About The Owner

We moved to the mountains from the South Carolina coast in 1998. While I've been a financial advisor for over 30 years, our move allowed Jeannie to pursue a dream of opening a small business... The Jeweler's Workbench... in downtown Waynesville. After a successful 10 year run, she sold her gallery and is now enjoying the 'retirement lifestyle.'

When purchasing our residence several years ago, we discovered that we had a 'hidden gem' located at the back of our property ... a small cottage in total disrepair... awaiting a facelift. After several years of constant attention, The Cottage has now been transformed into a charming getaway for all to enjoy.

The Owner purchased this cottage in 2005

Why The Owner chose Waynesville

We started vacationing in the area in the early nineties and immediately fell in love with the mountains, the people and the opportunities for a better quality of life. We finally decided it would be less costly to simply move to the Waynesville area... considering we were vacationing in the area 3 to 4 times a year!

What makes this cottage unique

While The Cottage has maintained its classic style and appeal, the property offers guests all of the modern conveniences and comforts of home.

Guestbook comments from the owner

We enjoyed our stay at The Cottage, with all the little touches…wine, fruit and Sadie especially like her water and food dishes a greatly appreciated the doggie treats.

The distance from the cottage to the town was another plus! We hope to make it back and would love to stay at The Cottage again. Thanks so Much :-)

Delightful stay at ‘The Cottage’

  • 5 of 5

What a delightful stay at The Cottage! From Tom’s greeting with a chilled bottle of wine to the cozy peaceful cottage amenities, we very much enjoyed our stay. Within a short walk to downtown, this cottage has everything you need for a quiet visit to Waynesville. The garden out the back door added an extra shady spot to relax at breakfast and dinner. Tom and Jeannie have done a wonderful job restoring this 100 year old cottage, from the gorgeous hard wood floors to the big windows allowing plenty of afternoon sun. So close to walk to many restaurants on Main Street, or an evening at the Wine Seller with live music and wonderful desserts, we took advantage of leaving the car at home! Perfect for a couple looking to get away and enjoying a relaxing visit to the town of Waynesville! Thank you Tom and Jeannie!

The cottage was thoroughly quaint, homey, clean and stocked with everything you could ever need. The little courtyard in the back was especially lovely. Tom and Jeanne were great, a choice of good restaurants were within walking distance... it was just perfect. It will be our first choice when visiting our son in Asheville from now on!

Hospitality at it's finest

  • 5 of 5

Tom and Jeannie have created the perfect getaway in The Cottage. We have stayed here multiple times and every time we leave, we look forward to the next time.

From the moment we walk in the door and see lovely treats that await us, to the personal good-bye from Tom, we could not ask for a better place. The Cottage is a very short walk to all of the shopping and dining attractions In Waynesville. You are just a couple of blocks away from that hustle and bustle, but the quiet and quaint location makes it seem like you are in your own little "pocket" of Waynesville. We also love that our dog, Darby, is welcome, and for a pet friendly cottage, they have spared no expense or detail for pets and their human owners alike!

We cannot wait to return!

Perfect location

  • 5 of 5

We have stayed at The Cottage several times and it is always our first choice in Waynesville. As usual, the unit is spotlessly clean and has every thing you could need for a relaxing, comfortable stay in this lovely town. The kitchen is very well supplied, the furniture is comfortable and well thought out and plenty of linens are supplied.

This was our first winter stay and I had a slight concern about the heat being adequate. I had no reason to worry. During our stay the weather was unseasonably cold even for winter and the Cottage stayed warm and cozy.

The location can’t be beat. It’s an easy two block walk to town and Waynesville is right where you want to be in western North Carolina.

The Tracys are so hospitable and welcoming, you can tell they really enjoy hosting guests and do everything possible to make you feel welcome and at home.

Quaint and comfortable

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I spent three nights at The Cottage. Attention to detail is obvious - high quality sheets and towels, a full kitchen with everything you need to prepare a meal, and a wide range of books in case you forgot your own.

Tom, the owner met us and showed us around and then left us to explore the downtown area. The Cottage is literally just off Main Street so it was a short walk to the shops and restaurants.

The weather was extremely cold when we there around New Years, but we stayed toasty warm as there are three separate heaters. When we return to Waynesville, we definitely plan to stay at The Cottage again.
