Junior 1 Bedroom Apt / Sleeps 3

Newly renovated, junior 1 bedroom English basement apartment, with 4 full-size windows, offers plenty of natural light. Sleeps 3 adults with a queen bed and twin sofa bed. You'll have a comfortable night's sleep with 500 thread count sheets and tempurpedic pillows. The queen mattress is from Savvy Rest and is made of organic natural latex foam. The full bathroom has a bathtub and shower. There is a washer and dryer in the unit. The full-size kitchen appliances include a refrigerator, stove, oven, dishwasher, microwave, coffee maker, toaster and iron. The kitchen has granite countertops and is fully furnished with plates, glasses, cookware, utensils, etc. The apartment has all the conveniences of home. For travelers with small children, a highchair and Pack n' Play are available upon request.

The apartment is located just north of downtown, near 2 yellow/green line metro stops—just 3 blocks from Howard University/Shaw metro stop and 3 blocks from the Mt Vernon/Convention Center metro stop. Reagan National Airport is also located on the yellow line, so the commute from the airport is very easy. Washington DC is a very walkable city with good public transportation. You won't need a car while you are here. If you are traveling with a car, there is plenty of street parking available. Street parking is locally zoned, but we will arrange for you to have a parking pass for a $25 fee.

We are walking distance to vibrant nightlife, like the U street corridor, Logan Circle and Chinatown/Gallery Place. Only 3 metro stops to the National Mall and all of the historic monuments. Lots of restaurants within walking distances. 

For extended stays, we will have the apartment cleaned weekly for an additional $50. Nightly rate does not include the Washington DC lodging tax of 14.5%.

We live upstairs and are happy to answer any questions or make recommendations. The apartment has a separate alley entrance, and you will have complete privacy.

We moved to DC together in 2005, the year we were married. It was going to be a short-term stay, and here we are 12 years later. We absolutely love our city.

The nice thing about the English basement apartment is that it's only a couple steps below ground. So it really feels more like a first-floor space. The ceilings are high. And the four tall windows let in plenty of natural light.

What makes this apartment unique

Our neighborhood, Shaw, is also called Old City. It has a great neighborhood vibe. Subway stops are convenient. But if you like to walk, it's a beautiful city to see on foot.

Covenient- clean and well stocked

I stayed in this property while attending a conference at the Convention Center. It is a short walk. There is a very nice, large grocery store nearby. It is perfect for 1 or 2 people.

PERFECT LOCATION

We were very happy with the location, close to train, grocery store. Was able to maneuver the city very well by walking. Gregg was amazingly helpful and was nice to have him right above us in case of emergency

Cozy apartment, great neighborhood

It was a pleasure to work with Greg and stay in his apartment. He was very accommodating with our arrival and departure time needs, and he had an easy system for accessing keys and everything we needed to get in and out. The apartment was nice, clean, well-stocked with essentials, and suited our needs very well. And we loved the neighborhood. Very fashionable and eclectic with lots of great restaurants and bars nearby. The metro was only a few blocks away and very convenient from the airport. Plus the neighborhood was not far from attractions. It was an easy walk to the mall and several museums.

Highly recommend!!!

We loved our time at this apartment!! It was close to everything we wanted to do!! We walked everywhere practically!! But we had access to the metro, bikes, and cabs whenever we wanted. The apartment was clean, we had all we needed-our hosts went above the call of duty to make sure our time in their space was enjoyable! They offered to give advice and answer questions, they were ready & willing to help! There's a grocery store very nearby, so getting food or anything you may have forgotten was simple! Restaurants surround the place and our hosts provided a detailed guide stating what each place offered. We did not have a car, so we cannot speak to the parking situation. Above all, we felt safe. Our stay in this apartment contributed to the sweet, wonderful time we had in DC. We highly recommend this listing!!! The hosts are warm and welcoming, the space is small and sweet with quality furnishings, and the location is ideal especially if you desire to experience DC by foot!!
