About Salle McDaniel
I love to travel for adventure and to keep up with my three adult children and their children. I have two children at home and I love being a Mom. I adore older buildings and the process of renovation and making a homey comfortable nest for fellow travelers.

Why Salle McDaniel chose Powderhorn
A gorgeous brick brownstone with handsome old bones and quality craftsmenship. I was smitten. I love the corner location, the yard, the parking area and the large garages.

Cute apartment. We felt safe even though the neighborhood is not the best. We had what we needed.
There were a few steps, but not overwhelming in number. The place was very clean; lots of windows and natural light. The heat was regulated well with radiators; that can be difficult. The shower is an old fashioned, claw-footed bathtub. For older folks or those unsteady on their feet, it could be dangerous; there is not much to hold on to. The bathtub needs to be resurfaced in the middle. It is cracked and peeling, you wouldn’t want to take a bath in it, but a shower is fine. Water pressure is good and plenty of hot water. We would take air mattresses to go on top of the mattresses next time. They are very thin, hard and very low to the ground. Older folks would have trouble getting in and out of the beds. The owner left us coffee and filters which we appreciated. We would stay there again. It worked out well for us with our two dogs.
Overpriced
This apartment is very cute, but the neighborhood was sketchier than I expected. Also, we saw a mouse in this unit on our last night, which was disappointing considering the rate.
She kept our entire security deposit
The apartment was fine and as pictured. We saw the owner/manager twice: once when she parked her car directly in front of our parking spot, blocking us in, and once when she had to come into the apartment to bleed the radiators after the heat had been off for a few days. After we checked out, we received a note saying she would be keeping our entire security deposit. She claimed that the upholstery needed to be cleaned (though provided no evidence when asked) and that a kitchen cabinet had water damage and needed to be replaced (though, again, provided nothing by way of documentation of this alleged damage). She was aware that we were staying here temporarily until we could move into our new home in the area; I can only assume she saw this as an opportunity to make some extra money without fear of losing potential repeat customers. Extremely disappointed.
Perfect
We were visiting our UMN student and wanted to spend time together, while also getting things done and this apartment accommodated us perfectly. Our host was very helpful and accommodating. Notes and instructions left within the apartment were very helpful. Plus, we had a special request and the host was very willing to help us out. Very clean, well-furnished and equipped and we felt safe walking and exploring. The location was also perfect. We needed to be near UMN, shopping, MSP and some of our favorite Minneapolis spots and this was central to everything we needed. A bonus was the immediate neighborhood, we enjoyed walking to the park (Powderhorn Park is beautiful), and nearby MayDay coffee shop had great coffee and amazing baked items. The only downside was needing more time to explore and enjoy Minneapolis. And a slight downside was being near a fairly busy street on one side -- there was some noise from traffic, but it's a city location and that's to be expected. We slept well and were able to enjoy cooking meals and having family time together. It was also convenient to be able to use the coin operated laundry within the building. We would definitely stay here again and would highly recommend staying here.
Comfortable, Convenient and Walkable
This is our second time staying at this apartment building . It's clean, and comfortable, with modern furnishings. We especially like it, because we can walk to so many places: the Minnesota Institute of Arts, the Global Market, the American Swedish Institute, to name just a few. We also visited many of the Hispanic grocery stores, the farmer's market and Ingebretsons, a Scandinavian store nearby. In addition, the owner is friendly, professional and responsive . We certainly enjoyed our stay.
exactly what we expected
Four adults and two small children. We had a wonderful stay! It was nice being away from home but with all of the comfort of home. Drastically reduced the cost of our trip (hotel and food costs). Conveniently located and the park is only a few blocks away.
