About Becky

Both Jim and I grew up in the Chicago area and live in the City now.

My husband Jim has been traveling to the North Shore since he was boy and has great memories of his family vacations there.

My first trip to the North Shore was just after we were married 15 years ago. I fell in love with area immediately and never wanted our vacations to come to an end.

Becky purchased this house in 2012

Why Becky chose Minnesota

We have been looking for the perfect house and piece of property ever since our first trip up together. Finally our dream came true this past year.

Growing up in, and living in Chicago now, we love the fact, that when at Twin Cedars we can't see our neighbors. That was very important to us.

We try to get to Twin Cedars every chance we get but in the mean time want to share this beautiful piece of the North Shore with you.

What makes this house unique

I remember vividly my first glimpse of Lake Superior right from the driveway. As I walked down the gentle sloping path into the yard for the first time, I saw a cute little footbridge crossing over a seasonal creek. Not only did I have a beautiful, walkable, ledge rock shore stretching out in front of me but a babbling brook as well.

As I strolled up the small creek bed lined with stones and wild roses I realized we had a small Springtime waterfall located just off the deck. This is one of my husbands favorite things to enjoy while grilling.

Inside the house is all 'Knotty pine' that gives you that true 'Up North' feeling.

This is a 1960's custom built house with lots of fun interesting features. With the updated track lighting you can either do some fine needle work and reading or have a cozy family movie night.

Both the Family room and A-Frame have fantastic views of the lake. Just off the A-Fame are a few bird feeders rigged to attract a variety of species and with windows all around being from floor to ceiling the bird watching can be exceptional. It sometimes feels like you are in your own tree house.

The Family room has a huge picture window that looks out over the deck and Lake Superior. You can see all the way to the Horizon here.

Magical Lake Superior Get Away

  • 5 of 5

Twin Cedars, Except One is a Spruce had all the charm of the north woods and magic of Lake Superior. The house was comfortable with a stocked kitchen, wonderful dining area and comfy living room. The views of the lake and unique yard were seen from the huge windows. The pictures listed on VRBO don't do the property justice. Becky has homey touches everywhere plus books, movies, games and how to find the local radio station. The shoreline and yard was perfect for exploring or just having a seat and taking in the beauty and many moods of Lake Superior. It fit our family of 5 plus our fur baby (dog) very comfortably. We liked the location of Lutsen as it was close to several state parks and Grand Marias was only 15-20 minutes away. We can't wait until we can return someday. A big thank you to Becky and Jim!

Absolutely amazing!! Stunning views!!

  • 5 of 5

Everything was neat as a pin. You could feel how thoughtful and generous the owners where in making sure you feel welcome during your stay. As animal lovers that travel with our doggo's it was mind blowing to see treats and blankets set out for them talk about pet friendly!! If you are looking for the best place between Lutsen and Grand Marais this is it.

Just what I dreamed

  • 5 of 5

I love Twin Pines. The interior is charming and very welcoming - even for our puggle! I appreciated all the special touches and variety in the library of books, movies and games. The landscaping is heavenly, mysterious and well cared for. I really enjoyed the sound of small waterfalls and the trails that led to hidden spots to sit and view the lake. There is a always a place to sit in the sun if the sun is shining. We enjoyed sitting by the campfire with five and watching the moon rise over the lake. We visited and hiked many nearby state parks and the great golf course nearby.

Favorite Place to Stay on the North Shore

  • 5 of 5

This was our third time staying at Becky and Jim's cabin and it is by far our favorite place to stay on the North Shore. The biggest bonus is that we're able to bring our two pups with. Everything is very clean and comfortable and it's well stocked with anything you might need. They do a great job of making the property usable but yet still untouched. We will definitely continue to come back for as long as they continue to make it available to rent!

Beautiful and Homey!

  • 5 of 5

Wonderful home with all the amenities you would need. Enjoyed sitting on the deck listening to the water fall. So enjoyed the birds at the feeders and a cute little squirrel or two. Good location to take in Scenic 61 and all the sites to visit.

In addition to fantastic scenery and bird watching right off the deck, there are miles of diverse hiking and biking trails that in the winter turn to cross country ski and snow mobile trails.

Just a 5 minute drive from the house is a beautiful water fall down an easy 300 foot path. Or you can choose from many other paths at the same location and take a moderate to more challenging hike and be gone for as long as you want. Many of the Superior Hiking Trail 'heads' are just a stones throw away.

For Downhill Skiers, we are just 2 miles from Beautiful Lutsen Mountain with beginner to Olympic style runs and for Golfers, Superior National Golf Course is 5 minutes away and offers exceptional views as you make your way from Tee to Tee.
