About Sherry Rasmussen
We have been involved the ARTs in Bar Harbor since the early 1970’s and participate in local ART events such as First Friday ART walks. Ivan, who was once Bar Harbor Harbormaster, has spent most of his life near the ocean first in his native Oregon and now on Mount Desert Island, home to Bar Harbor and Acadia National Park. Sherry traveled extensively as an international flight attendant.Though her travels took her to many beautiful destinations, she says that Mount Desert Island is truly one of the world's treasures. The beauty of the island is what drew us to Bar Harbor. The magic of the island will captivate you as well. Ivan captures the beauty of the Acadia in his watercolors that he sells in his own 'ART on West' and other galleries. Bar Harbor is one of Maine's most walkable communities so we live right in the downtown nfor the convenience of walking to movies, theater, dining, boating, shopping and more. Like us, our visitors walk or bike into Acadia National Park. A free bus runs from mid-June to mid-October from the Village of Bar Harbor into Acadia National Park and to neighboring Villages. We are often asked if Bar Harbor is near Acadia National Park. Our downtown is surrounded by Acadia National Park and the nearby Bar Island is just a short walk from your suite. Did you know that the 'bar' to Bar Island is the reason for the name of Bar Harbor? You can see Bar Island from your suite. It is one of several islands of Acadia and the only one that is walkable from Bar Harbor! We love to share our community and island with visitors from around the world. You check in for your week at our 'ART on West Gallery'. We are there to get you started on a perfect vacation.

The property is very nice and in the perfect location. We especially enjoyed being able to walk to dinner after a day in Acadia. Sherry and Ivan are perfect hosts.
Couldn’t ask for anything better
Where do I start. The balcony with the view of the harbor. The location close to everything but yet just right so you don’t get the noise. Your own parking spot. Able to walk to dinner, grocery, tour boats.
The accommodations were just right. Very, very clean. Comfee bed. Full size refrig. Perfect sized bathroom. Just a nice spacious unit.
And the hosts were perfect. Very helpful and informative. Made themselves available but never intrusive.
If someone were to ask me where to stay I would say here!
Rental at Bar Harbor
The property was perfect and well kept. The hosts were very helpful with suggestions and websites to the area. They were very personable and attentive. I would highly recommend this property.
Amazing Water View from deck
We really enjoyed our stay at the Alone Moose. The apt is clean and well equipped with everything you could need. Sherry and Ivan our hosts could not have been more helpful and pleasant, suggesting places to see while in the area and restaurants to try. Art galleries to see.
Sitting on the deck people watching after a day of out and about was great. What a wonderful vacation! Thank you Sherry and Ivan.
Terrilyn and John 🌞
Terrilyn and John were enthusiastic travelers eager to learn about our island and to explorer Bar Harbor and Acadia.
Ivan was honored that Terrilyn and John picked an original Ivan Rasmussen painting of the nearby Shore Path to take home with them. We hope that they will reflect on our beautiful, historic village while they enjoy their painting. Since they are art enthusiasts we invited them to a yearly Father's Day event where they won a gift certificate—yippee! We look forward to seeing them again when they leave their wonderful resort area to once again visit ours!
