Located in the Heart of Charleston's Historic District, Southern Comfort is docked at the Charleston City Marina and less than 50 feet from our gated parking lot.
We are 3 blocks from the Historic Battery just past the Coast Guard Station, and six "city blocks" from Meeting Street and the Market Area.
From the magnificent architectural homes of the Battery, and the finest restaurants in the south, to the art and antique shops, Charleston is a place unlike any other.
The Crew of Southern Comfort has been getting ready for your arrival. We love sharing our boats and our life on the water, but best of all we love saying welcome to Charleston.
Chris and Ellie McIntire purchased this boat in 2004

We had a wonderful weekend aboard The Southern Comfort. The entire process from booking to boarding was a breeze. They were wonderfully responsive and helpful with any questions and assistance during our stay. The accommodations are lovely and the extra's niceties made the weekend stay even better. Everything you need is well documented in the on-board book. For us, it felt like home and we treated it as such for the weekend. It's a good walk into town or easy get a very reasonable Uber and there is paid parking at the marina. Highly recommend and look forward to returning to stay aboard!
We had a great time aboard The Southern Comfort. The yacht is beautiful and very spacious. The process from booking to arrival and departure was easy. We would definitely stay here again.
We had friends that stayed aboard Southern Comfort during the summer and wanted to visit Charleston for sometime. We were surprised to find that New Years Eve was open and tried to book right away.
The owners were in the Bahamas at the time so the delay in response time worried us at first but they assured Southern Comfort's crew would have everything ready for our arrival.
We got to Charleston early on Friday and decided to just stop by the boat. On the dock we saw a girl with a Southern Comfort shirt and introduced ourselves. She was so very sweet and told us we could go ahead and check-in even though it was well before noon.
The boat is massive and it's easy to forget it's a boat. The flowers and wine were a nice touch but nothing can top watching the sunrise from the pilot house with a cup of coffee.
Charleston is awesome in the off season no crowds great restaurants with no waiting but 3 days was not enough. There is so much to see and do. Soco as the crew calls her was the perfect escape! We'll be back!
A group of friends & I were so excited to celebrate a special birthday & thought the unique experience of staying on a yacht in Charleston would be amazing. We should have known from the beginning not to book this trip after we initially started our trip search two months in advance & it took three weeks to even get it reserved. We first communicated with Captain Chris McIntire via phone & it seemed all well & good. He talks a good game, but our experience with McIntire and his mysterious assistant, Angela, was in no way good. We had to go back in forth for weeks just trying to make a reservation. We should have taken this as a sign to “jump ship”, but we unfortunately did not! Each time we corresponded there was confusion on their part as to the details of our trip, we were told it may have been booked by another party, had to wait days to hear back each time we corresponded, had to ask multiple times for an invoice to reserve our dates, were told incorrect dates were reserved, on & on. That headache experience is only the beginning! We arrived not knowing where to even go to find the boat once we got there, as there was no check in instructions. Once we did find the boat and cautiously board not knowing if we were even entering the correct boat other than going by the name, we were taken aback due to the extreme August heat aboard. We texted with McIntire to let him know how hot it was (especially in the front of the boat) & were told the boat had been taken out and the crew didn’t turn the AC back on. He also told us just to open the door. Never did McIntire come himself or send any “crew” member to meet us or check on the AC issue. We spent three days/nights with half of the boat never cooling. Some of our party ended up sleeping in the main salon. Sounds “comfortable”, right? It is not. We were very careful to read the instructions when staying aboard and kept everything clean & well taken care of up until we departed, especially after reading that we may be “aggressively charged” if we did not. Once home we received a text with a picture from who knows when of some wet carpet aboard the boat and were asked if we moved furniture on top of an air vent. No, we did not. It has been 8 weeks & no return, or reason for no return of our deposit. Each time we have texted or emailed we have been promised our deposit returns & given multiple lame excuses as to why it has not been returned. Just save yourself time, energy and happiness and do not stay here!!!
We booked the Sea Deas (previously the Superior Lady) a year in advance for our daughter's College of Charleston graduation. We never book anything that far in advance but we knew Charleston would be crazy this weekend with several graduations and mothers day weekend. We decided on the Sea Deas vs a house or hotel because we thought it would be different. It was the best decision we ever made! The boat is beautiful and spacious. It had everything we could have needed and staying here really made her graduation weekend even more memorable. Thanks to Chris and Chris (manager and owner) for such great hospitality. We would recommend staying here to anyone who is coming to Charleston.
I had booked Southern Comfort last year for four ladies travelling to the Charleston Garden Tour. Unfortunately, there was a mix-up in the booking and the boat was unavailable for us. Chris tried to find a replacement yacht but there were none available. We ended up having to stay in a hotel and for only one night rather than the two we had planned. Chris was very upset about the “goof-up” so told me that I could book another two nights without charge!
I took my husband this last weekend and we stayed on Southern Comfort. It was a very pleasurable experience for the two of us. We stayed in the Owner’s Salon which was very spacious and yet cozy. The king size bed was very comfortable. We did not cook, but went to several different restaurants for breakfast, happy hour and dinner. Chris has two bikes for you to use but we had brought our own so didn’t use his. One nice feature of the Marina is that there is a complementary shuttle to downtown so you can get a ride in. If you don’t stay out late they will pick you up, but most people get a taxi back.
All in all a very relaxing and enjoyable experience!
