About Rob Holt
We live in Utah. My wife and I love to travel. We have 6 kids and 6 grandkids.
Rob Holt purchased this Castle in 2010
Why Rob Holt chose Hope
I have always loved castles, when I saw this property and all of the beauty that surrounded, we wanted to own it and share it with our family and friends. Our family has fallen in love with the region. Lake Pend Orielle is one of our favorite places to visit, to watch, to boat on, and enjoy.
What makes this Castle unique
Staying at the castle is a unique experience. How many times have you stayed in a castle? The beauty that you can enjoy from the castle is outstanding. One of our favorite things is sitting on the patio for breakfast, lunch, dinner, or in the evening and just watching and enjoying this amazing lake. The sunsets are spectacular. The last two years we have started up a little fire on the fire pit and roasted marshmallows or cooked hot dogs. We have watched lighting storms and enjoyed seeing all of the stars. We love to visit the castle. All of our friends that have gone up with us, have just loved it. The Sandpoint area is great, Coeur d'Alene is about an hour drive away. Things that we have enjoyed in the area include: boating Lake Pend Oreielle, Main Beach at Sandpoint, The ski resort, traveling to Coeur d'Alene. Hiking, biking, golfing. Everything is relatively close by. Staying at the castle is just a special experience. The castle is constantly being upgraded and improved since we bought it as well.

Beautiful views ....memorable time.. needs some updating but all in all a great time
Glenn was wonderful and easy to work with
Great Views, but not much else
To say this property needs updates is an understatement. I absolutely loved the views, except inside the residence. It is very clear that they are just earning some money until some person purchases the house and can sink some money into updating it. It needs some foundation work, along with new windows, there has been water damage, there is little to no upkeep on the property as several stones have fallen in place and are left sitting around. It needs a deep clean (or even something to just get rid of the cobwebs and bugs in corners *especially with a non-refundable cleaning deposit, which was way overpriced since we had to clean up after ourselves once our stay was done) and a pest control treatment to get rid of the bees that have nests all over the outside. Some landscaping cleanup would be nice, even to just cut down the weeds or pull the weeds in the cracks of the patio.
The setup is rather different, there is only a single half bath on the main floor and two masters with bathrooms with the main one having another half bath and then a full on suite bathroom that is hooked up to a side "bedroom". The tower room is up a twisty metal stair with only a half bath up there. Then there is another bedroom off the side wing and other master bedroom with a full bath. It's hard to describe the flow of the house other than it has moments of past coolness (a fountain inside that doesn't work, a cool rock sink, a grand staircase, chandeliers), but is just very disappointing because they are not maintained.
As I mentioned, the views were the best and it was nice to get up every morning and have coffee outside, but past that it was very sad how they have let it go.
A group of ten of us all met at the castle from our various cities and had a great time. The view was spectacular, Glenn was helpful with information and local recommendations, it was peaceful and we found neighbors along the road to be quite friendly. The house was tidy but well loved. Furniture, kitchen supplies etc were a bit eclectic and we might bring some extra kitchen supplies with us next time. But it met basic needs! We had some issues come up during our trip, and Glenn was very quick to come to the house and work to resolve the problem. We all had a relaxing time at the castle.
Glen met us for check in. He showed us around and made sure our questions were answered. I co texted once during our stay and he answered promptly. Our family absolutely enjoyed our stay. The stove did not work the best but everything else was great. We loved the outdoor patio and the view the best. There was lots of room for the kids to play and have fun..
The castle was a fun extended weekend for our family. It has beautiful views!! The Property Manager was extremely helpful. The castle itself definitely needs some updates but the location is remote and peaceful.
Fabulous place to host a small event with friends and family!
