Overview

About the property

Adorable cottage located in the private community of sand beach with Lake Erie at your feet. Great place for a relaxing family vacation, girlfriend getaway or anyone wishing to enjoy the lake and beautiful accomadations. This lovely cottage sleeps 2-6comfortably, lush linens and bedding provided. Bedroom 1 has queen bed with soft upgraded linens, bedroom 2 has a single bed that sleeps one. The living room has large windows looking over the lake, the sofa folds out to sleep 2, chair and half folds out to sleep one. The bathroom has whirlpool tub with a rain shower and beautiful ceramic tile, fluffy towels included. Kitchen has stainless steel appliances with microwave and dishwasher, also stackable washer and dryer. Outside you have a large patio. Cozy, fun and relaxing.I recommend getting supplies from either the Community Market in Oak Harbor, which is about 5 miles south of Highway 2 on Highway 19 (I think there is also liquor available at this location) or at Jack's Superette, west on Highway 2 and north on Howard Road. Keep your eyes open for gas stations selling bundles of firewood along Highway 2 if you want to have a fire in the fire pit. The closest large shopping outlet is a WalMart about 10 miles west on Highway 2.

Port Cinton is about 15 minutes east on Highway 2 and is a cute sort of touristy town. There is quite a bit of entertainment, including restaurant, fishing and ferries to some of the offshore islands. Marblehead is another 15 minutes east and is a pleasant place to visit.

Fabulous view of the lake

  • 5 of 5

My mother and I stayed 3 nights and found the cottage very nicely decorated, clean, and comfortable for two people. It's a great place to watch the changing weather over Lake Erie. We're not large people, but found the beds comfortable. With lake breezes and daytime highs around 80, we found no need to use the AC, even at night. The neighborhood is quiet and pleasant for walking. During our stay we visited Magee Marsh nearby and Schedel Gardens in Elmore. Our only concern was very poor television reception, which I understand the owner is addressing. Other than the view, my favorite thing about the cottage was the decor - homey without looking dated or beat-up. It has great north light and would be perfect for an artist's retreat. We would certainly consider staying here again.

Quiet stay on the Lake

  • 4 of 5

I stayed for 4 days and 3 nights with my 19-year-old son and 14-year-old daughter and we loved it. It's very small but just right for what we needed and right on the lake. Clean and well stocked. The mayflies were a bit crazy, but that can't be helped. The Wi-Fi was very weak which ended up being a good thing as it let us be "unplugged" and spend more time together. I would absolutely stay there again with my family and I highly recommend this for any small family or couple looking to get away.

Great Girls Getaway

  • 5 of 5

Spent 4 nights at this darling rental. The owner Kathy, responded to my questions within a day prior to our stay, and emailed answers to a few questions while we were there within the hour. The cottage itself is cozy and comfortable, from the beds to the sofa to the patio chairs. The kitchen was roomier than the photos, and had most of the basic necessities. We loved the Carruth studio fish decor by the stove! The lake view is to die for, the only way to get any closer is to be in the water. Unfortunately, we didn't get to swim, as the little beach was underwater due to a choppy lake. Instead, we sat around the firepit at night, and listened to the waves lull us to sleep once tucked in bed. We are already planning a return visit next summer. Thank you Kathy, for sharing your little slice of heaven!

Adorable cottage

  • 5 of 5

This cottage is adorable. Kathy has included everything one would need. The beds are comfy, the kitchen and bath immaculate. The view of Lake Erie from the living room is to die for. Although it wasn't weather friendly for lounging on the patio, it is huge overlooking the lake. Room enough to set up a cornhole or ladder golf game. Convenient to Port Clinton and the islands. We took a bike ride on the bikes. The area is great for exploring. I would say to bring your bug spray if you come in the dog days of summer. We would definitely stay here again.

Awesome time

  • 5 of 5

This is the second year in a row we have stayed at the house for our anniversary. It is a quiet neighborhood, and the close proximity to the lake make it an beautiful place to stay. Kathy is a great person to work with and makes your stay as enjoyable as possible. I would recommend this place to anyone.

Perfect location for a outstanding family vacation!!

  • 5 of 5

It started off as an idea about going to Cedar Point for my son's birthday and ending up, one of the best vacations my family has had. First of all the owner Kathy was great! Quick response to all the e-mails I sent. She has thought of everything. From ice cube trays to toddler friendly rafts. The lake house is beautiful, the view rocks and waking up to the sound of the lake, is priceless (I actually video taped it so I wouldn't forget). I love photography and found a new appreciation for bird watching due to the marsh located out front. I have no complaints. We swam everyday and relaxed some days. Ages 3 to 15 will enjoy, plenty of near by attractions, and the sunset and sunrises are beautiful! I didn't think this house could make me fall in love with Ohio, but it did.
