Property type house
Minimum Stay 3 - 7 nights

About the property

2 Bedroom, 2 Bathroom Duplex Underneath The USNA Chapel Dome

This delightful two bedroom, two full bath duplex occupies the second and third floors of a lovely home built in 1900, under the dome of the USNA Chapel. A beautiful park-like garden behind the house features a flagstone patio and serpentine pathway, and exquisite landscaping.

The entry to the home is framed by an inviting front porch, and inside the front door is a small vestibule with a separate entrance and stairs to the second level. At the top of the stairs there is a nicely equipped fully renovated kitchen with granite countertops, which overlooks the garden. To the right is a full bathroom with a clawfoot tub and shower, and next down the hall is a queen sized bedroom. At the front of the house is a welcoming living room, equipped with TV and cable, and plenty of seating for groups.

The third floor is a large master suite with a queen bed, a second full bath, and a queen sized futon for expansion. Bed and bath linens are provided.

The house is conveniently located between Gate 1 and Gate 3 of the Naval Academy, and is a 5 minute walk to the harbor, popular restaurants, and shopping that Historic Annapolis is known for.

As a reminder, there is no smoking allowed anywhere on the premises, and guests must have the written permission of the owners to host gatherings for non-registered guests. A 3 night minimum rental is required.

We look forward to welcoming you as our guest. If you request a booking, please add information about what is bringing you to Annapolis, and the number of guests that will be staying.

My wife and I loved everything about the home from its excellent location to its beautiful backyard. The owners are a delight and we look forward to many return trips.

Weekend Wedding & Holiday Stay

  • 5 of 5

The property was excellent in every way, and very conveniently located within a short walkable distance to everything downtown. On-street parking was never a problem, even on the Labor Day holiday weekend. So don't let on-street parking be a "negative" in your selection process. The garden/patio area in the very private rear yard is quite nice, and served as the starting point for the photographer's day for my daughter's wedding. Bottom line: I would definitely rent this again in the future, and will recommend to friends planning a future visit to Annapolis.

Wonderful home and owners!

  • 5 of 5

This is a beautiful house. The home is well cared for and very comfortable. The backyard is amazing and Peter allowed us to bring guests for 2 evening gatherings. The highlight was Peter joining us and sharing great stories about Annapolis. We highly recommend!

Quintessential Annapolis

  • 5 of 5

This is an exceptionally maintained property with all the necessary "Home Away" amenities located in downtown historic Annapolis. We thoroughly enjoyed the surroundings and meeting with the host who was extremely hospitable and helpful. Thank you!

Beautiful setting and location close to sights!

  • 5 of 5

Marlys was an excellent host and attended to our every need. Quiet neighborhood though it is on a main street making it very convenient to walk to the Naval Academy or the Capitol building. We had a rental car as well and parking, though not assigned, was easy to find in front of the rental. Clean and comfortable unit. Stayed with our teenage kids and all agree if we are in the area again, we would definitely stay here.

Restaurant recommendations are:

Our favorite pub is Galway Bay on Maryland Ave. Their potato skins and their lamb sliders on the $5 happy hour menu are amazing, but all their food is good (try the Shepherds Pie). Great atmosphere, and there's an Irish singer 4pm Sundays.

A close runner up is McGarvey's Saloon & Oyster Bar in the heart of downtown at 8 Market Space.

Osteria is half-way up the south side of Main Street -- excellent, but pricey. Someone definitely has to try the salmon.

Harry Brown's on State Circle is also pricey but excellent, and the bar area upstairs has a great happy hour and wonderful ambience.

If you're up for a 5 min drive across the bridge to Eastport, The Chart House and Carrol's Creek are both excellent.

A well known favorite of "foodies" is Vin 909 in Eastport, but you need to be there by 4:45 to get in. Friends have arrived at 5:30, and were never seated throughout the night, though they have some great wine choices while you wait.

Don't miss Sofi's crepes for a quick and delicious snack or lunch (on Craig St, across from the USNA Barry Gate, near Ego Alley)

Our favorite breakfast is at The Boatyard in Eastport, where the breakfast menu is expansive, and if you get there before 10am on the weekends, the mimosas and Bloody Mary's are $2 and worth the rush. Closer to home, The Iron Rooster (down by the Market Place) is very good (especially the shrimp & grits), and Chick and Ruth's on Main Street is always a treat.
