Overview

About the property

4 King Bedrooms, 3 Full Baths, screened porch, magnificent views, bear sitings

Tree Tops Too is a 6 year old chalet, designed by the Owner-Architect and decorated by the Owner-Interior Designer especially for their families. The home is built around a 40 year old stone fireplace. All of the stones were gathered by the owners from the mountain when Chalet Village was first installing roads. The Great Room features hand-made, specially designed trusses in the two story ceiling. We created this new luxurious haven as gathering place for friends and families.

The screened porch is our favorite feature where we talk and laugh, read, dine or simply look at the magnificent view across the mountain tops to Sevierville. From an elevation of 2965 feet, the view at night is especially breath taking as it reaches almost to I-40 on the other side of Sevierville and Douglas Lake. After you prepare your meals in the fully equipped kitchen, enjoy the view of Gatlinburg at night or Cosby in the daytime at our harvest table for 8.

Our 4 bedrooms contain high quality King Size mattresses and luxury linens. The two bedrooms on the second floor share a four piece bath which features a separate toilet room and glass vessel sink. They open onto the balcony with a sitting area, desk for computer work and a TV with an XBox 360, the perfect set-up for families with children. Downstairs on the main floor, each of the two bedrooms have private 3-piece baths and the same quality King Size beds. While our home is not handicapped accessible, the main floor is handicapped friendly with no carpeting, wide doorways and a step-in shower with a built-in bench and hand held shower head. The front door is only 4 steps down from the driveway. A wheelchair can easily move around the entire main floor including the porch and front deck, so everyone can be together.

There are parking spaces for two vehicles which are adjacent to and only 4 steps above the front door. An additional two spaces are available at the top of the drive approximately 40 feet from the front door.

Preparing meals in our fully equipped kitchen is so enjoyable because, not only can you glance up to see our wonderful views, but since the kitchen is open to the Great Room, Dining Room, Screened porch and deck, you are always part of the group. You will feel right at home here. Whether you are cooking pizza or Thanksgiving dinner, you will find the equipment you need in our kitchen. Then you have the choice of eating at our Harvest table in the dining room or dining alfresco on the porch.

Viewing the mama bears with their cubs, is especially enjoyable from the safety of the front deck or screened porch. Children adore this and will look forward to it in the mornings and around dusk each day.

With the Owner's Club card you not only have access to 3 clubhouses with swimming pools, a children's playground, tennis courts, pool table and foosball, but the card allows you to receive discounts at all the Ripley's attractions, including the Aquarium, and many of the local restaurants. Check out the clubhouse and discounts at https://chaletvillageownersclub.com.

If you are planning a FAMILY REUNION or WEDDING, please check out the beautiful facilities available to you at a reduced price at 2 of the Chalet Village Owner's Clubhouses. About Dale Pool

Our parents built our original chalet in the Smoky Mountains in 1972, and shared it with friends and family for years. Now, my sister, Susan and her husband Bill and my husband, Lynn and I have built a new luxury home that we would like to share with you.

We have a little family poem that best describes the way we feel about our home and we hope you will feel the same way and totally enjoy your stay at Tree Tops Too.

'Nestled in the smoky hills,

Where the mountain folds around,

Stands a little piece of heaven,

Growing from the fertile ground.'

-Dale Pool

Dale Pool purchased this chalet in 2009

Why Dale Pool chose Gatlinburg

We have been coming to the mountains since we were children and could think of no better place to bring our children and grandchildren. Whatever your family enjoys, it can be found in this area. With the added benefit of the amenities of the Chalet Village Owner's clubs and discounts at local attractions and restaurants, there is no limit to the activities available. We are avid fly fishermen so we always head to the National Park to fish and picnic. Tree Tops Too is located about 1/4 mile by foot from the Park boundary and a trailhead to Sugarland Visitor Center below. But if you are looking for something more exciting, Pigeon Forge, a short ride of about 15 miles, offers outlet shopping, Dollywood, numerous restaurants and other attractions.

Year ‘round there is no limit to the activities available to you and your family in the Gatlinburg/Pigeon Forge area. So if you desire roller coasters or simply sitting on the screen porch reading a book, we have what you are looking for.

There is nowhere, in our opinion, that nature is more beautiful. Here you become immersed in it!

What makes this chalet unique

Besides the location, the best features of our home is the screened porch with its views. Our stone fireplace means so much to us because we gathered every single stone used to construct it. We also brought stones from other important places and people in our lives. So it represents our family history.

The house is comfortable and welcoming and has the ability to make you shed your everyday life and stress in a truly amazing way.

And if you want more action than 'porch sitting', the area offers just about anything you desire. The perfect location for a family vacation. From the house you have easy access to the Gatlinburg bypass which allows you to avoid downtown traffic to get to Pigeon Forge or the National Park. During peak periods this can save your valuable time for activities a lot more fun than sitting in traffic!

Guestbook comments from the owner

We would just like to say Thank You for allowing us to stay and enjoy this beautiful and charming cabin! We have really enjoyed ourselves! The unexpected snow gave us quite the surprise, but it was the perfect addition to our experience. The view..just amazing. The cabin is so welcoming and warm. We often referred to it as our "home" and although we had a great time out and about in town, we couldn't wait to get back to the cabin. Many laughs and great memories were made here. We will always remember our mountain adventure and this beautiful cabin. We hate to leave, but we will definitely enjoy the view on the way down. You have helped us cross an item off our bucket list and we will always be grateful. Many Blessings from Mississippi

Beautiful, clean and cozy!

