put them back into the car after finding even nicer equipment in the drawers. This is a magic space.
Excellent property; quiet and private; very comfortable
This is a very nice place to stay. It is part of a refurbished historic building, and the interior contains attractive and functional furniture and appliances. Decorations are spare, which is good. An added benefit is its location upstairs from a nice Mexican restaurant; arrangements may be made for dinner to be served in the apartment. We highly recommend this apartment as a place for rest and relaxation.
Great place to stay in Taos near Plaza!
We were here for three weeks in July and had a wonderful time. The apartment/home was perfect for us (4 adults) and the location was a bonus. We loved being so close to the Plaza - within walking distance of great restaurants/bars/pubs, museums, galleries, shops, Saturday Farmer's Market, etc. We were also central to all the different areas for hiking - a great home "base" for discovering the beauty of Taos and area.
Page was a wonderful host and was quick to respond to any communiques. We didn't ask for much but she was willing to assist in any way necessary. The apartment was stocked well and we had all the cooking essentials we needed. The beds were very comfortable and the linens were amazing. We were concerned at first that the restaurant below the apartment would be too noisy but that was not really the case. The restaurant (great food!) closed at 9:00 pm and they were usually out by 10:00 pm. I also thought parking would be an issue but, after being here for 3 weeks, I can say that it was not a problem (the parking permit helped greatly). This close to the Plaza, I can think of no better place to enjoy all that Taos has to offer!
Thanks Page for offering up this special place and for being a great host!
Clean, character, Loved it!
This was a beautiful property that was clean, loved the design and character of the place, and the area. Although it was above a restaurant, it actually made it convenient for a quick bite or drink. Will definitely stay again!
lovely in every way!
what a sweet spot. couldn’t be a better location, super well appointed and very clean. the beds were so comfortable too! Page was very accommodating and helpful with anything we needed.... my only note is about the front wooden gate, which we did not realize was a sliding gate! 😳
thank you for everything!
Fabulous downtown apartment, walk to restaurants in the eve and stroll historic downtown. Taos Ski Valley is 20 minutes and Rafting the Rio Grande is 20 minutes away too. Two yoga studios are within walking distance of apartment, or take a photo tour with local photographer. Visit the Taos Pueblo, just 10 minutes away.
