A private waterfront getaway on sixteen acres with a five boat pier and a living space of charming decor as if staying on a yacht! Wake up each morning to the smell of coffee and stepping out onto the vast expanse of lawn hugged by soothing water filled with wildlife. You sit in the white Adirondack Chairs with your crossword and Words With Friends (because yes, there's WiFi!). You suddenly realize you need a few more groceries for your grilling tonight, so you hop on your bike and breeze through to the Acme in St. Michaels where all of your needs are met. You stay for lunch and eat in Foxy's, a bohemian Bar & Grill located on a charming marina, and you watch the yachts come in. On your bike ride home, you stop into Chesapeake Landing, and pick up some smoked Blue Fish for your hors d'oeuvres that evening. Once home, pop open your favorite wine ( or boil up some relaxing green tea) and take in the sight of the fish jumping in the cove and then take in the night sky with our telescope.

About Liv Violette
Fun loving, caring mother of two who co-owns a company with her husband and wants to share her favorite vacation spot with like-minded individuals.
Liv Violette purchased this Cottage in 2006
Why Liv Violette chose Talbot County
Living in the city has its perks, but there is something about frequenting a getaway that calms the soul. My husband and I chose to buy this property because our hectic lives needed some slowing down without distractions. We love The Lodge at Leadenham Cove because we have solidified our relationships with friends and family by having them join us in a wholesome and soothing environment.
What makes this Cottage unique
My favorite part of staying at the cove is sitting in the Adirondack chairs with friends for hours catching up, and genuinely enjoying each others company. The Catalpa, Magnolia, and Pine trees give the space a unique park-like setting, that never grows tired. At night, I love to serve dinner to my guests on the deck below a Maple tree decorated with hanging lamps that my daughter refers to as The Great Hall from Harry Potter.

Fun in the sun secluded getaway back to nature!
From just lying on the dock of the bay, to kayaking to enjoying a romantic dinner for two on the deck, this escape from the daily grind exceeded our expectiins! The 16 acres provided some exciting moments to enjoy the deer and bunnies and the total privacy we were seeking. All this while being just 10 minutes from St. Michaels. 9.5 out of 10!
So glad you had a great time! Come back again!
Really lovely home and property and owner, mixed experience
The house and property was really beautiful, comfortable and serene. The house was well appointed with an excellent library, wi-fi, enough clean sheets and towels, and thoughtful touches throughout. The dock at the end of the property made an excellent place to hang out with my toddler and family and watch the osprey and snails and cormorants.
Our experience was mixed because of a few factors, some of them involved me not doing enough research on the area- I didn't realize there was no sandy beaches! There is a tiny one a ferry ride away, we went a few times, but that gets pricey. Not Liv's fault, but if you are one who assumes that large bodies of water will have beaches somewhere at their shores, be aware that's not the case at the Eastern Shore.
The house doesn't have trash service, so you have to take your garbage and recyclables with you. We never found a legit place for garbage in town, and could have used more specific guidance there.
There were mice in the house, which Liv was concerned about and said she would address, but they did eat my kid's food and we had to keep everything in the fridge and microwave. Liv tries to stay on top of it, but it's a rustic environment so be prepared.
And lastly, my father and I, though no one else in the house, got lots of enduring bites by some kind of insect, most likely outside. Perhaps some kind of tree mite. My mother, son, and husband were not at all affected. The mosquitoes were kept at bay and off the porch by spraying the bushes that surround it with a spray that Liv provided.
All in all, Liv was a very gracious host and the house and environment is great, but there are some things you could be prepared for that would make your trip better.
The Possibilities Are There
The house is charming inside & out. The grounds on the water are very calming & scenic. However w the rains the previous week the skeeters were in full force during the day & night. The interior needs some TLC as does the master bedroom toilet but serviceable. Also it should be noted that the cable tv selection is very very limited...was not aware there was a basic plan w maybe 10 channels available. There are kayaks but only 3 so if you have 2 couples you need to rent a 4th. Lastly as advertised there are fishing poles but they do not work. Maybe a few adjustments will give the house a 5 rating..
Thank you for your kind words and helpful suggestions. You are right in that our AV is limited as most of our renters come out to the shore to "unplug." However, they add that the WiFi is strong which is important for keeping up with work etc. and the library has something for everyone. You are also correct in regards to the fishing poles. Alas, one inexperienced fisherman/woman can render a good fishing pole inoperable for the next renter.
Here's hoping your next stay with VRBO is a five star experience!
Peaceful waterside retreat
This was the perfect getaway from the city for us - a spacious, well equipped house in a lovely location that was easy driving distance to St Michael’s. We really enjoyed the garden, woods and waterfront access despite the torrential rain that persisted for the first two days of our stay! Liv was very responsive to a couple of weather-related problems that we encountered and we will have no hesitation in booking again later in the year to enjoy exploring more of the local area.
2nd stay, looking forward to number 3.
This is a very nice home in a great location. We took advantage of fishing, kayaking, and just relaxing. Very clean home with lots of land and things to do. Just Minutes from St. Michael, where you have shopping and several dinning options. We stayed here last year at about the same time and loved it so much we had to return. Great owner as well.
Thank you! Come back again and again!
This is our second time renting Liv’s house and we wi be back again. The house is just short drive to St. Mike’s (8-10 mins) and the property is in a gorgeous spot and the house is comfortable, clean and really peaceful. We spent our days lounging on the dock or in the yard reading, playing frisbee or just getting some sun. The yard is huge and has all of the comforts you need. Our evenings we spent by a roaring fire or watching a movie or playing a board game. Highly recommend!
The property has a pier for crabbing and great fishing. Kayaks, grill, croquet, badminton, crab trap, bicycles and a foosball table area all available on site for use. A very easy, flat seven mile bike ride to St. Michaels, where some of the best restaurants and shops on the Eastern Shore are to be enjoyed. A popular attraction also in the area is the beautiful Inn at Perry Cabin, where a pool is available after you use their fantastic spa. Our shore house is the perfect getaway with tons of privacy for a family with children or a couple in love.