  • 5 of 5

Our family had a great time at Tree Tops Too! The cabin was clean and so cozy! We enjoyed sitting out on the covered porch and watching the wildlife in the evenings! The cabin has everything you need and you feel right at home! Our 7 year old kept saying " this is not your average house, this is a fancy place!" We even got the chance to see multiple bears, they came up right in our yard! We had an amazing time and can't wait to come back! Dale is also so easy to work with, she's very personable and is incredibly responsive! Thanks again for sharing your beautiful home with us!

Owner's Response: We love for our guests to feel like they are at home, though magically transported to the beautiful Smoky Mountains. Jordan, it is always easy for me to work with great guests like you. Thank you for taking care of our home and treating it like you would your own. Please do come back again soon. I'm so glad your 7 year old got to see the bears.

Bears!!

  • 3 of 5

We saw bears the first night that we arrived at the home! It is a beautiful home inside and out. The screened porch is amazing. This was the first time we have been in the mountains and it was an experience we wont forget. The roads leading to the house were ones that I have never been on before. There were some things listed in the description that weren't the case when we got there. The first one was the view. The view in the pictures was not the view that we saw. We barely even saw the downtown lights at night or the mountains in the distance without being obscured by trees. We had to walk up the hill to be able to get a picture of the view. The next thing was that there is not a bedroom that has with a balcony. All the bedrooms were nice and cozy but none of them had any sort of balcony. The towels that were left for us in the bathroom smelled as though they were never washed from the last family that stayed there. We ended up having to wash them out before we could use them. I actually had to use the beach towels that we brought. The bathroom downstairs had mold in lots of the shower. All in all we had a great time and it was a very fun trip.

Owner's Response: Thank you Sara, for the heads up. I’m not sure why you say that some things in the listing you didn’t see when you arrived. The pictures of the views from the porch and dining room/kitchen are plainly seen in pictures #4 and #10 as well as in those locations in the house. We are thankful to have trees around our home, since many homes in the burn area have nothing but bare ground and burned out trees. Views are also dependent on the season. For 6 months out of the year, in addition to the views in the pictures, there is a full face view of Mt LeConte from the whole front side of the house. Your comment about the bedroom not having a balcony as stated is shown in pictures #1 and #17. In fact, there are two bedrooms off of the balcony. I'm not sure where you got the impression that I was describing an outside balcony. I have addressed your other issues with our cleaning person, even though everyone else has found the house to well cleaned. It is regrettable that you felt the need to leave this review. I can only attribute it to the fact that I had to keep a portion of your security deposit because you broke the deadbolt lock on the deck door, even though I had explained both on the phone and in writing in the instructions, how to operate the outside doors.

Great Host, Great Location, Great Cabin

  • 5 of 5

Dale Pool is one of the sweetest people I have had the pleasure to business with on VRBO. The cabin was beautiful, well kept and fully equipped to allow my family a very leisure vacation. The clubhouse swimming pool was fantastic to enjoy with the kids for an easy day of fun. The back porch allowed a great venue for early morning gatherings to plan our days before going to Gatlinburg, the National Park, and Pigeon Forge. All four beds were incredibly comfortable. The great room has an amazing sound system and plasma screen to enjoy movies with the family. We located two Redboxes, one at Walgreens on the strip and one at Food City off of stoplight #3. We did have two bear sightings from the cabin during our stay. One was a little close for comfort while grilling. A momma and two cubs came for supper. My wife and I stayed in the first bedroom to the right. It has an beautiful private bathroom with a wonderful shower. Nice roomy closet. Overall, If you are looking for a nice, clean rental with most of the amenities of home, I would recommend this cabin and its owner time and time again.

Minor things to consider...this cabin is quite a drive on some challenging roads with tight curves and climbs. Please use caution and low gears. Drivers here seem to be very courteous and focused on safety rather than speed. The coffee pot is awesome once you figure it out, LOL. It took my family some time. Bring DVDs or chromecast. The cable channels are very limited and it helps to keep the little ones entertained during food preparation and clean up. During the summer months, the view is quite restricted due to the tree foliage. At night, you can still enjoy the strip, bring binoculars or telescope. I brought binoculars and it was fun for the whole family to look at the downtown area. The patio door locks and handles...take the time to learn how to use them. They are really very easy once you take the time to learn them.

Again, thank you, Dale Poole, for sharing this great property with my family. I hope we get the opportunity to stay here again. I hope my review helps clear any doubts anyone has about renting this great cabin. Rent it and enjoy the beautiful Smokies. Safe travels and God Bless.

Comfortable and beautiful home!

  • 5 of 5

Well equipped, beautiful home! Comfortable beds, beautiful area, screened in porch is incredible! The views are not quite as depicted - pretty much fully obstructed by trees, but plenty of look out points nearby. Plenty of bear encounters, including one walking right into the driveway as we were packing up to leave 😳. Overall a perfect stay!
