Great vacation home with excellent location

  • 5 of 5

Our family needed 5 bedrooms and this home is perfect! It comes with passes to a private (residents only) beach on Elkhart lake and is a very short walk from the home. The house is very clean and fresh. We loved the screen porch and watching all the vacationers going by. Making s'mores around the backyard fire pit was loads of fun! The home is walking distance to everything in Elkhart lake. We rent pontoons, paddle boards. The owner is a gem to work with. We'll be back making family memories!

Great place

  • 5 of 5

Very clean and spacious house. We were in Elkhart for a long weekend at a family wedding. 10 of us were in the house....3 family's that included four grandkids. Plenty of room and the location was great...5 minute walk to a wonderful public beach, walking distance to restaurants and the wedding we attended. William was very accommodating to our family needs. Loved the screened porch! We'll be back!

Wonderful house in downtown Elkhart

  • 5 of 5

Out the door turn right & your just down the street from Paddock Club and Lake Street Café, turn left and there's just one house between you and the historic Siebkens Stop-Inn Tavern. The evenings would end recapping the day's festivities in the front sitting room or out back around the fire pit which, while right in downtown, feels like you are miles away.

Home away from home feel!

  • 5 of 5

Burdie's Nest was more than we could ever ask for. As the multiple reviews have already stated, the very best part of the house is the location!, location!, location! What a great spot with a 5 minute walk to the lake, to Otto's restaurant at the Osthoff where we dined multiple times and then a 5 minute walk the other way to town with all the other restaurants,

However, in addition to the location, the house itself was very clean, and very roomy. The bedrooms were all great as well as the kitchen, the living room and the front screened in patio where we spent most early mornings. We also spent most nights outside around the fire pit which was truly enjoyable.

There is no question that we would go back and stay here again!

Disappointed

  • 2 of 5

The property is in the heart of town. The location is noisy and lacks parking. The description said it was near a lake. The lake is several blocks away. It is not on the property. I rented the whole house for my family to stay. We had a wedding in the area. The owner was made aware of problems with the door locks. None of the televisions worked in the house. The owner was sarcastic with me when I called him about that. There was a fire pit pictured but no wood. Had I known I would have brought some. The place was clean but I was disappointed with the lack of details provided about the property. It was not what we expected. I have rented several vacation homes and this was not one of my better experiences.

Owner's Response: We were on the phone with this young lady three times the evening of her check in. She could not operate the lockbox, could not open the patio door and could not turn the TV on, so we talked her through that. Parking is 3-4 cars in the driveway and overnight parking on the street. Firewood was located adjacent to the back deck. Location is clear in the first line of the description 'Downtown Elkhart, Freshly Remodeled, Walk To Lake" and further identified as 100 yards from the lake. Not sure what we could have done differently to please this guest. We are very disappointed in this rating since we strive to accommodate and assist all guests.

Great house

  • 5 of 5

This was a great house for all 9 of us. It was very clean. The location in the heart of Elkhart Lake was a real plus, very close to the Resident Beach. Loved the front porch room for people watching and the s'mores at the fire pit in the backyard. The owner is very attentive to his guests and we look forward to returning here. Elkhart lake is the perfect setting for a great family vacation and this house was perfect for us!
